Hi Nicole,

I see that your handle is 0612- which is my birthday & was wondering if it's yours as well ? I absolutely love the Kelly 35 and it's on my wishlist. The gold color is perfect in my opinion. So versatile and lady like. What don't you love about it?
I agree totally with you about the look of the GST with the large logo. Are you considering replacing this for different style of Chanel tote

Hi Missie, what a coincidence! Yes that is my birthday also :) Nice to meet you.
I did love my Kelly 35 in gold until I got a perfect-for-me Birkin, and now I feel that the function in my closet of the larger size Kelly has been displaced a bit. I think I need to work on pairing it with more casual outfits and I may start to love it again. Also, I am realizing something about myself. I tend to really live in the moment regarding bags, clothes and accessories. If it doesn't fit in my lifestyle at the moment, or for clothing if it doesn't fit at the moment, I honestly believe that I will never use it again, and that is really not the case. I'm glad you asked me the question, because I think maybe the problem with the Kelly 35 is that I have a 14 month old baby and so either totes or smaller bags are working best for me right now. I need to consider if I will feel differently in a year or two.
I bought the GST because it was being discontinued and I was worried "what if it is the perfect tote and I never get one?". I think I was buying for someone else's style though, and I also realized that I really prefer an open tote to one with compartments. I sold a prada bag with compartments just a few days ago and will also sell the GST. I may very well replace it with another Chanel tote. Do you have a favorite large tote?

I love patent and this is what scares me - the yellowing. That's why I only have the one black. If I get any more patent, they would almost have to be at throw away prices so I didn't cry when they turned.

I wish there was some way to cure it when it happens. I'm sorry your pink is yellowing.
I am also scared of patent! Color change and also scuffs/peeling. I like leathers that can be fixed if something goes wrong.

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting lately. I am so busy preparing our move to Singapore. Cleaning, taking pictures of our furniture to sell, interviewing movers, withdrawing LO from daycare, doctors' appointments... what a headache!

But now I need to ask some questions for those of you who live in humid places. Vink, msd, any pocket friends from Singapore, how do you protect your bags from mold?? I was told that due to the conditions, bags getting moldy is inevitable. Is it enough to put packets of dessicants like silica in the bags or do I need to invest in a dehumidifier or dry cabinet?

I'm thinking crossbody so I can put my camera inside it. I have a crossbody camera bag that holds a ton and has specific camera padding but it's pretty unattractive. Half the trip is volunteering and half vacation so I need something versatile. Maybe I'll have my family bring over a "nicer" bag for the safari trip.

I'll take a photo. It's big and square basically :p the Toolbox can also be batwinged. It holds more than a Kelly 32, I think, because it's square.

Yes, it's oils that stain Barenia. I've seen my local H craftsman clean Barenia with water, so I summoned up all my courage and did the same for a tiny spot on my Birkin caused by breathing on it basically . Yes, I took a wet cloth to my very expensive B. Water dries right up and disappears in minutes (and the spot disappeared as well). I'm finally enjoying the process of this bag gaining a "look".
I LOVE Swift. I bought the Toolbox only for the color and honestly, the leather is so luscious AND robust. I had read it was delicate but it's not at all.

Gold bags are a funny thing. I have a gold K28 and had a gold B35. LOVE both bags and they're incredibly versatile (I only sold the Birkin to help fund the Barenia, which serves a similar purpose). I felt a bit the way you do about the gold Kelly at first - it made my heart sing when I first saw it in store, and then I was not as enthused - but now it's my most-carried of the Bs and Ks, probably my most-carried H outside of Evelyne and Garden Party. Give gold a chance
Barenia is still a mystery to me. Breathing on it, even figuratively, causes a stain but a wet cloth causes no stain! Do you think that when your fingers touch it the oils from your fingers cause the little stains? Good for you in starting to enjoy the bag gaining the "look" unique to you, as you go through life together :)
Swift is amazing. I had serious concerns about it before I had a bag in swift, but I think it is not scratch prone at all. The leather is so soft and yummy. It does seem to be somewhat easily imprinted by hardware on the leather, but that doesn't bother me. I have heard that it gets slouchy in medium to larger sizes but that does not seem to be the case with your toolbox at all!
Thanks for the encouragement to give the K35 another try. You know how we have the thread along the lines of "edgy fashion worn with Hermes"? We need a thread "edgy fashion worn with Hermes in gold"! How do you do it? Hermes in gold goes so well with conservative or preppy looks, but neither of us have that style. Do you wear with T-shirt and jeans?

Warning: venting ahead!

I am incredibly irritated. Recall I sold a bag and the buyer used an e-check instead of a credit card? Well, I don't know why but every e-check transaction I've had has been a pain. So I suspected I'd have issues with the buyer. I hoped I was wrong but I wasn't.

The e-check took the full 5 days to clear. On day 3 of that time she sent me a nasty note asking when I was going to ship the bag. I gritted my teeth and sent her a pleasant note back saying that because she used an e-check, the funds had not cleared. But I assured her that I would ship the bag within 24 hours when funds were received.

Once the check cleared, I packaged up the bag to ship and found she has an invalid address. I messaged her about this and asked her to change her address. She told me to change it. I explained I can't make any changes to her address because I can't know her correct one (duh!) and even if I did I would lose seller protection. She then asked me how to change it. Despite not being her mother, her keeper or an eBay employee, I sent her directions. Third round of messages: she says that she still can't figure it out and sends a completely different address telling (not asking) me to change it.

I REPEAT for the umpteenth time that I can't change her address. This goes back and forth a few more rounds over a couple of days with me ultimately suggesting she call eBay for help. She doesn't want to do that. So, finally, I advise her that that if she didn't have a viable address in eBay by 10am today, I was canceling the sale. At this point I didn't know if she is dense, rude, a scammer or all three. Either way I didn't want to deal with her. This was just too much messiness and hassle.

10am no address is updated. I cancel the sale, refund her money (automatically through eBay) and send her a pleasant note advising her of my actions. That leads to her sending a flurry of angry, profanity laden messages accusing me of bad customer service and of swindling her. I don't bother responding to any of them. I simply report her messages to eBay and block her from bidding on any of my items ever again.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Buyers have a responsibility to know eBay procedures and policy before they buy. I'm not a store. I'm not your mommie. I don't want to hand hold you. I don't want to walk you through steps on eBay. I don't want a simple transaction to take 8 days. And I certainly don't want to be cursed at.

This is also why I get my dander up when I see people posting in various places on TPF about proudly being being bad buyers and expecting the world from sellers. Everybody needs to be a grown up - polite, considerate and fully capable of using the tool that is eBay. I will never understand the sense of unbridled entitlement that some people have.

Grrrr!!!! :cursing:
This kind of behavior is what keeps me from using it.

So sorry you had to deal with all of this, and then have to cancel the sale in the end. If it is any comfort, they sound like a difficult buyer who may have just given you more trouble if they had actually received the item.

I just sold a piece of luggage that has patent leather trim. It has some scuffs that while pictured & disclosed were still unsightly. I just didn't want to send it this way if I could avoid it. So, I googled solutions and guess what? Toothpaste removes scuffs! Then you can buff with vegetable oil. This actually worked. So now I'm very happy because I'm sending the buyer a product better than shown.

This is the second time toothpaste has come to my rescue. I was wearing some silver jewelry for one of my overseas trips and noticed a piece I'd packed was very tarnished. I googled options and used toothpaste to polish it to an amazing shine.

I love these home remedies!! Sometimes I need solutions and don't want to / don't have the ability to hunt down a specific commercial product.

Esp if bicarbonate of soda is in the toothpaste. BTW bicarb and white vinegar de-greases, polishes off taps and most bathroom fittings, de-gunks sinks and drains. Lemon juice is the best glass cleaner I've ever used (I have a glass sided shower). A wedge of cut onion will deodorise trainers. Most of the commercial brands just package everyday ingredients plus a host of nasties you wouldn't want in the environment ever let alone in your bathroom/kitchen then sell them back to us for 100 x the money.

A quick question ladies. I need your opinion. With all the blingy bag leather straps available in the market now, will you mix metals? I see some cute Kate Spade leather straps now, but they all come with light yellow gold hardware. But the bags I am intending to use them on have silver. Do you think it's okay to mix?

Here is a sample:

View attachment 3654961

I think it's OK to mix if the actual strap is very coordinated, esp is the colour of the strap is bright/eye catching like this one. Gucci first moved to light gold hardware so that bags would coordinate with both white metal and gold metal jewellery, this was an innovation at the time.

Hi Nicole,

Glad to met you as well. Congrats on the new baby... I think your needs have changed with all the additional items you need to carry for the new baby. I think Kelly is probably too large when your in mommy mode, however will be a great bag when indulging in grown up activities. I love seeing Kelly carried super casual as this adds level of Casual chic to the outfit. I think 35 is perfect size for casual as it too large to be dressy. I always refine my collection based on classic vs trendy and sell/buy accordingly. I am not really a tote girl as I prefer flaps and handheld Satchels over totes. I just recently purchased a Tom Ford Alix tote that I love as a workhorse. It really roomy and has crossbody strap which I love.

I think I store that strait dark pink patent wrong. It look so yellow now. Much more yellower than last year photo. Maybe coz somehow I got worried and move it out from the black Chanel dust bag into a white dust bag and the light go through the dust bag and turn it yellow. Or maybe it's just the light in my room and my eyes are just tired. But I swear it's more yellow than I remember it was. I can't believe how it turn only a year after. My patent camellia WOC still has better condition. Arg!
Vink,

Oh no...Yellowing of patent is my worst fear. Maybe it's the lighting in room. Also check to see if it all over or in certain spots. I wonder if there is way to fix this

I'm answering @nicole0612 too here as I just can't get a hold of the original quote (I would have thought I'd get an alert(?) it's a shame that the quotes are not numbered too.

One of the most stunning examples of a K was a woman carrying a Gold K at a horse show, it's a neutral but it's a effortless and sophisticated 'pop'. I guess it is more a day colour though, like Etoupe (another classic, non-seasonal H colour). To my mind there are Gold people and Etoupe people. People often have a black version and an Etoupe/Gold version of something. I totally admire Etoupe on others but can't stand it on me, I'm sure there people who feel the same about Gold. In H I usually buy basics something in black (ghw) and then Gold (phw) for me this is night and day, Winter and Summer, indoors and outdoors and formal and casual. I'd love you to love your Gold K again.

@missie1 Love H Gold too and would love a K 35 too sometime (mine's a 32). Grace Kelly made the 35 the bag to have in the 1950s, I always think of it as the classic.

I love Swift too, I have no idea of why it has such a ridiculous rep as 'delicate' or even 'slouchy' :nogood: Colours are amazing in Swift, fabulous and luscious to touch, refurbs very well. And since Chamonix is so rare now it's nice to have the option of a almost-matte, smooth leather

Yes, the 35 is definitely too big for now while carrying the baby tote as well. I'm starting to look forward to thinking up some casual outfits. I usually wear skirts and dresses but not necessarily dressy. It might be cute with a mini skirt and boots. Maybe that comes to mind because that's what I'm wearing at the moment :)

I also prefer the look of flaps and satchels, but I am a "what if" person so I always need a tote for practicality. Your Alix tote is very cute, I like that it has some edginess to it and is a bit unexpected.
