So sorry about this. I think you said at one time you like natural home remedies. So I wanted to offer one up.

During cold and flu season I always use saline sinus rinses. They help prevent colds, etc by washing away some of the bateria ans viruses we breathe in. And if you or your kids do get sick, they help thin the mucus which helps with congestion. I even add a couple drops of tea tree oil and iodine to help fight infection.

Before I tried them I was thinking NO! But they're easy and don't hurt at all.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to google how to rinse your sinuses.....

You can use a neti pot or a squeeze bottle. I use this kit. Not sure if it's available in your country but there is probably something similar.

I swear by sinus rinses. I used to stay on antibiotics for sinus infections. :doh: But, now I avoid antibiotics at all costs. With the sinus rinse, I haven't needed a prescription in years.

Good luck! IMG_3889.JPG

Ok. Sooooo... I mentioned that a black tote is one of the bags I'll allow myself to get next year. Well, it's moved to mission critical. :huh: I really needed it for this trip and whenever I travel for personal reasons (I have a work tote). And, I need it many times when I simply want to carry more on a given day.

So, I'll be on the hunt. And, I'm getting rid of my mental price ceiling. :sad: This will be a very used bag so it's worth me spending what I need to get what will work.

If anyone runs across options, please share. :smile:

I kept the GM BUT ... I’m up in the country until tomorrow (I feel your pain about that new heating system ... been there and it’s no fun) and of course my brain keeps churning on the rightness of that choice. So I guess I could say I will revisit it one last time tomorrow. I looked back at my notes and my post here after I initially looked at the MM and it was all about how small the bag seemed to me. One note to myself said it was the same size as the small LP Neo, so I decided to keep the GM.

Oh you over-analytical brain ... chill out!!
I do this too! So at least you’re not alone in being over analytical. It is a lot of money so you want to make the right decision.

I’m going to give my totals for December and year-end 2017 since I know I’m done now.

December
In: 2 = Siena and Spy
Out: 3 = 1 Travel, 1 Archival 1 Shopping Bag o Doom. Cuts my totals but not my active F/W number.
SLG = 0 as usual

2017 Totals
In: 10, including 1 gift
Out: 18
SLG=1

So it went in the right direction in 2017 and I’m fairly happy. I had a little personal goal to hit 20 out but at the very last minute I decided to roll 2 over into January so I’ll have time to date them to see if there’s any chance we’re still a match. Those 2 are double zip totes (Tod’s and Coach Borough.). I still like, and in the case of Tod’s, love the bags but I find that style frustrating to carry. I’m making my goals for 2018 and will pop over to that thread!

Thanks to everyone ... especially bakeacookie who never fails to respond, encourage and discourage a tad when necessary. And to everyone. You all have offered such insightful comments, analyses, food for so much thought, It’s been a fun year (9 months for me.) Great job!
Well done, WV! It's been great getting to know you! You have a terrific bag collection, and I just love your Shopping Bag of Doom!

This is EXACTLY the one I use for sinus infections. It really works, and no need for antibiotics, which are no help anyway since most sinus infections are viral.

That’s for sure. This Siena is the best motivation I could have for a good solid pause! Not a ban though; hard rules are just too strict for my personality. So positive motivation would say ... I want to give my SEVENTEEN F/W bags ALL my love for a good long while. No two-timing, cheating or bringing in sister wives.

Oh, what a lovely way to put it! :tup:

I am really sad I didn’t get the first dog I fell in love with yesterday. There’s another that will be available today but I’m not sure as there are many interested parties.

I’m getting very tempted to stress shop now.

You will get a dog. I bawled my eyes out when one rescue Went a different way with a dog I really wanted. My niece had adopted his brother a few weeks prior. I ended up finding my little guy that I have now. The adoption of the first dog fell through because they lied on their application. So that dog went back in the system and my niece ended up with him too. He is a sweet dog but I actually love my guy more. So just remember your special dog is out there. Don’t get discouraged.

I couldn’t have said it any better, dcooney4 — Bake, don’t get discouraged! The right dog is out there, waiting for you — you just haven’t met him (or her) yet. I’ve seen many, many shelter adoptions and the best ones happen when the adopter is patient and doesn’t give up on finding the right pet for them. Hang in there and keep the faith!

Do you have to use distilled water with this?

HBG, try googling Net-i-Pot. There are also You Tube videos on the correct way to rinse your sinuses. I do it every day because I have crappy sinuses that try to hold on to junk and then the junk gets infected. I found the concept of washing your sinuses absolutely revolting, but now that I’m doing it, it isn’t so bad and it really helps. Hope you and your family feel better soon!

Hobbsy, you don’t have to use distilled water. There are saline rinses, which can get expensive over time, or you can buy a Netipot kit and use dissolvable saline packets in water. You just have to be sure the water is sterile, so I boil the water and then let it cool a bit. The tricky part is getting the water at a point when it’s not so hot that you’re in danger of scalding your sinuses, but warm enough to be comfortable — if the water is too cold, it feels pretty gross.

Thanks! I have one and need to get it out and start using it. It's been so long I couldn't remember on the water. I have bronchitis right now and miserable.

So, I have a confession to make. :angel: I thought after buying the BV Chain Tote I was done for the year, but apparently I was wrong! DH got me a lanyard from BV for Christmas, and we went in to exchange black for cobalt blue, and they had THIS bag ... I had seen photos of it before and loved it but told myself it was too small to be practical. But that argument went out the window when I saw this little beauty in person. In a rare moment of enabling, DH told me to stop trying to argue that it will get a lot of use, and that if I just love it, I should get it. :biggrin:

That said, there have already been two occasions over the holidays when I would have used this bag if I had had it, and another tomorrow when I will use it (casual gathering at a friend’s house when I don’t want to bring a whole bag but still want something to carry my phone, lip gloss and a few tissues).

Presenting my new, completely unplanned, impulse buy (before I go into 2018 with the resolution of NO impulse buys!).

Now, like @westvillage, I am ready for a strong pause while I use the bags I have and reassess my collection. :p
