I think you need to understand why you want less beyond keeping those you'll use. Is it space you want? Refined collection?

Understanding why to downsize really helped clarify the goal to really achieve it when it came to cleaning out my closet. [emoji4]
Good point Bake! Quick answer is I want a more refined colection. Every year, I've noticed that I'm getting more mature with bag choices, not mature in terms of style, but in terms of picking.

Consignment or things where they list for you? Goodness, I find selling like a hobby now, I wish I could help you with it!

Is there much of an attachment if it's on the floor?

:) you can do better, Vink! I know you can!

I tried consignment for the last couple of years, but it's been very slow lately I have to take my stuff back. They even suggested me to sell them myself. Here, they only offer to buy a classic Chanel and B or K. The rest will be like they sell it for us and take commissions. And since bags I decided to let go are not C, B, or K, I'd have no choice but to wait or just sell it myself. :(

And yeah... sometimes, I don't know why I keep it on the closet floor. They deserve a new and much better place. :)
Thanks, Bake! :)

That's great! Being pickier helps limit what comes in, and helps decide whether an item stays or not!

Seriously wish I could help you, Vink!

Would giving them away not be an option? There's a thing on eBay here where you ship them stuff and they'll list for you. You get half the profit. Anything like that where you are?

I feel that only keeping things that you like and use really keep things from feeling crazy. So once something I knew didn't like or work out, I had to get it to go somehow.

Remember how apprehensive I was on eBay? Now I'm listing a lot!

@bakeacookie Great questions! These are definitely questions that will help us become more aware of our collections. When I used to buy and buy and buy, I didn't ask much more than 'do I like it, can I afford it?; BOOM it's coming home with me. I ask myself a lot more questions now, like - how many of a similar type of bag do I already have? How often do I use this style? How versatile is it? Will I actually use it, or will it sit there being admired, but not loved.

Hey ladies! :flowers:

Joining this thread for 2017! I was a part of it a few years ago and really would like to be held accountable for the next year. I've finally (FINALLY!) gotten off of the buy/sell merry-go-round over the past couple years and really work at keeping my collection in a place where I love everything I have. I think I'm there (definitely want to add a couple of things), but really need to work on using everything. The past several months I have basically been using my Neverfulls exclusively, which is great, but also hate to see my other wonderful bags just sitting on the shelf.

So, goals for 2017 are to rotate bags much better--I don't even have that many so it shouldn't be that difficult. The one in my avatar probably hasn't been used in a year. I LOVE it and can't part with it, but what a waste!

Next goal is to keep purchases to a minimum. I have a Cyclamen Balenciaga City with RGGH on layaway with Fashionphile, so I'll be getting that shortly. After that, trying to stay mostly banned until my birthday in June. I've been hunting for a LV Paillettes Speedy in rouge for a while now and am hoping to snag one at a decent price next year. I'll be honest with myself and say I'll probably end up buying one additional bag (just not sure what that is yet) and probably a couple of wallets. So, three new bags (including the city that's technically already purchased) and two wallets.

I don't have plans to part with anything which is a small miracle, but that may change as I rotate through my bags.

Can't wait to be part of this thread and sorry for the novel!

I'd love to see what your collection is like!!

And you definitely can do that ban until your birthday.

I should do a ban till my birthday but I don't know if I'm really ready for that.

Hi everyone! Welcome Tiffanyblue and welcome back, Denverite!

Dc, I saw your goals and I think you and I are similar stages with our collections. We still need to do a little buying to refine them but want to make sure we get the right bags and so we really limit our buying and selling. I really want to be "done" with the changes in my collection so I'm only doing a maybe one in / one out on any given year.

I've cleaned up my 2017 goals. Here they are:

• Sell 14 bags
• Buy no more than 5 bags
• Make a decision on my Chanel black patent jumbo classic flap, Gucci Teal Nubuck shoulder bag and PS Silver Small Courier - sell & replace or keep
• Buy well so I keep 100% of all purchases

Ha! Love it! My resolution is to use the money i make from eBay sales of my unused jewelry, bags and random stuff to buy a speedy B either 30 or 35 and nothing else in the way of bags and SLGs for 2017! It will be my first LV (i currently have all Coach) and I'm very excited!! But the speedy find has a long way to go!
This sounds like a great goal. Welcome to the group!

You're so kind to ask and thanks for the encouragement! My collection is super small, and I feel like I've come along way with only buying bags I love, which is a big accomplishment! It's so interesting to see how tastes/collections evolve over time! So right now my collection consists of:

LV MM DE Neverfull
LV GM Mono Neverfull
LV Mono Artsy
LV LE Leopard Speedy  (hasn't been used in about a year)
Bal Dark Night City RGGH
RM Plum MAM
RM Black Cat MAB (still love it after all these years, haven't used it at all recently, ugh)
Henri Bendel Iridescent Gotham Satchel (last years model)

As for wallets/accessories, I sell them if they don't get regular use (also love to buy wallets for some reason--why is that?!?!)

Bal Makeup Bag/Clutch/Pouch
LV Emilie (I think my favorite wallet ever!) in Mono w/ Poppy interior
Dior Cannage Card case in black with pink interior
AW Iridescent Prisma Envelope Wallet

I'm really excited about adding the Cyclamen City and then I'll be mostly banned until my birthday (may find a wallet between now and then lol!)

Welcome back, Denverite! I remember your beautiful leopard Speedy!!! I'm sad to hear that you're not using it too much, but happy to see its' still in your collection - we all have those bags that are meant to be looked at and not worn haha. I think being honest and setting realistic goals is a major part of achieving them and not feel overextended. Happy to see you again!

2 over 1k bag buys next year. I want the leather Speedy 25 (maybe I have a Rocco and it's similar enough) and a Givenchy Antigona

Keep my total purchases under 3k next year tho ... I love bags and my mom got me into it.
Welcome! Those are great, precise goals! Can't wait to see them when you achieve them!

I feel you on wanting SLGs. I'm only using a few but I can't part with most!

You have a fantastic collection!! I'm sure you can stay on your resolutions with such a diverse assortment!

You're lucky to have a mom that "gets" it. My mom can buy nice bags but won't buy anything more than a plasticky one for $20. So she definitely doesn't understand my bag obsession.

And I'm soooooo with you on the spending limit. I didn't list mine but each year I set a hard limit on "new" money I'll spend on bags and never go over it. Mostly I fund my purchases from selling things I don't use. But that's getting harder because thankfully (yippee!) my buying has gotten better.

I had never seen a leopard speedy til you pointed out your avatar. Very, very cool!
