Sort of random in light of the current discussion but I was not sure where else to fit this.

So, in the pursuit to only keep bags I love and use...I have had three Rebecca Minkoff Nikki hobos on the chopping block since January. They are my last holdouts of my RM bags and I just could not let them go so I put them into "storage" to see if I ever reached for them before saying goodbye. I have not really been counting them in my collection as I suppose internally I already knew they were gone. I have not turned to them once, and each time I have thought of it I have reached for something else.

I did try them on again today - to give them one last chance - and decided they just do not work for me anymore, at all. I love the colours, and the wonderful leathers, and that is really the only reason why I have been holding onto them. Otherwise, they just don't work - the shape, the lack of structure, the shoulder drop, the shoulder strap...it has been hard as the colours and the wonderful old school RM leathers bring me joy, but the actual function and enjoyment...just do not!

I decided to pack them up for the final time today and tomorrow I will see if a couple of my coworkers want them - I would love to see someone else loving and using them, if it could not be me! If they aren't interested, I will donate them. I am also going to pack up a couple MK bags that are sort of redundant in my collection to see if my coworkers want them, if not they too will be going to donation.

Of all my bags I purged (I purged 15+ earlier this year), these three RMs have been the most "difficult" to let go of! I do not think I will regret it once they are gone, but it is just taking that step. Anyone else have that one (or more!) bag that they knew they were not going to love or use, but just had a hard time actually letting go of? Did you keep it, or did you eventually set it free (ha ha)?

Great job! This method is a good way to see if you'll go back to them.

I've had bags I've fallen out of love with an out of sight out of mind situation. I ended up pulling them, had a brief rekindling of love, only to really figure out what to do with them.

Some left (like the LC Neo) some stayed (Bally tote).

I'm back from my home in the wild for a while. This is me behind my garden View attachment 3788784

While I've been gone from on-line business Photobucket ate all my photos :coolio: so I may be image-light for a while.

I will try to catch-up soon and look forward to seeing your H, Choos and MG bags. I think most of you have seen my H bags/SLGs anyway and I sadly don't have any JC or MGs.

No bag purchases from me during July, I haven't even been to H to check out the AW17 scarves

I am spending too much time thinking about Gucci though, I went to an event on Weds at Harrods (London) and they have some very nice new things including something called DIY which lets the buyer do the customising. Gucci sent me the most beautiful embroidered green silk, toile lined pouch, they know how to seduce me...:p

A DIY sounds fantastic and you'd make something truly unique and one of kind!

Some of my RMs are also the bag I'm having a hard time letting go! I learned about RM sometime in 2013 and I was able to get some of those wonderful old school bags. It was only last year that I decided to let go of my Leaf green Nikki, my last of that style, even if the style really was not for me. I still now have 3 MAMs. I have decided to keep one as a forever bag, even if I've not used it maybe for a year now. But I still can't let the other 2 go. One just has an amazing leather!

Another brand where I have bags that I don't reach for generally but could not let go at the same time is Marc Jacobs collection (from before when bags were made in Italy). Leather and quality are just great!!

So I totally get you, you're not alone.

I too understand about the early Rebecca Minkoff quality and colors. I used to work near her sample sale and it was a fairy land of heavy, gorgeous leathers in beautiful colors and contemporary designs that were just edgy enough but wearable. I recall that Megs and tPF we're big fans of RM and Megs/tPF contributed to the design of a satchel (name of it began with a D I think.) Anyone remember?

For bags that I especially loved or that have history or represent the style of a certain era, I have an "archival box," and put them to rest there. I try to keep this number modest, right now about 6, but it allows me to be at peace with bags that have meaning but that I don't intend to use. I have jettisoned bags that I wish were in the archival box now like MJ's Paradise Rio and the Little Janice. MJ was a creative force with his his own line and these bags along with the Stam were great examples, IMO. So maybe you don't have to purge everything but take a middle path and save a few. Just a thought.

This is a great collage, bake! I keep forgetting that you have a Jardin Anglais scarf. Have you seen the artist's new Canadian Wild one yet? I keep hoping I'll fall in love with it, but I'm just not feeling it.

I did see it online and on reveals here and I love it.

But I only buy silks in person because the colors vary from online to in person. Since it's pretty, it might be hard to find locally ☹️

Maybe they'll come out with a colorway you'll like? They can do more seasons of it, right? Not sure how it works lol.

Doing this collage makes me want a red clic H bracelet. [emoji28]

Congrats on clearing out some unused bags. I hope you coworkers use them with happiness!

And yes, I've struggled with giving up bags but once they're gone I've never wanted any of them back.

Right now I'm struggling with giving up some of my carefree bags. I never wear them but think...maybe. And being busy has been the perfect excuse not to sell. The only way I get myself to give up some bags is to track my usage and see that they haven't been worn. So, if these particular bags aren't worn by the end of the year, I'll be ok with letting them go.

You have a gorgeous, quality collection with good variety. So I can see how you'd easily be very content!!!
And thanks for the compliments on my bags. I do like vibrant color for my bags which is why my wardrobe has gotten more neutral colors over time. LOL! Maybe, I need to try more mixing colored bags with colored clothes.
Yes definitely that is the way to really have fun with your colored bags

This has happened to me. Sometimes I end up giving it away rather then selling so I can pick the person who will treasure it. Other times I hold it a bit longer only to discover that I should have sold a bag because when I pull it out again, I am like what was I thinking. Don't stress over it just put the ones you are keeping in a prominent place where they are easy to use. Sometimes it helps to pull every bag you own out put them on your bed then organize them by size or style or color and start by removing the ones you like least .

The ones I have remaining in my actual core collection are all loved and used, they are the ones left of my old collection after I purged/KonMaried or new this year. They are all in regular rotation (I have under 20; which is my max). These three RMs are the holdouts from that purge in January that I put into storage as I was not ready to let go yet though I knew they needed to go as they only gave me...part-joy. It is not hard for me to figure out what needs to go, but these last three were harder to actually let go of for some reason! I never sell; I give away or donate to dress for success or shelters.

I am sure they will go quickly.
