Now that is cool.
I know. I miss out on it too many times I don’t think it’s meant to be mine anymore. But I still wish to own it one day.

Most of us have been in frenzy mode. Don't beat yourself up just try and slow down a bit. Maybe get rid of one or two of the older bags that you don't love anymore.
catsinthebag- had me thinking if you could get all your money back on one or two bags which one would you sell? For me it would be my Alma as that poor bag still has the original card board shape holder in it and just doesn't get worn. The other is my red epi speedy. Both of these bags are gorgeous but for some reason I just don't wear them. What bags would you choose if any?
Are both the alma and the speedy Epi? Is there something about that leather that doesn’t work for you? I ask because I have mixed feelings about Epi myself. Love the look, but not the stiffness.
For me, I’ve thought for years about selling my Chanel Reissue 227 in Dark Blue. I usually love blue bags and have to make sure I don’t err on the side of having too many. But when I think back to the day I bought this particular Chanel (it was years ago) I think I was really just wanting to buy a larger reissue, and blue was the default because my 226 is black and it seemed silly to have two black Chanel’s. I’ve since bought a black 227 so the blue is a bit redundant. That said, at Sparkle’s suggestion, I forced myself to wear it and I do still like the bag! So the jury is still out on this one.
The other two hags I’d take my money back on if possible aren’t premiere — they are my last two Longchamp purchases. I bought the new Mademoiselle bag when it came out in August, and although the bag is really well-designed and well-made, I haven’t worn it much. It’s too small to be an everyday bag for me. The too-small issue is the thing that gets me over and over, like Lucy holding the football saying she won’t pull it away this time! I so wish I was a small-bag person, but I’m just not.
The other Longchamp is a Cuir in Red Lacquer. I fell for the color. I didn’t need or want another Cuir, but somehow I ended up buying this bag.Haven’t worn it even once. If I was still in the return period, I’d bring it back, but it’s too late for that. Beautiful color, but being honest with myself, I’m not a red bag person (although I love them on others, I just don’t naturally gravitate to them). Frustrated with myself over that one!
Thanks! I’m ok. Just a bit overwhelmed when I open the box. I normally don’t buy this many in such a short time, unless it’s a trip. [emoji28] I’ll have to calm myself down a bit before start enjoying them. [emoji4]
Excellent analysis and self awareness - your Lucy analogy is awesome! Are both the alma and the speedy Epi? Is there something about that leather that doesn’t work for you? I ask because I have mixed feelings about Epi myself. Love the look, but not the stiffness.

This is just beautiful! Is it lined in suede? I hope it can be restored to its former glory. Thanks for asking ... you too Bake. The bag Is about 16” long ... big for me. The ladies in my family presented it to me at the reunion in August. They know my “hobby” and wanted me to have the only bag remaining of their Nonni’s special bags from the leather school in the Basilica di Santa Croce (I checked the text from my nieces as to where it comes from.) There’s a shop called Modern Leather here in New York that does really good work in relining and other repairs. BV sends people there, I believe.
It was hard to get a pic of this bag; the sides are suede and it seems to eat the light up. It’s also well worn so I’ll see what Modern Leather can do with that. I had to lighten the first one a lot so it’s a little blurry. Here it is ...

Ooooh!I know there’s one floating on eBay, but a total of 45% tax and duty scare me.
Perhaps pick the "worst offender". The bag that makes you least content in this "category" and sell it. That may give you an indication of whether these are bags that should go one are ones that need more time with you. This is good advice. On a couple of bags, I’m trying to find the balance between rarely using them but still liking them and using them occasionally. I don’t know if I would miss them if they were gone. More than the money, that’s the thing that stops me, because once I’ve decided to sell a bag, I probably won’t re-buy it (unless I sold it because the color didn’t work and I got a different color, for example). I hate bag regrets!
It's Sunday 12/10. Thanks!!!Spark - not sure when exactly is your birthday but Happy Birthday! [emoji320][emoji512]
YAY!Well, I did buy the bag today so clearly whatever issues I had, they weren’t big enough to stop me!
Seriously, though, I usually balk before any big purchase. Or big decision, even if it doesn’t involve money. I just doubt myself and my ability to make the “right” decision. It happens all the time, to be honest.
Also, I think there is something about this particular bag that made me doubt myself. It is literally too perfect. It ticks all the boxes of what I am looking for, and it’s a legitimate gap in my collection (I don’t, or didn’t, have a high-end tote bag that fits what I need and fits comfortably over my shoulder). I’ve looked for a bag that fit those specs for so long I literally couldn’t believe it when I found it. And for the premier price, I wanted to be sure I wasn’t fooling myself.
Me too. My problem is my fun allotment includes my two other passions - travel and jewelry. So I have to make sure one category doesn't squeeze out the others. My bags and “fun stuff” come out of a special allotment of funds, so it’s not a question of whether the money should have gone to something “more important” (for example, charitable giving is decided by DH and I together and a different area of budget, so to speak), but my “bag fund” is finite so once the money is gone, it’s gone. So buying a particular bag may mean not having the money to buy a different one later.
Anyway, I did buy the tote todayand will try to post pics tomorrow. I think it was the right decision and plan to use the bag to death
, but if I change my mind (or if DH absolutely hates it), I have 14 days to exchange.
I completely agree with the concept of sunk costs in that I can't / shouldn't let that decide whether I sell. It should be about love and utility. This really resonates with me. I am definitely NOT a collector — I want to use all my bags, so unused ones cause me stress. BUT, I also run up against another economic theory, learned from DH: Sunk costs are irrelevant. I have trouble selling bags I’m not using if I know I’m going to take a huge loss. It shouldn’t matter, since getting any money should be better than having an expensive item sitting in my closet. There are a couple of bags I would have sold long ago if I had been able to get more money for them, but the loss was too great so I hung on to them, promised to use them more, but... well, they still sit. There are a couple of bags that are what I’ll call “special use” bags, and knowing that, it’s OK for them to hang out in my closet and only be used a couple of times a year. But the bags I thought would be everyday bags and didn’t work out that way? That’s I can’t recoup my losses on? Those, I struggle with.
OMG, dc! These are two of my favorite bags of yours. I JUST was looking at a red speedy as a potential replacement for my red Prada because of your lovely bag. I'm curious why these don't get worn. Especially when they are such good "bad weather" bags.catsinthebag- had me thinking if you could get all your money back on one or two bags which one would you sell? For me it would be my Alma as that poor bag still has the original card board shape holder in it and just doesn't get worn. The other is my red epi speedy. Both of these bags are gorgeous but for some reason I just don't wear them. What bags would you choose if any?
Don't forget TPF has a selling thread now.I want to know all your seller IDs. All of them.... I'm all about buying up your lovely unloved goodies with poor resale value! Bahaha
I mean if you DO decide it is the right thing to do to let them go at the secondary market price despite how low that is, you might feel less bad if the buyer happens to be a TPF sister....?![]()
Funny about the big bags. I hope the huge ones don't come back. They looked like suitcases and I felt those big bags carried me. LOL! Plus, I don't have enough "stuff" to justify that space. For me it will be my Prada since it is a little bit on the big side nowadays (tho I'm sure big bags will make a comeback), plus I'm not really into contrast stitching - discovered this fairly recently. I didn't mind it before. Taste really changes.
@tenKrat, you are really trying to end our friendship. You show this gorgeous red bag when you know I'm having red bag issues AFTER you brazenly show off your blue Dora, the rg BV pillow, the colorful Alma and on and on. This is pure torture and I really don't know that I like you anymore. <insert sullen pouting>My pop of color today, LV Dora BB.
