Has anyone tried ebay’s new handbag selling service? I’m tempted to try it. Commissions are 20% v 15% if you sell on your own via eBay (10% ebay +5% PayPal)

They list your bag on the higher end of the potential valuation and give it 90 days to sell. Plus you don’t ever get a return.

I was really worried when I first heard about them doing this. I thought it would kill the independent sale market. Now I’m thinking it could be a good option. Certainly the fees are lower than for consignment which is a good thing.
If you do this I would be very interested to see what your thoughts are when it sells.

Ooh I like this idea!!!
I'm about to go to the US and was thinking of selling my LV Chrissie and maybe even my red Diors if the price was reasonable. I have thousand dollar pink Dior heels as well that I would love to sell since I can't do heels anymore but is this just for handbags? Not shoes? Come to think of it some Jimmy Choo shearling boots, two pair, I would sell because they're not warm enough for my winters and they were $1500/each so I wouldn't want to sell them for less than five hundred for both and I don't think my eBay handle with not so much feedback will inspire people to pay that much. So consignment has always interested me for high end designer stuff I could part with but not getting half the proceeds.

Oh and you're right about the mini boxer but the belt is different And I don't love the look.

There is a linen version I might try for the look without so much weight.

Unfortunately, it’s just for handbags. I have some Chanel and Prada shoes I need to list. I don’t think shoes sell for much relative to retail (????)

Linen bags scare me about staying clean. Is the bag linen just on certain panels?

So, I’m poking around a bit looking at bags again. I’m really loving the Polene handbags. Here are four styles / colors that are super adorable. 39D1B715-D767-462A-951D-AB91E11B2654.jpeg
They meet my basic criteria. I’ve been lusting after them for a while, they would be unique adds to my collection, and they look very wearable.

However, my concern is I can’t touch the bags before buying and I’m not sure the leather is what I want. The hand feel of leather can definitely make or break a bag for me.

Also, since Polene isn’t one of my favorite brands (Dior, Gucci and Chanel) I wonder if I would actually choose one of these over my other bags.

Two red flags would say “don’t buy”.

BUT! My mini Trussardi is kind of in the same space. Something different for my collection. A size I never wear. A brand I knew nothing about. And a leather that while very high quality isn’t “sumptuous” (its structured pebbled leather.)8151C2D6-55CF-4738-93FF-1663D5B27BA1.jpeg
I just adore this bag and wear it frequently. I wonder if one of these Polene bags would be another relatively inexpensive “win” for my collection.

What do you ladies think?

Go for it. At that price point it's an easy decision.

You're right I should just keep my shoes.

The linen is the body of it. The sides and bottom are leather.

Kinda pretty and maybe not so heavy...

I also am eyeballing this Gucci. I really love the color of my tote. But as I said, it’s too big.

I’m thinking this could be the right bag for me. I don’t plan to buy soon. I’ll wait til preloved prices come down a bit more because being velvet, I’d have to baby it and it’s only 5-6 months wearable where I live. But, it could be very fun to own and wear.

Interesting about classic flaps. I never thought of a style as being an intimidator, Why do you feel they intimidate you? Too 'feminine'? Grown-up? Associated with a certain type of intimidating person??

I think Chanel flap is for ultra rich people and I’m not. It just look very rich and carry the air of elitist. But if you ask people around me they’ll just laugh. Everytime I carry mine, I feel like I’m having an identity crisis.

I grow up believing we’re middle class. My dad always in his office working and my mom put me on chores. We always have maids, but I had to learn how to iron all my clothes, wash dishes, and cook. (And I had to do my own school uniform during their annual holiday.) I even sewn all the badges on my uniform when I was young. (I kinda like needle work anyway.) All my classmates went to Europe for their summer holidays (This was key stage 1.) So, when they came back talking about where they went and what they saw, I, who spent my time at home or maybe at the project sites, always thought that we may have some, not as much as the others, but definitely more than the construction workers I met everyday so we must be in the middle. This idea sticks with me, even now, although, I started to notice some friends seems not to want to hang around me anymore once they saw my house or met my parents. (I was actively involved in some political movement group during my high school and once the head people saw my house, which we happened to drop by on our way back from one of the activities and my mom hosted us an impromptu dinner since we were all starving. They pointed out to our goblets and everything we use on the table asking if we use it for guest or everyday, which for me, they’re just normal thing we use everyday. For me, they’re no different than a plastic cup or anything. It’s just a thing to hold water. They just look nice and my mom likes nice things. But they talked to me less after that and tend to exclude me quite often. I was about to take a university entrance exam anyway so, we kind of lost touch.) Once in university, one day, an acquaintance pointed out a name on a newly renovated faculty library wall and asked if that name is my dad. I said yes and I think his eyes budged a bit. (My dad is an alumni and yeah... he has donated the money to the faculty and university every year since I remember. And in this case, I know the head guy who wanted it to get renovated asked like a dozen alumni to chip in so we can have a much better equipped library and my dad was one of those people he asked. It’s just what he do for his friends and his school. I never see it as a big thing. He works so hard to get us where we are. I think it’s fair he gets to spend his money how he sees fit. I still don’t get why people make it out as a big deal.) When I got my first car, it’s not even a new one. It’s my mom’s old Toyota Corolla which she passed it down to me. I think many of the rich kids drive BMW or Mercedes Benz. I just thought at least we’re well off enough for me to have my own car to drive around and that’s like I was a senior already. Plus, I never had any premier brand bags until I work and buy them with my own money. The rich kids carry their epi LV since high school. I just use whatever I like and can afford with my allowance at the moment. Mostly something I found from a local brands, flea market, or thrift store. Until I met my DBF-now-husband who laughed at my face the first time I said that I come from a middle class family (which I still insist) that I start to question my identity and where I stand on the social economic ladder. I know this may sound weird, but it actually confuses me how I should behave in some social situations. It’s funny come to think about the fact that I know we can afford nice jewelries, but not brandname bags. I never make a connection and maybe coz it’s not my parents’s things.

It’s like I know I earn myself that flap, but it’s for rich people and I don’t feel rich enough or maybe I’m rich but I don’t feel like I’m rich, but then the flap screams that I’m rich so am I really rich? And when I go out with the flap, I don’t like the way people treats me. I feel like they’re treating the flap, not me. I like the way people treat me when I carry normal simple bags. I feels like that’s who they’re and that’s easier for me to deal with. But the flaps are just so beautiful I can’t not own them. [emoji28]

No mention to LV here coz I don’t like logo much and seriously, no offense, I hope, but most of Hermes designs look old and boring to me. With that money, I’d rather get Chanel instead.

When I was on my Tokyo trip last week, 1 of my friends I’m traveling with was looking for Haruta loafers (ladies). I can’t remember very well but she said this was on trend when we were younger. Luckily we found a department store carrying the brand. It’s this kind:

I remember the Japanese school girls likes to wear this exact shoes from this brand years ago. Don’t know if it’s still in fashion now.

I’d say try it. Get out of your comfort zone and give it a chance. I can’t see the photo you post so I don’t know what this bag look like, but why not try something new? If you don’t love it, sell it or give it away. Consider the loss as a price to pay for a lesson or just to try on new bag. Like when you go to a public swimming pool and have to pay for a fee. At the end, you’ll either find something you love or cross something and a doubt out of your list. Worth so much for me. [emoji4]

If it’s velvet and you really like the color, are you sure you want to buy second hand? There maybe some imperfections put on it by a previous owner. [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

Sorry for such enabling. [emoji28]
