I'm going to try & stay on the sidelines too. Nordstrom half-yearly sale starts on Wednesday, and I'm going to be recuperating from surgery (scheduled tomorrow) so I'm a little worried I'll be tempted to shop because I'll be feeling sorry for myself. :annoyed:

But honestly, there isn't anything I need. I'm bag content, I have all the shoes I need, and my clothing wardrobe is totally on target. I don't like to buy jewelry or coats on line. So instead I'll plan to distract myself with books... I've downloaded a few novels and mysteries on my iPad, and I'll try hard to keep away from the shopping sites.

Also, I'm expecting scarf mail by the end of the week... found something last night from a trusted seller that I've wanted for a long time, so it's not as though I'm being totally virtuous!
I hope all goes well with your surgery, Elaine.
No tips, but I just want to share. When I look at my closet I see a lot of white, black and blue tops. And I tell myself I want to inject some variety on the colors. And then I go shopping and a pretty blouse would have several beautiful color options. But what do I pick? Still any of white or blue or black!
I had to admit to myself that I no longer liked as much color in my wardrobe. I think the neutrals (black, grey, white) are simple and chic and I like wearing brightly colored bags whenever I want.

That being said, 50% of my wardrobe is brights - red, pink, blue (mostly turquoise or cobalt). So not liking as much color really just meant adding some neutrals to my overly colorful wardrobe.

And, my chosen colors (bags or clothes) are the same. I’d like to add some yellow or green but it’s really hard to find these colors in the style I want (architectural side of glam). It’s hard enough to find it in pink so I fudge the styling a bit.
I wanted to add, I have cut down my "online window shopping" list of stores and I only normally check the following sites: Yoox, TheOutnet, Farfetch (private sale is now on), Selfridges, Monnier Freres and Forzieri (not bought from them yet though). Plus my saved searches in ebay. And sometimes a peek at this or that store. So hopefully, temptation had been minimized?
Interesting list. You’ve given me some to put back on my radar.

I always lurked preloved sites. Now I want more of a mix of preloved and new so I need to add these sites in.

But, really, I haven’t bought in the last year like I used to because I haven’t been looking. Funny how those two go together. Ha!

I think nubuck has shorter "hair" than suade. Should be easy to clean? I'm not so sure, too.
I have one nubuck bag. I baby it because when I did try to clean a spot (very delicately) some color came off. It’s not noticeable unless you're looking for it but it killed me. :frown: I wouldn’t buy another nubuck or suede bag for any reason. I don’t know how anyone with small kids or pets manages a suede / nubuck bag unless they are ok with it looking quite used or keep it away from them.
I used to wear only white. I added blue and pink after graduation. Last year, since we were in national mourning for a year plus, now, my closet is full of black and gray. I don't like them. I actually hate them now, but they're still in good condition so I order some flat pack airtight storage bag for them yesterday. I need to put them away otherwise, it'll be easy for me to reach for them since they're becoming the majority of my closet now. (And are actually in my size!) I need to get back in shape and wear those light colors that I love again. I'm just sick of wearing them, but during a morning rush, it's just so easy to put them on.
I like black and grey. But, I’m with you. If I wear anything over and over I get sick of it. Variety is a must in my closet.

Good luck on your efforts to get back in shape.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Please do share what you’re reading! I need to start my next audio book as well.

Can’t wait to see your scarf mail!

I sold a bag! I brought 3 bags to the office, and 1 has sold. There are interest for the other 2, but just that for the moment. I really did not want to attempt to sell in the office because I don't want to be the BI (bad influence ). But one friend/coworker asked to look at one specific bag so anyway I brought two more. (And this coworker has not made up her mind, it is a different coworker who instantly bought.)

The bag that sold is the Marc Jacobs Box bag. It is a small bag that I tried to use, but I feel like it's not age appropriate for me. And the one who bought it is a younger coworker who is vertically challenged, less than 5ft tall, so the bag looks good on her, even crossbody.

Best of luck that the other two sell! I wonder if the others here want bags too [emoji23] it would save on shipping if I sold in person.

Funny. We are just talking about colors and, today, I did the reverse of what I’ve been doing. I’m wearing pink so I wanted a neutral bag. That got me into my ivory Chanel.

I definitely need neutrals and colors in my bag wardrobe. I can’t be happy with just one or the other.

Question for everyone: if you had to pick only ONE color for your bag(s) in your wardrobe and it couldn’t be the safe choices of black or brown, what would it be?

Either gray or dark, dark navy blue. Still pretty safe colors!

Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery from surgery. I can’t wait to see your scarf mail!

Wish you all the best for the surgery!

I think books should be enough. Read something about sustainable fashion or how fashion ruin the world. It'll also help curve the urge to shop. [emoji16] Seriously. I recommend "to die for" and "the end of fashion". "How luxury lost its luster" is also a classic read in the category, I think. I'm sorry I couldn't remember the author's name.
Excellent recommendations, I am adding them to my to be read list!

I would pick red - Gucci Hibiscus Red, Hermès Rouge H and the red of my Chanel Reissue!

Navy

Elaine hope you are already recovering very comfortably!
Boo, isn’t that a safe choice, per @Sparkletastic ’s description? If not then I will also add navy - Hermès Blue Sapphire.

It would be red.
My favorite red is my Drag 2 in Rouge H - it's the best red ever. Not too R.E.D. - but just right.

Sale season is approaching, earlier than ever it seems.

Anyone tempted by anything lately, sale or not on sale?

Or will you be watching from the sidelines??

Hoping to be as good as I can be from the sidelines. [emoji56]
I released eight bags since Jan 1. I have been content with my current, edited bag wardrobe. I am considering a black caviar wallet on chain GHW (possibly releasing my red lambskin WOC afterwards or not) and today I put my name down on the list for a Rouge H Garden Party 36 at the Hermès boutique. Does anyone with a GP care to comment on pros/cons, what they love/don’t love about it? Thanks in advance!

I have red hair so for me I wouldn’t choose red.

If I had to pick a color other than black, I’d pick silver. I could go quiet with a dark gunmetal shade of silver or blingy with a bright and shiny shade.

If I had to pick a colorful color, it would definitely be red. I’d get one dark bordeaux and a bright lipstick / cherry red.

But, while I could halfway live with just the silvers, the reds would exhaust me after a while and I’d crave the ability to carry any other color.

Beige, greige or cobalt/bright blue.
