My plan for 2017 is no new bags - I've never been more committed than I am today! Every year I make a post in this thread, read a lot of lovely comments for inspiration, live through others reveals and take short breaks from the forum itself to stop the impulse need to buy a new bag.

I've had so much enjoyment over the years with bags: buying/selling circle for leather bags <$300 which was fun to experiment different styles, and selling all my middle range Oroton and Marc by Marc Jacobs to premier designer. However I've found that I'm not happy buying premier designer bags anymore - gone is the thrill of the hunt and the joy of using the bag - because all I can think of is the cost I spent on each bag. I'm in a great financial position, but when I combine the nasty comments I receive about my bags and the fact I bought over my mental thresh hold of what I'm comfortable with I have decided to sell what I can and stop buying.

My Collection
  • Chanel: Classic Flap Jumbo, GST, Kelly Jumbo
  • Prada: BN1786, Prada BN2274
  • Louis Vuitton Canvas: DE Neverfull MM, DE Speedy B 30, DE Favorite MM, Monogram Pallas MM
  • Louis Vuitton Leather: Epi Alma PM, Empreinte Speedy B 30
  • Michael Michael Kors: Large Kirby
  • Oroton: Entourage Tote E/W

To Sell in 2017
  • Marc Jacobs Large Single (too small for my needs)
  • Marc Jacobs Single (too small for my needs, never used)
  • Michael Michael Kors Medium Kirby (never used, too small, don't buy online unless seen in person)
  • Chanel Kelly Jumbo (never used, too afraid to use because it's pink)
  • Louis Vuitton Epi Neverfull MM (never used, too big, stupid purchase because I panicked that my credit was expiring)
  • Louis Vuitton Vernis Alma PM (never used, felt it was too flashy but will always love the colour Pomme D'Amour)

I'm cheering on all the Ban Island dwellers. It will be a party with cosmos, lemon drops, chocolate covered strawberries and shopping from your closets! :drinks: I think I can hear the party starting already. Is that David Beckham I see MC'g the welcome party over there? :wtf:

I think Mimmie, dc and I are the lone residents on Pause Peninsula. (Anyone else?) I'll have to plan a pool party with some music, good food and a chocolate fountain to distract us so we don't turn our 1, 2 or 3 planned purchases for 2017 into 5, 6 or 12.
Well, you never know, I may occasionally be on Pause Peninsula with you! I'm planning a lengthy stay on Ban Island, but I have a wee rowboat, with the option of a trip off the island some time next fall if the conditions are right. (Only for one bag, though. And only if it is very, very, VERY special.)
So I may shuttle back and forth between Ban Island and Pause Peninsula, if there are treats on each! :giggle:

These are terrific goals, starbunny! Your current collection (minus the ones you plan to sell) seems very complete. We'll definitely want to see pictures, when the time is right. Welcome to Ban Island with the rest of us! :ghi5:

You are very welcome to join me in my crypt. We have guest suites with private staff so yo be well cared for!
Thank you! I normally do a family photo each year - I forgot to do one for this thread! Ban Island is a good place to be :amuse:
I think dc had suggested that we all take family photos at the beginning of the new year since many of our collections have changed. I like this idea.

IMG_1664.JPG I'm so so happy with my (black Friday discount) massaccesi bag I just got last night. It also was a sight unseen and even unphotoed online purchase in the way I customized the bag to be made, and it turned out just as gorgeous as I had hoped! I'm in love. Helps to ease the unhappiness of my last custom bag that didn't work.
This is my perfect black bag! OK off to ban island!

You really have a handle on what works for you. I think you are going to have a very productive year.

Does anyone have a true white (not cream, eggshell, ivory, etc.) handbag?

I have thought about getting one but can't pull the trigger. I don't know if it would look too stark because I don't wear pastels. I wear black, grey, white, brights and jewel tones. And, I don't see a lot of brands doing a lot of white.

So do you have white? Do you think white is a good color to have? Or do you hate white bags?

I would never buy a true white bag; although I should know to never say never! I have had 2 ivory colored bags, I sold both. I did not sell them because of the color though, I sold them because one was too big, the other too small.

I would definitely buy another ivory/eggshell bag if I liked the bag itself. I do not see myself buying a true white bag though.

I think that with certain outfits a white bag would look stunning, but I think that it really would have to be a certain outfit with certain colors.

No, even the one I just received is a soft white not stark white. I don't hate stark white I just wouldn't work for me.
