I only own one brown bag: this Valentino Rockstud tote, which I got "free" last summer with Nordstrom Notes. I don't carry it often, but it's useful on days when I want to carry a very lightweight open bag. The strap is adjustable, so it can be carried either on the shoulder or cross body. The leather is supple and smells fab! (Eek! Am I the only one who loves to sniff her handbags???)

Another bag story.

During my first visit to London, I dragged everyone with me (BFF, DBF, Mom) to LV. I was so determined to get the Maison keychain.

While being taken care of by the sweetest SA, I was distracted by the moving shelves they have in New Bond Street.

It's seriously a cool way to display bags. Lol that boutique is gorgeous.

Anyway, I had the funds, and of course, LV is cheaper in Europe, even with the severely unfavorable exchange rate.

After purchasing the Maison keychain and the Pochette NM, I point out the Alma.

Mom and BFF say no, I've spent a lot (remember that Aspinal bag I've yet to show?) plus we had no room in our luggage and we had to catch a train to Scotland.

So Alma was left behind while I continued my UK tour.

But that didn't stop me.

I come home, still in love with the indigo Alma, I read up on caring for epi leather.

Literally the next day after landing back home, I ask DBF if I can get my Alma. He's such an enabler and takes me to the mall to get my Alma. I brought the Maison keychain and clip it on as soon as it's mine.

I then returned to the boutique 10 minutes later, I had to buy the matching epi strap haha.

This purchase connected me with another great SA, which began my slippery slope into LV. This SA connected me to the entire staff and managers, which is why I am loyal to that boutique.

Review:

This bag is amazing. It's subtle in branding, so it's very under the radar. I get the most compliments on this, due to the somewhat unique shape and texture.

It carries a decent amount, including an iPad mini.

The leather is ridiculously durable, having survived many bumps, surprise rain, and toppling over.

There's feet at the bottom, a major plus for such a structured bag. The microfiber lining is easy to clean with a lint roller. There's two slip pockets inside, handy for my work badge.

The con is that the structure makes it bulky at times, it's full leather and can get heavy if too much is in it.

Sometimes I find it too plain, and it teeters into my sell pile, but then I end up loving it all over again.

Alma is seriously a classic. Never too plain :) u can dress it up easily. LVoe the story and awesome SA/store :) it's much enjoyable to buy from a store when u are also building a positive relationship with the people [emoji177]

2 browns here. Mz Wallace Frankie and LV Bloomsbury. I'm clearing out mzw and may or may not keep this. Leaning towards keeping currently. The Bloomsbury was bought 8 years ago. It's the first LV dh bought for me. I still remember DD was 1y.o when we were at the shop. I was carrying her and she bite my other LV bag [emoji28]. Last weekend she told me she really like this bag. That really made my day [emoji173]️ She usually said my bags are ugly or just ok [emoji15].

Great brown collection and wonderful storytelling!

Pretty browns, the Carlyle is my favourite!

Thank you. [emoji4]

What a lovely story! I agree, something we just do for love and i really happy you've found yours, fashion comes and goes, true love and great leather stays

Wholeheartedly agree! [emoji16]

This bag of yours is gorgeous. It wow me everytime I see it. Please don't sell it. I'm sure you can wear it well in your 80s. Not many bags can do that. And sounds like it's a great relationship-bridge for you here. [emoji6]

I still remember that first post of yours here about this bag. I'm glad to note you are still loving her!!
Btw, what color and leather midi Minerva did you get? For me the strap drop is one of the features that I primarily love about that bag. So comfortable! Let us know how you like yours.

Maybe this bag is really meant to be? Do people in your circle know that this is an LV? Because I am happy that my co-workers do not know. They complimented me when they first noticed me carrying mine but I think they had no idea of the brand.

One thing that bothers me about this is if you do not place your stuff well inside when you have a lot, the bag sort of waves at the top, along the zipper. Is it just my bag or does this happen to you?

Yes, the bag waves when it's too full. In those situations, I put something on top, usually my sweater or a pouch, and then keep it open/unzipped.

I do like that this is not known as an LV, because no one says anything. Plus, in a dark color, it's just a plain, dark work bag.

Not many people outside handbag fanatics know epi, much less the Alma. So it really is a bag that gets true compliments for style, rather than brand. [emoji4]

This is a great story, bake! Isn't it wonderful that DBF is a bit of an enabler? I'll bet you enable him just a bit too, with whatever his "hobbies" are! :amuse:

DBF is such an enabler, and I enable his watches and suits haha.

But now that we are working on getting a house, it's hard to stop enabling sometimes. [emoji28]

Haha, a lot of my stories are how I've shopped over the years. Shopaholic with an enabler SO. [emoji23]

I sniff my Evelyne sometimes. The Speedy 20 too. Haha. Leather smells nice. I like this bag!

I do dress it up when I feel it's plain. It's such a good pair with lots of charms too.

Enjoyable shopping gives good memories to a bag. If I wasn't happy at the point of purchase I usually don't keep that bag.

I won't. Everyone stops me every time haha. So the Alma will stay forever. It really is a classic bag that I can carry for decades to come.

I forgot to put a charm on it today. Better go and do that.

Have liked the Bloomsbury since I first saw it. In 2014, when I was in Japan and scouring the pre-loved bag shops, it was a final choice between this Bloomsbury and Gucci Sukey. But on the day I was going to buy, the shop carrying the LV was closed. So it was the Gucci for me. But I still look at this bag from time to time.

[emoji4] I still love her dearly. In my many-sizes-too-big heart with rooms to spare [emoji28], she has her own room. [emoji5] There's just something about her that makes me smile and stand straighter when I carry her. Sounds crazy, I know. [emoji4]

I got this from Djfmn on the MM Facebook group. It's a jade pebble with no modifications, something I'm dying to try. [emoji4] My initial thought when I saw it was "Wow! This bag is bright!" Then, "it's Big!" It's much brighter than I thought, but I'm willing to try. [emoji4] I find the strap drop too long at first. It'd be nice if my Bluey has the length of this drop though. [emoji848] But I want to try. Today is my first day wearing her. I'll update you on my thought later. [emoji4]

And here's she sitting nicely while filled to the brim. [emoji28] The leather really just puddle.

I think she may have a memory of that day hiding somewhere in her drawers. [emoji4] Have you ever told her this story? She may like it even more. [emoji4]

Wow, a bright color indeed, but lovely!! I also had that impression of hugeness when I first got mine, but when you carry her and when she's softened, it will really be a nice slouch and no longer too big. Hope you will love carrying her. This style is one of my favorites! Though I have yet to have one with that longer flap like yours, mine is the original version.
