You're so kind to ask and thanks for the encouragement! My collection is super small, and I feel like I've come along way with only buying bags I love, which is a big accomplishment! It's so interesting to see how tastes/collections evolve over time! So right now my collection consists of:

LV MM DE Neverfull
LV GM Mono Neverfull
LV Mono Artsy
LV LE Leopard Speedy  (hasn't been used in about a year)
Bal Dark Night City RGGH
RM Plum MAM
RM Black Cat MAB (still love it after all these years, haven't used it at all recently, ugh)
Henri Bendel Iridescent Gotham Satchel (last years model)

As for wallets/accessories, I sell them if they don't get regular use (also love to buy wallets for some reason--why is that?!?!)

Bal Makeup Bag/Clutch/Pouch
LV Emilie (I think my favorite wallet ever!) in Mono w/ Poppy interior
Dior Cannage Card case in black with pink interior
AW Iridescent Prisma Envelope Wallet

I'm really excited about adding the Cyclamen City and then I'll be mostly banned until my birthday (may find a wallet between now and then lol!)
From your collection I think I totally get your style and love it!

And you're right. Only buying bags you love is a HUGE accomplishment! So often it's easy to get swayed by a sale or trends or an impulse. (I'm still fighting those "it's so CUTE!" impulses. LOL!)

So, Kudos on getting your bag acquisition right!!

You're lucky to have a mom that "gets" it. My mom can buy nice bags but won't buy anything more than a plasticky one for $20. So she definitely doesn't understand my bag obsession.

And I'm soooooo with you on the spending limit. I didn't list mine but each year I set a hard limit on "new" money I'll spend on bags and never go over it. Mostly I fund my purchases from selling things I don't use. But that's getting harder because thankfully (yippee!) my buying has gotten better.

I had never seen a leopard speedy til you pointed out your avatar. Very, very cool!
LOL yep. My mom is actually more of a midlevel person. She has a lot of coach that my dad bought her from years ago ... it looks brand new and modern designers (RM, Liebeskind, etc) ... I'm not sure she has anything that retailed for over a thousand tho, but she did buy me a medium Chloe Marcie

One of my biggest issues is SAMPLE SALES. I moved back to NYC and they have sample sales out the ass here. I mean everything lol ...these next two weeks will be crazy I'll be going to La Perla, Liebskind, & S'well (why is a water bottle company even having a sample sale, but if moleskin can do it I guess anyone can).
I never pay retail for handbags and I know most designers sold in department stores will drop. I'm trying decide between new Givenchy Antigona and used ... at this point I think I can probably get a new one at the same price, but no taxes is a win for me.

One of the common goals is to let go of things we no longer use.

I have some SLGs and charms I don't use frequently, but once in a while when my current set doesn't work out or I want a change.

Should I work on letting them go next year, or not be so hard on myself and keep them?

I think 2017 might actually be the year this challenge finally becomes a reality for me. I've been very content with my collection for a while now and have sold/am selling the pieces I don't use - including my HG Longchamp Roseau and the long planned MAC - and not really buying much. I still can't turn my back on a great deal and sometimes splurge on SLG but I'm not actively looking for anything to buy because I don't really need anything new.
I have everything I need and finally I also have the job which allows me to fully enjoy my bags; it's amazing how great it feels to grab an AW or Mulberry bag in the morning instead of a nylon bag thats' only function is to carry things around and take abuse. Makes me excited to get up in the morning and go to work!

It really feels great to be able to carry the bags we enjoy most to work!

I feel you on wanting SLGs. I'm only using a few but I can't part with most!

You have a fantastic collection!! I'm sure you can stay on your resolutions with such a diverse assortment!

Thank you so much for the compliment! SLG's are just too fun to buy honestly. I've been searching for the perfect wallet for years, but the thrill is in the hunt, so I'll probably never find it LOL!

Thank you, you're so sweet! Yes it's SO easy to get swayed! I remember seeing in someone's signature a LONG time ago "its ok to like a bag and not own it" and that has stuck with me for probably years at this point lol.

I totally get you in the thrill of the hunt! especially if it's a LE print or super popular item!

I need to step away from the shops when it gets to that point.

Sample sales! I wish!!!! You are simultaneously lucky and cursed at the same time. The ONLY good thing about living in flyover country (other than the cheap cost of living) is the shopping is horrible. I think I'd have an aneurism if I had access to sample sales and fully stocked boutiques!

Hey there, Amazona! I'm glad you are joining us again.
Don't worry if you aren't 100% ban. Some ladies are wonderfully successful with zero buying. Others of us are learning to control and limit our purchases as we head to a future ban island.
AND I'M COMPLETELY JEALOUS that you get to wear all your handbags to work!!!

I say keep them if you have the space for them and still use them on occasion. I have several that I've never used but I they still make me happy when I take them out and look at them.

I'll keep them for now, but if I want something similar I'll try to do a one in one out for the occasionally used pieces. [emoji4]

Yay I'm so excited to join in again on the 2017 thread! 2016 was my first year joining the thread and it was great fun :)

2016 was the year of purging and I was also on ban island for most of the year. For 2017, I don't plan on sending myself to ban island but my goals are to
1) Make bag/slg purchases (if any) very very thoughtfully. As of right now I have no plans to buy anything
2) Any purchase I make has to be under $2k. (first year giving myself a price limit)

I have been a sporadic poster in this thread over the years but hope to be more active to continue the progress that I made last year.

I haven't added too many bags recently (2016 total was 4 in, 6 out I believe), but I've added more smaller items than I really have use for. I've been a sucker for the Coach collaborations, for example.

I had my first child in November and I'm realizing that it's even sillier for me to have as much as I do, as aside from going to and from work, I'll be spending a lot of outings carrying a diaper bag instead of a purse. By the time I no longer need to tote around a diaper bag, who knows if some of my bags will still fit my style.

I do have a few bags on my wish list, but given the lifestyle change, most don't make sense to add now. So I will set a small budget for next year and only buy bags (if any) that fit in the budget and make sense. I've been wanting a new work bag (like a Bayswater) but don't want to add anything until I've done a thorough clean out and reassess. I would like to get a new wallet (LV Clemence perhaps?). This has been something I've wanted to do for a few years now but haven't yet.

I made a list of all my bags, and my total number was higher than I thought (23 not including Longchamp nylon). I love streamlined collections and aspire to that, but it's also hard to imagine getting rid of half of my bags. I also made a list of things I was considering purchasing next year, and then added up the prices, and that was also higher than I expected, so I really want to be mindful of my purchases.

So tentative goals:
1. Bag budget of $500 (this will be tough)
2. No superfluous SLG additions
3. Streamline and organize wardrobe
4. Use everything (or let go of)
5. Do better with tracking purchases, sales, and wear

your collection is so well tuned to you! I love it, and can't wait to see what you add to it next year.

Great to see you back again, and many congrats on your first child! That's so exciting =D I'm thinking the same thing as you, I want to add a few things here and there but I don't at the same time, until I have had a chance to clean our more and reassess. It does tell me that what I have is working great though, so I feel pretty good about it.

However different our approaches, we all want to shop our closets in 2017! So we have two challenges for January to help us do just that! Sign up for the one that interests you and we'll cheer each other on as we fall back in love with our bags!

3 in 31 Challenge

For this challenge, pick 3 bags that you will wear in January. These are the ONLY bags you will wear during this month. Be sure to pick 3 bags that will cover all aspects of your life - work, date night, family time, worship, vacation, etc.

This is a great challenge for those wanting to downsize their collections. You'll get to see how you like having a mini capsule collection. It's also great for those who want to challenge themselves with new ways to wear / new outfits for purses they cherish.

15 in 31 Challenge

For this challenge you'll actively change your bags to wear at least 15 during January (that means no bag gets more than 2 wears!) You can spontaneously select your bags or you can target certain bags that you really want to be sure to wear.

This challenge is great for those who want to rotate their bags to make sure they use what they own and / or to lower CPW across their collection. It's also great for those who are trying to decide if certain bag should stay or go as you'll get to see it in action in comparison to bags you love to wear often.

Of course, participating in a challenge is only a fun option. Feel free to do whatever you'd like in January and let us know what you're up to. But, if you decide to do a challenge, let us know by Dec 31 so we can see who is on what "team".

Let the games begin!!! :yahoo:
