Anyone else had that had 'I don't care care whether I'm worth it (or think I'm worth it) I'm going for it anyway'?
Seriously, there comes a time where I had to start to act like the person I always wanted to be or just stay wishing forever. It doesn't happen overnight, revolution is a slow process, takes huge effort, vision, planning and is totally dangerous

.
Yup, had it about a decade ago. Since then I treat myself. I’m still thrifty but, I have no problems buying myself what I want / doing for myself since I make sure I don’t waste in other areas.
Here’s what I wore on Sunday. When planning the wardrobe I thought teh blouse matched the bag. It didn’t really, but I didn’t want to change out. [emoji4]

Love your shoes. A
No. I’m worth enough to have the whole world under my feet, but I decide to be humble and keep to my corner. [emoji4]
But some items do intimidate me like classic flaps. I know I have a bit in my collection, but still, they intimidate me. [emoji28]
Love it,
@vink!
Quick UK explanation of our school system.
Prep school for us = 8-13 year old boys only. They are only prep(aratory) for public school (private, single-sex school). We have a class system here (society hierarchy). The middle class is very large but no who is middle class ever admits to being middle class. Middle classes champion comprehensives (public schools) but send their boys to public schools (private school) and their daughters to private schools or grammar schools (entry by exam) or even former grammar schools (special comprehensives where entry is by exam and catchment areas).
Comprehensives were brought in the 1970s to replace a 2 tier education system (Grammars for academic achievers and secondary moderns for 'more practically driven') and were supposed to teach across abilities but have steaming (different abilities) and special classes so never have to. We also have 'academies' brought in the 1990s that make their own rules up, these are usually in posh-ish areas and are strictly catchment area based, so if you can't afford to live in small, select area your child will go to the local comp(rehensive) that may actually be further away.
I knew there were differences in structure and nomenclature between UK and US schools. I didn’t know there was this much.

I’m not sure I’m clear just yet. I need to google.
In the US, we have public schools (funded mostly by property taxes) which vary wildly in quality based on geography. Wealthier areas have better schools. Poorer areas have poorer schools. Which is ridiculous. But, society at large doesn’t seem to care as long as they can move into a “good” school district for their own kids.
Private schools are paid for by parents. They can be religious or secular. Typically children from wealthier families go to private schools. However many middle class and lower class families (speaking financial terms here) will make the sacrifice to send their children to a private school. There are some limited academic scholarships and some financial aid opportunities which help fund a few children.
This is all for K - 12 which are the years before college (university). At that point public or private status of universities isn’t overly relevant and it isn’t predictive of quality or type of student who attends. Usually it’s research quality that makes one school “better” than another but this is certainly not the only factor. That being said, public universities are usually far less expensive than private universities - especially for in state students. So there are great bargains to be had.
Middle class people in the US usually have no problems saying they are middle class and instead take pride in being so.
Socially, we do also have other types of groupings - too many to name - old money, blue bloods, middle class, disadvantaged, whatever, etc. I personally find it silly that people like to slice and dice themselves socially. But Dr. Suess’s Star Belly Sneetches lesson still hasn’t sunk in unfortunately.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the Reed Krakoff boxer bag?

I know this question is like 7 years too late. But just wondering if anyone remembers it or had one....
I’ve always liked this bag and came within a hair’s breath of buying one. I didn’t because the company went out of business and I worrried about resale.
Spark,
I love and fear Mr. S at the same time. To have spouse that pays attention and helps with bag/wardrobe decisions is ideal. However the questions and forcing to reconcile the wardrobe would drive my crazy.. I would be so scared his reasoning would be so good and force my hand on items I loved.
Which bags are on the chopping block
Its been a little crazy making at times. But, since 1)I always end up getting rid of stuff I probably shouldn’t have bought in the first place

and 2) he had no problems with me replacing / upgrading

, it works out. LOL! Remember, I’m not getting rid of anything I love. He’s just nudging (pushing) me to get rid of extra i’m not using and lackluster items that I am using.
We did have a hard convo about my black
Prada bauletto. He thinks that it’s not serving me since I don’t wear it as often as I used to. I had to bring out the fire breathing dragons to protect that bag. It’s not going away. I just need to rotate it in better. It’s just big and in non work situations, I usually don’t carry enough to justify a large hand carried bag.
Hahaha, yes, what rich people wear for casual, Lol! But when I was a teenager, it wasn’t just for rich people, it was a real across-the-board trend. I would call that photo of Lady Di preppy as well.
Don’t worry about your Gucci loafers. They are much too stylish and edgy to count as preppy. Anyone remember Bass Weejuns? Again, I did a search to find a photo to make my point, and had an “OMG, they still make these!” moment.

Agree. In the 80’s preppy had nothing to do with wealth. It was just a very widespread style. Lucky for me that by the time I got to college, it was done.
And OMG on the penny loafers. I’m having flashbacks.

LOL!
Shopping my closet too! Today with Prada BN 2423 in Bluette. It has gone cooler now here that the wet season has started. Summer reached a high of 40C (104F), now down to 32C (but feels like 35-37C with humidity.

I’ve always liked this bag of yours.
