I'm seeing new and small brands going for an understated , min-hw, luxe-leather in wearable colours. Most premier designers are obsessed with 'yoof' so... lots of unicorns, rainbows and LOGOS. I can't advise you but perhaps it's a good time to go pre-loved or vintage, H Bolide 31 or Kelly 28/32? Seeing some not to bad prices at the moment.

Inside info so keep under your hats: Burberry is going 'fur free' soon (YAWN) and developing a more cartoony-type line for accessories (ZZZZzzzzzzzz......,,,,,,) . Otherwise they're going back to basics (Trenches, scarves). NEXT! Not that many of us here are interested in Burberry but that's basically where all the effort is going. Trying to Go-Gucci....while Gucci is trying to be bloody Apple, 3D printing technology (don't ask, don't care) Equilibrium (sending their workforce to 'volunteer' on charitable projects, tracing sources of raw products - which is good, lots of 'caring' talk etc). How they can say this crap when most of the workforce is overworked and unhappy and they avoid paying tax in Italy is beyond me.

I do care about Burberry. But only for their scarf and coat. I just can’t with their bags. I tried to love them IRL, but they are too photogenic. [emoji28]

I really want to try Gucci, but always chicken out. Their vibe intimidate me. [emoji28] I feel like they’re so sexy, so grown up, so sophisticated in the way that I’ll never be. Like a sultry sexy woman in a satin wrap dress with long luscious curl locks lounging on her front while has her hands prop her head up tangle in her perfect locks at the sunset. Yeah... probably something from Tom Ford era ad print, but it stuck with me. Even the prints and graffiti they’re doing like bees and pineapples still look grown up to me. I feel like I’m not at that level yet. [emoji28]

And regarding Logo, I’m so disappointed with Dior and Balenciaga. I can understand the throw back to Galliano in recent Dior pieces (that’s my opinion which may be wrong), but I love Raf’s vision much more. Even the design team that come after him for a season or two are not bad at all. It’s sad to see their work discontinued so fast. But I guess that’s Dior for you everything is disposable. Nothing is a classic except lady Dior.

And Balenciaga is like a joke now. I can understand the sarcasm at the first couple season, but now it’s getting old and the joke seems to be back on them. I’m just sad coz I used to love their work so much, but now they’re putting Cities on sale. [emoji29]

I think you could definitely do this.
Here is a canvas strap (from Mautto) on my Bal City bag. I'm very pleased with how it looks and feels. The original City strap was much too thin to be comfortable, and was also too short.

I love this! You make the bag look even better. I’m actually contemplating getting a muatto, but I don’t know which size to get. Why it’s such a hard decision like this? Any recommendation on how to decide? [emoji28]

I haven't bought one of their canvas straps in a long time, so I'm not sure if I can be helpful. The ones I have (they are both canvas) are adjustable, which makes it easier since it isn't necessary to be precise.
What I did was to find a strap length on a different bag that worked for me, moved it over to the bag I needed a strap for, and tested it to be sure that the length was essentially correct. Then I estimated the width, crossed my fingers, and placed the order!

Oh... [emoji4] there’s a background story to this. Arden Cove is a startup and they make anti-theft bags. I backed their first project on Indiegogo a couple years ago. The bag came with a very substantial chain strap which is very heavy so, I wore it once despite loving it. Then, one day, I decided to check their website to see how far they’re now and I see they’ve launched new lines of products and that include a faux leather strap for my bag! And it’s made of slash-proof material. So, I order that strap for my bag. They actually have a smaller chain strap for sell, too. The weight is about half of the original one that I have, but I didn’t order that one. I find that I like this one much better. It’s more me. [emoji4]

Check out their website if you’re looking for anti-theft bags. I highly recommend them. The design is pretty and look very normal. I find the quality to be solid. I haven’t wear mine long enough to give any higher rating, but the look already won me over.

Thanks, Vink! Looking fwd to looking!

:hugs:

Life is full of difficult family issues ATM, TPF is my release. Thank you for all the kind words, they've really made my day and cheered me up.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m also dealing with unpleasant family issues right now (let’s just say that aging parent issues are no fun at all), and tPF is a great release/distraction. Hope things look up for you soon. :hugs:

cannot agree more!
i do have a Fb account, but hardly ever post anything there, no pics, no 'check-in', etc...
it was very eye-opening when one of the job far related contacts asked for some personal info, i surely told him where to go (to f#%@ off) and within a few mins time he started sending me by whatsapp my own pics which he easily retrieved from Fb.
(some not very clever people think that if they get closer to you on personal level, they will get more business, support, or benefit, which is total nonsense, so he was trying his luck to 'make friends' with me :yucky:)
Needless to say, i closed my Fb account immediately and only 'friends' can see my personal info now, but i am pretty sure there are ways to get access to any info one might be interested in.
There is no privacy any more.
And i feel fine to decline a 'friends request' if i believe this person should not be allowed into MY personal space.

I’m the same way. I’m on FB (under my dog’s name, LOL). I almost never post but am on in order to participate in a closed group for the place where I volunteer.

Milestone reached!! I have photographed every wardrobe item (6 bags, 2 SLGs, 2 pr. shoes, 2 pr. boots, 1 suit, 2 pair of sunnies & 1 fine jewelry necklace) that I have to sell. So, the hardest part is behind me. :yahoo:

I also photographed almost al the few non wardrobe items I had in my sell box. Now, it’s just a matter of listing everything. which I’ll do while I recuperate. Surgery was moved up from Wednesday to Monday so, I’ll try to have everything listed this week. Yippee!

That’s a huge amount of work — kudos to you for getting it done!

This post made me laugh for some reason! I love Burberry but really just for their coats and the occasional scarf. So the basics are fine with me, even if they are boring! They can keep the cartoony line! Glad to hear they’re eliminating fur, though.

I’m looking back through old records to see what I paid for the bags I’m selling.

OMG! I am going to take a complete bath on two of these bags. I completely “mis-remembered” how much I paid for one of them and WOW!! That was a dumb bunny purchase price / decision. I can’t believe I paid that! :whut: The second is just a function of the brand that doesn’t hold its value. :crybaby:

Trying to remind myself that these are sunk costs and that any proceeds on a bag I don’t use / don’t want is a positive.

I’m deep breathing. :frown:

But, this will certainly make me even more vigilant about buying brands that (relatively speaking) hold their value and getting the bags at a good price.

Actually let me take a step back. This is making me even more vigilant about making sure I adore the bag so that I never want to sell. :oh: That’s the real solution.

Totally agree with this! I just got some quotes on a bag I haven’t used in years. I’m going to get about 35% of what I paid for it. Ugh. But, I did get some good use out of it when I got it back in 2013, and as you said, it’s sunk costs.

The thing is, I did adore this bag when I bought it. Sometimes, your needs and tastes change, and there’s nothing you can do about that. It’s just life.
