In honor of Kate Spade, let’s make this week’s “challenge” to wear KS bags / SLG’s etc. theoigh Sunday if we own them. If we don’t own them but did in the past, feel free to share stories or old pictures of your bags.

Kate Spade used to be one of my favorites brands. I loved the feminine style. I still remember when her bags were mostly nylon. They seemed so expensive to me at the time. So I just admired from afar.

Once I started upgrading my bags I took the plunge. I didn’t get nylon but I bought several leather and straw bags. I was particularly crazy about her bags with bows.

These three bags were the ones that were hardest to let go.

I still love bows and anything else girly. So the first two bags were much loved. The black one was a surprisingly great workhorse. I wore it sooooo often for work DB697CB1-731C-4E31-9E70-643A99F277C9.jpegCB4EB8C7-DFC6-4B7B-9B66-A68158208EC5.jpeg
I recently sold my last KS bag. I think it’s adorable but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I still am on the hunt for it’s replacement.D37FBD97-74F9-428C-9B02-EDF8ED61752F.jpeg

 bless her soul, I am so sorry for this lady's family.

My mother had an operation today so I'm still waiting for her to come round. Life is so precious.

I don't have any KS bags (or her new Line Frances Valentine) so any suggestions of what type of bags I may own that will give a sense of Kate Spade's style I could wear to honour her will be greatly welcomed and I will do my best to make it happen. I'm guessing lady-like, themes, straw.

Rant coming up!!

So about 2 years ago, I offered many bags for sale at the office. These were mostly my RMs (Rebecca Minkoff). One co-worker got 2 MAMs (black and orange). A few days later though, she told me that her husband just gifted her with a bag so she is returning the black MAM. That was fine. What was not acceptable to me was the state of the bag. She folded the leather in storage, so the short time the bag was with her, it already developed a crease! Good thing another co-worker who was not too meticulous about bags bought that. (I think I ranted about this in the 2016 thread.)

Then, today, she was showing me the orange bag (after about 2 years!) - how there is an issue with the handle. That she was able to use it one time only. She mentioned before that there was an issue, but I didn't expect that she would return it to me!!! And again, the thing that irked me is how the bag has been handled! There is storage smell. The bag is folded in whatever way. But of course, I don't want conflicts so I just offered to give her money back in full. She did not hesitate to accept.

Rant over.

I can't tell you how mad this makes me. There is so little social awareness. Anyway, next time she compliments any bag you have, any time she asks if you have any lovely bags you longer need, don't say thank you and don't say no, say nothing. Silence says so much.

I don't lend anymore (all offers of people wanting to lend me things is just a precursor to "BTW..you know that 'x' you have?."). My Niece may have whatever at the end if its life with me but she better not 'fish'. Even gently used bags, unworn shoes and coats I've given to friends they think is their right to give back years later when they move house or run out of space (we have charity shops here that would greatly receive). I gave my convertible Prada to someone who swore she loved it and it was all she ever dreamt about, next month it was on Ebay - I could have done that myself. People are nuts.

LOL! This cracked me up! I’m glad you had fun!
LOOOOVE your travel case. So retro chic. Can you fit much since it’s round?
OMG! :cursing: What an awful person!!!! A cheat and likely a liar. I’m so sorry for you. I wish we could all go to work with you and give her a good bag slap. :bagslap:
I agree, cats. I wouldn’t have accepted the return on the second bag. Msd is a sweetheart to have done so.

And I bet this person is horrible in all her life. I bet she drives her hubby and children nuts. Or maybe all of them are theives. Who knows? SMH!
Completely agree!! People are getting a deal when they buy preloved from an individual. If they want return policies, etc. then they need to purchase new.
Exactly. I’m glad you stuck to your guns. Last year, someone purchase a diamond pendant from me on Tradesy. Two months after purchase she claimed that she had it inspected by a jewelry and they said some of the diamonds were real and some weren’t. (That makes zero sense) She also claimed the metal was silver and not white gold. :rolleyes:Given that I had purchased this new in store, I knew that wasn’t the case. She likely either changed out the diamonds and wanted to send junk back to me or she needed the money back. Luckily she was outside of Tradesy’s return window. Some sellers are such charlatans.
It’s been Murphy’s Law with me the past couple of months

I had a knee injury in Feb (left). I didn’t want surgery but finally had to give in. That’s what I had on Friday.

Meanwhile, I’ve developed a bone spur on my right foot which will be removed on the 13th. Again, I was dragging my feet (pun intended. LOL!) on getting that done. I’ve known I needed that surgery for a couple years.

Aaaaand, I broke my toe (left) a few weeks ago stumbling around in the dark and ran into the bathroom door. (typical clumsy Sagittarius. LOL!) So that bone is rumbling around in there. Hope it heals soon. LOL!
Mr. Sparkle said that if I injure anything else, he is going to wrap me in bubble wrap.

Happily, my surgeon and the physical therapist said I’m doing really well - much better than they could have expected. :yahoo:I chalk it up to working out regularly. I also did a lot of pre-hab before surgery to try to make sure specific muscles were strong and flexible. I hate, hate, HATE working out with the fiery flames of Hades. But it does have its benefits. So... :shrugs:

Didn’t you say you’ve been needing knee surgery as well?

:hugs:

Sounds horrendous but if these things need doing it'll be worth it, and it sounds you've putting hard work into your recovery too, well done

I hit "like" but I don't like this at all! Good grief, people are rude.

Gucci Animalier Bright shoulder/cross. Great little bag, just enough room for essentials, it has 5 pockets inside all luscious suede, meticulously made. I had it a while before I carried it regularly.

Reminds me of searching for our house, we would ring up the estate agents after just seeing property and they would have gone already, when DH saw our house and he liked it I told him to say YES without me seeing it first. Visited our house 4 years ago wearing this bag.

That would have really pissed me off.

Good healing thoughts for your Mom.

OMG! She sold a bag you had just gifted her?? What is wrong with people? If I found that I couldn’t use the bag, I would have given it back to you with effusive thanks. Or probably, I just would have kept it and found a use.

What a wonderful memory for this gorgeous handbag. I love how so many of Gucci bags didn’t have obvious branding but still referenced the brand. I’d love to find a great Gucci for a workhorse. I’m hoping the brand will be a bit more restrained going forward. I’m weary of patches and sequins. :-s

What a marvelous memory!

Thanks to all of you for the warm get well wishes. I just love my purse sisters. you are all so sweet!

Rest, books, TV. No online shopping is interesting me.

But, I’m bored silly. I have a second surgery on the 13th. I wanted to get everything out of the way so I can get back to life.

How are you feeling?
I’m mending nicely, thanks for asking. I see the surgeon on Thursday for my 2-week post-op visit, and after that I’m sure he’ll clear me to drive. I’ve been walking every day, which is helping me get my strength back. Still need a lot of rest, but it’s considered major surgery so I’m just going with the flow.

Watching movies, reading, and napping... and of course tPF for online company!

Best of luck with your second surgery.
