I went in line at 7am. Waited downstairs a bit and moved upstairs. I think line up at 7am or 8am does not make much difference. Probably 30 people. There are a LOT of chinese resellers. 80% minimum. I am chinese so was fascinated by their stories. There were many ppl camped overnight from 10pm before the first day. They hauled away most small size shoes then grabbing scarves like a pile of mopping cloth. My heart was aching when seeing a scarf got treated like that. Sadly. Nobody around clothing and home goods.
Back to the scarf selection on second day, it is ok but feels like leftovers. I went to shawl line first, got the boulevard and caucase, both have good selection. Only few mousseline left. Found phoenix pocket squares. Not much 70. Then line up at scarf, and realized that was a wrong decision. I should do scarf first to get hippopolis. Saw the last one gone and unable to find any other. Lots of tyger tyger and the jewelry design one, jardin d'hiver, saw a yellow jardin leila and the indian princess one, even the shell design which was way old. IMO, it's a poor scarf selection. Plus they donot show all designs, so it's pure luck unless the most common ones. I got a black white tyger tyger and a hot pink jardin hiver, they dig out under table.

So i went to the shoe section. Still some design for my size and got a pair of bootie lorana which is comfortable. A pair of high heels, very nice, but i put back. There is security peeking at your phone which is creepy and funny.
Good selection for clothing. Jungle love, equateur, tiger royale, zodiac, buckles. Belts have good selection too.
When i checked out at noon time, the line is getting longer. But still shorter than yesterday afternoon when i took a peek.
Will post picture later. It's my first paris sale and last day of our vacation. It is overall fun with some disappointments! Now i need to rest my poor back. :whut:

Just a few things to add.....

I have become only an occasional, lazy contributor to the forum here, though I love it. But I have been going to the sales annually for over 20 years. You know the French saying tout ca change tout c'est la meme chose?

I no longer believe in predicting what will happen when I get inside, because each year there are a few changes. Back in the day I could buy birkins at the sale. With, of course, the little "S" mark forever stamped in the leather. Ooh I miss those days because I am a sucker for leather.

I usually follow a pattern. The first day I arrive as close to 6 am as possible. With, very important, a stool and a sandwich! It works, more or less.

This time, tragically, I was lazy. Not much I needed, so I slept in and got in line at 10:15. Six hour later my sandwich was long gone and I deeply regretted leaving my stool at home. This was the longest I have ever, ever been in line. Next time I would go at 6am or much later. Lesson learned. Go before the break of dawn and suffer a bit,or go at 10 and suffer terribly.

The good.....there was no one trying to sneak in line in my area. Interesting to know that it remains a problem for the first in line.

There are still resellers and people who don't care what they get as long as they get a haul! One gentleman begged me to give him an Hermes umbrella I was holding if I chose not to take it. But it was not Hermes! I had to work to convince him it was a mass produced one from my hotel. He wanted everything in sight.

In the end, the sales are a pleasant addiction and by now I see a lot of old friends among the staff and security. My haul....just a few things I needed or liked. A beach towel with the chain d'ancre motif, two scarves, and four shawls. On the second day I was offered a scarf in Maison du Carre from under the table, but it was not my colorway.

Day two was a better one for time in line, though the scarves in particular were feeling depleted. Day one is best for selection, but in the future I would only go very early. I would always return on day to just because it is easier.

I saw someone noted that they saw a VAT tax number on their receipt. This is common, even in restaurants. You do not get any tax refund if you live outside the EU. Years ago there was a VAT station at the sales but it went away. You cannot claim it.

Someone else mentioned a last day 90% discount. Every now and then there will be a special Monday sale with extra discounts. This does not happen every year and probably depends on inventory. The discount varies by department. I've seen anextra 80% on ready-to-wear, an extra 50% on shoals. Scarves have always been gone by the final sale. It is fun to attend when it happens but more often than not it does not happen.

Anyway, I am done and ready to turn my attention to the rest of Paris! Happy to answer any questions if I am able.

when was this birkins on sale you speak of?

Decided to give it a try and i just got back from the sales. It was my first H sales and i must say it was quite pleasant. Got there at 3.30pm, waited about 30 minutes and then a further 15 minutes at the shoes section. There were quite some styles still available in smaller sizes, but no popular style i would say. However if you wear size 39 and up, then you have much more choices and even popular styles like Orans. There were also lines for the silk and the belts but i decided that i was happy with the 2 paires of shoes scored already. Also the silk and scarf section looked very poor in selection so i didn't want to bother. No queue in the other sections. Lots of stuff to choose from at the ready to wear.
I got out at 5pm and there were no line at the main entry any more. Hope this is helpful.

Well over ten years ago, at the old location outside of the Metro Mironisnel. I still have a vert olive barenia birkin from this era, complete with a tiny s stamped under the logo. But I love it. The bags were available on the third day of the sales back then, which was also the VIP day. Salespeople would tell you to meet them in a discreet corner, then show up with a purse hidden inside a shopping bag. You peeked in the bag and said yes or no.

Probably the same year I got my olive barenia kelly ;-)))

Thank you for this very interesting post. Good old days... i can imagine how much nostalgie you must have each time you return these days to the chaos of current sales...
If you returned today, what do you think of selection, such as shoes, belts, shawls? My husband went second day last time abd it was a disaster... many thanks!

Perigord, Do not feel Bad about being there late. I was there at 6.15 and got into the sales area by 11.30. So, you did not lose that much time on me. Someone even told me the Story that resellers Camp outside Palais de Congres and just move their sleeping bags upstairs Once let in. At least around 8 pm there was a guard blocking the escalator - I wonder how many people would have started Camping if not.

Do they announce a special Monday sale in advance? How would you know about it? I would be mostly interested in RTW. Thanks.
