Which bags do you plan to let go?

I've also noticed bag sales being pretty slow. I wonder why. Other than the demonically cursed red Gucci, I have four bags left to sell - all listed with good photos, full descriptions, and priced aggressively. I can't drop the price any more or it would just be better for me to keep them. For example, I listed a pristine condition $4900 bag at 75% off. I'm not however going to sell it for say $750 even if that's now the market value.

Anyway, no movement on any of these since I first listed them in Jan / Feb. it's frustrating.

Question for everyone: do you have a bag you keep even though you know you won't wear it often? What bag is it and why are you keeping it?

Mine is my Chanel ivory glazed lamb single classic flap with bijoux hardware.

I can't get this bag to fit in my rotation well at all. There always seems to be a better option in my wardrobe. But it's my only bag in the white / cream color range and I feel like I would get frustrated if I didn't have this color when I needed it.

I'm curious to see what your little used "keeper" bag is.

That sounds a gorgeous bag, can we see a picture?
I recently sold off most bags that are no longer my favourites, it's been a 2 year process, So I wasn't in a hurry to sell. Our plan has been to downsize home for some time so I've been working towards it by selling several mainly Mulberry to replace with more LV, I'm loving LV more and more .................. so selling 12 Mulberry for 3 extra LV is still downsizing, right?

Fortunately I sold Mulberry at a good time. I bought before their huge price hikes so there wasn't a problem getting in the region I paid. They made up 95% of my collection for many years but I lost that loving feeling! I feel they look like Michael Kors now.

I still have some Mulbs I will keep but there are only a few that work well for me now, my favourite being blue Ostrich Bayswater, all my others Bays have gone. Recently decided I'm uncertain what to do with my two Lily bags and one Alexa. I prefer a Chanel Flap for an evening bag so I guess my little used " Keepers " have become my Ostrich Lily, Haircalf Lily & Silky Snake Alexa. I just can't see myself using them a lot in the future but they are only tiny :giggle: so I can probably justify the space. They are also different colours and compliment different outfits ;)

I also rarely repeat colours/shades and I'm not a fan of black or brown bags, I only have one brown and one black. I feel every girl should have a little black bag and mines a medium Chanel lambskin flap. The rest of my collection are various shades of pink & mauve, blue, green, beige, ivory etc

I agree sales are slow at the moment tho, I always find it more difficult to sell a more expensive bag myself. I think buyers are less trusting of an expensive private sale. I've had a python Chloe for sale for some time that cost me £2000 and thinking I'd probably be better off sending it to consignment but I'd rather keep than sell for next to nothing and I've had some silly offers!

Two more weeks till Hawaii!!

I'm so excited.

Oh where are you going you lucky thing. I've only been once, my son dragged us there for his wedding and I absolutely adored it, paradise. It's a horrendously long flight from UK but we are hoping to do one more trip sometime soon

There are two bag brands that I regret not getting into earlier: Mulberry and Rebecca Minkoff. I've always liked the MAM and I've read on TPF about how wonderful the quality was on these bags. So I think you picked a winner to keep. :amuse:

LOL!

Ohmigoodness. I fly a LOT and I've never had a flight that didn't allow a personal item. Sometimes they hate check the p.i., (which makes me want to jump out a window - I pack fragile and very necessary things in that bag) but I have always been able to have a p.i.

And thanks for the nice words on my packing. I'm a bagaholic who feels travel is life! So I have to make it work!!! :p

I've not really travelled hugely in the past, juggling family, work has only allowed maybe 2/3 holidays abroad but the balance is changing now and we are travelling far more. We left dreary winter at home last year for our first ever Xmas away and it's opened the floodgates!!! Fortunately DH feels the same and we just can't get enough trips organised at the mo and my bags & scarves have to come too. We plan to spend the summer months at home but I will be busy with the downsizing and finding our "place in the sun"

Sadly there seem too many flights from UK that don't include p.i. and I've been asked to put my handbag into my hand luggage before. Whenever possible I've upgraded but I'm trying to avoid those airlines now. I also get round it by taking a "duty free" carrier bag and putting by handbag in there...............Lol for some reason it's okay to take carrier bags full of duty free goods on board :graucho: I believe I should be weighed with my bags or maybe buy bigger clothes and wear my handbags underneath

I went to an afternoon party yesterday, but I knew we'd be outside in the garden and with the need to carry a present, large card as well as everything else (outside marquee) I still needed a very big bag to carry everything so I took my white ostrich Barbato shopper and not one of my structured handbags. Actually, it turned out to be a very relaxed, fun and casual party with dancing on the lawn with velvet cushions and pretty blankets so I know I did the right thing.

Today's Dilemma is these only boots I have not in storage . We are expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain and I have an opening to go to. So instead of my usual dressier outfit do you think if I wear these boots dark skinny jeans, a long white RL semi tuxedo shirt untucked and a tiny black crossbody but worn hanging from my shoulder it would look ok?

Love these boots, dcooney! Yes, I think the outfit that you are describing will be perfect for an opening! I am assuming gallery/art opening?

Yes art gallery opening. There is no real safe place to put my bag hence the black mini bag. Sometimes I have to explain how a piece is done hands free so I can't wear a clutch that would match better . Thanks for your help.

Hello and happy weekend everyone!!! :flowers:
Last 2 days were pretty hectic for me, but full of fun, i had a few meetings, business and friends, in between popped into Hermes and to my own surprise found a discontinued 70 cm silk scarf, had countless sangrias and sleepless night :D
i almost forgot how great it is to sit with your friends outside till 5 am chatting and sipping on amazing home-made sangria!!
Absolutely happy shopping my closet, not even a single thought about any new bag....
Happily using my recently acquired Cabat, it's such a great bag for a sleepover!!
How are you doing, my pocket friends??

The bag I can't let go even if I don't use it much (anymore?) is my Rebecca Minkoff MAM black basketweave with green zipper track. I had an RM phase and I want to retain at least one bag from that time in my life. I feel this particular variant is so classic, beautiful and made in USA. So I've decided it's the one to keep.

That one is the best one to keep. Really channels what RM was, an affordable, well made, beautiful brand.

The Lady Darby Mysteries by Anna Lee Huber. The first book is called The Anatomist's Wife.
Adding to the never ending reading list!

I rarely use LV Bloomsbury pm but I'm keeping it. Maybe use on average 5x per year. It's my only Lv left and the only LV dh bought for me. Plus memory of dd what she did in the boutique when I bought it lol.

I'm spending less time on bags and online so I'm quite out of action. Hope to stay happy and appreciate what I have. Listed 5 bags for sale too.

Good luck on your sales! :D

LoVe LV lately, I could happily defect from Gucci (if I actually needed a bag). I have to keep myself far away from looking at all the lovely colours of Speedys ad Almas in Epi.

They're finally incorporating more blue! And all the runway things are just so pretty.

I'm trying to be good and not convince myself I need all the different Gucci blooms to coordinate with all my LV items. [emoji23]
Blue blooms would look fab with my Van Gogh scarf, like my pink blooms look good with my pink LV scarf haha.

That scarf is literally a work of art, I still need to see (if there're any left)
The scarves don't seem to fly off the shelves as much as the bags do. So they should still be available !

I kinda want the Mona Lisa one.

Going to Oahu. [emoji4]
Hope you'll be able to go again! Everyone says they want to return over and over again.

I'd have to manage my returns between Hawaii and England lol

Yay for finding that scarf!! That's how I found my first H silk too haha.
And that sounds like a great time!

Family from around the world is here! Chaos!
We'll probably go driving around and shop as well. [emoji4]

Yes, I love that color green! I don't care that I'm keeping her just to look at her greenness every now and then. This white bag is yummy. White bags kept white, like yours just draw the eyes to it, in a good way.

I think it sounds cute DC, and black bags go with everything.

Drinking sangria with friends until 5am sounds fun. I need to plan one of those, seems everyone gets so busy, especially this time of the year.

You are so right! I discovered despite having many black bags most don't close completely so when it rains I can't use them. Also the only one remotely tote shaped is beautiful but to heavy for my shoulder. I already removed a few of the unused brown bags. I found I could use a solid color neutral tote. On top of that I too am good on the mini bags department.
This trip has shown me I don't have many top zip bags. Mostly flaps or bags that are open - usu with one or more zip sections. So I need to add zip closed at some point. I'm not in a rush though. I never had the impulse to specifically look for one til this trip. The urge may pass. LOL!
Quite a few actually, mostly skins. Not something I'd take to the beach or up a mountain, or even a club. I am waiting for the world to move on and bring back lots of glamourous places to go (without the need of being a millionaire) like supper-clubs and sit-down nightclubs.
This! A few years ago told everyone in my life that I was no longer seeing simply "going to dinner/lunch/happy hour" as an activity. I love food but unless it's a group cooking session, it's not an activity. So, we have to do/see something interesting. (Adding glamour would be a huge bonus!. Happily - after a lot of confusion and token resistance - everyone has jumped on board so we have far more intriguing things to do which results in me being able to take my fun bags out to play!

Your Mulberry keepers are fun bags. I can see why you won't part with them just yet.

I'm horrified about the lack of p.i. on many flights. I haven't been to the U.K. in over a decade so maybe that's why I haven't seen it??

Maybe the travel gods have been kind to me. :amazed: I'll be sure to check policy close before flights - especially int'l - since policies are always changing now. And usually for the worse.
