You make me jealous of coat culture. [emoji16] Even though it rains so hard here, wearing coat will get you stared at so hard it hurts. I had to let go of a very cute semi-transparent lavender coat on sale a couple years ago despite liking it so much (see how I still remember it after all these years?) I know I just don't have a use for it. [emoji20]
The idea of people "staring so hard it hurts" at a poor soul in a coat made me giggle out loud! I had this image of the coat wearer nervously darting through hidden alcoves and shadowy allies to avoid public ridicule and censure.

I am jealous of any location in which coats aren't a reasonable possession to have. I venomously HATE cold weather. I would give up every coat - and maybe even a spare appendix - for year round sun!

Oh... my. I'd love to trade for 4 seasons , too. [emoji4] I guess the grass will always be greener at the other side. [emoji4]

It's mostly hot here so unless you're a hardcore fashionista living in the heart of the capital, and yes, you still get stared at. [emoji28] I tried once not to care and it didn't work out well. [emoji28] I wasn't as very thick skin as I thought. [emoji28] so,.. I just have to keep my outerwear and cooler-weather gear in check. [emoji6]

Hello ladies, got off work early today; finally got round to taking pics of my metallics. As promised, here they are:

Anya hindmach clutch; i actually forgot i had this! I found it while looking through my bags. I've had this for close to 10 years and it still looks new. Will have to include this in my rotation now (this is one of the reasons I love this thread; hidden gems are always exposed when we have to post pics, lol)

I couldn't give up my coats, not even for all-year sun. Deep in 'coat culture' here. Where I live most of the year the problem isn't so much the cold (although it is cold) it's the ^&%$* rain. My rabbit-lined parker and plastic mac are permanently out. Up here we pray for snow. Those are pure wool hand-knitted stockings BTW, and they're worn over 2 pairs of proper socks

Love the photo! It would make a fabulous painting.

Lovely photo, papertiger! As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks for the Speedy and the scarf love ladies!! I had a hectic day so all I could manage earlier was to like some posts. Just want to say that it was again the Speedy for the 4th straight day!! But for tomorrow I am gonna use my red Massaccesi midi Minerva bag, I've already moved my stuff in there actually.

You have a lovely collection of metallics!!
Great idea! I was eyeballing a pretty black and white Chanel scarf on one of the online stores.

But, honestly, I'm still waffling on this bag situation for my trip and I'm less than 2 weeks out. I hadn't realized how much I spoil myself on vacations by taking a ton of bags. I really like having the right bag for the right outfit. So this idea of just taking two bags for three weeks is truly K-I-L-L-I-N-G me!

But, what really made me start reversing course is I wore my Chanel tote today. I was walking and moving about most of the day - meetings then a marathon shopping session at the mall  (Gawd, I hate in person shopping!!!!) Anyway, the tote isn't heavy in the least. So I don't know that I need a nylon one when sightseeing all day. I could take a regular one fully loaded and be just fine. But, since I don't want to buy anything on a humbug, I'm tempted to try to figure out a way to take this tote with me.

Sigh, I dunno. I probably won't know what I'm taking til I actually pack.

Wait..what?!? :whut:

<she says in alarm with an Hermes scarf somehow back in her online shopping cart>

Hermes scarves are stiff?? I assumed they were silky and light.

See, this is how crazy my relationship with this thread and TPF has gotten. I hate shopping in person so I think of all of you as my trusted and knowledgeable scouts. You buy pretty things and tell me which are nice and which aren't. Then I follow and get the nice things. This works for me.

So c'mon people. Let's get it together. Sparkle needs to know what kind of scarf to buy. And for goodness sakes she doesn't want to have to go into a store and figure it out herself!!!
When you posted the question on a tote for your trip, i already thought about your newly acquired Chanel tote. I'm just not sure what the closure is on that one. I wondered why you didn't even consider it then. I think it's a lovely tote although you really have to strategize about the items you will pack especially if you will buy a bag there. During one of my trips to the US, my personal item during the travel was a Cole Haan bag I was intending to sell through my sister's ebay account as I knew I was also bringing home a lot more other bags.

A few weeks back I think I chanced upon a discussion (can't recall if old posts) in the Hermes scarf thread about how some H scarves are stiffer than others. And that's true of my 2 H scarves!

I know we've chatted about this but, I wanted to say I really appreciate this thread and what it's done for me and my handbag collection. I know that without it, I would have had many more painful regret purchases. And, I'd never have felt challenged to "curate" my collection so that it's (relative to TPF standards lol!) tight yet versatile.

The specific example that made me want to say this is this --> I was feeling "down" on my pewter Miu Miu and silver Proenza Schouler despite them being relatively recent purchases that I loved at the time I bought. This malaise was caused by the fact I started loving the Dior silver Micronnage Diorama. However, I can't buy that bag :crybaby:because people report that it peels. So, I was feelinh grumpy and "stuck".

But, getting warm feedback from our group on these two bags helped me see them in a new light. Now, I appreciate them much more.

So, thanks. Truly. This thread is really, so very helpful. :flowers:
You have to let go of your silver Diorama crush then! :flowers: I like those 2 bags really.

We're in the same climate range so I totally get this!! I also like coat fashion, but not very cold weather! And btw, I know I wear scarves once in a while, but I have to make sure the styling is such that the scarf does not hug my neck too close. I don't want to look foolish wearing a scarf with some sweat rolling down my face.

As I told Vink, I like wearing coats, or should I say I like the idea of wearing coats, but I can't stand cold weather!! And do you know I was "tortured" that time I visited my sister in mid west for Christmas and they just moved to their first house. It was too cold in my room despite having centralized heating. After my stay, they discovered that the vent in that room had some issues!

This is a cool picture. I live with 4 seasons and prefer winter and fall over spring and summer. May I ask what country you live in?

Scotland, but on a mountain so we have our 'microclimate' and I'm only there for only approx. 6 months of the year. Summer is like butterfly there, light, bright, fragile and very fleeting ;)
