****Givenchy Care Thread****

I'm not sure if others with light coloured bags have this issue as well, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the zippers of my small cream antigona!!

The fabric/canvas around the zipper is starting to show signs of use, probably from my hands/arms when I reach in for my stuff.

I've tried to wipe it with a damp soapy cloth followed by a damp cloth, then patting it with a dry cloth before letting it air dry.

Unfortunately this does not seem to remove the dark marks at the zipper. Is there anyway to remove the marks?

Appreciate any advice on this! Thanks!

Hi, im planning on purchasing a nude or gray colored nightingale in cowskin. Would i have to worry about denim transfer? Here's a stock photo of the bags...

Grey bag...
What other tips can nightingale owners give? Most of what ive read are how to care for lambskin but not much on cowskin.

Hi,

I recently got a Givenchy medium Antigona in the beige smooth calfskin. I was wondering if anyone knows how to care for it. There is no Givenchy store in Australia I have nowhere to call up.

I've heard varying views. Some say to use water proof spray, some say to not. Some say to use leather conditioners and others say to use nothing and just to wipe it down with a cloth. My cobbler told me to spray and condition it but I'm not entirely confident to do that because I've had bags in the past where the SA told me not to use product on it but cobblers have told me to use waterproof spray.

I'm not sure what Givenchy's specific care instructions are for the smooth calfskin. Does anyone know? Or does anyone have experiences with the smooth calfskin, so far I've only read info about the grainy leathers.

I already know I have to be extra careful with it as it is light coloured AND is the smooth calfskin so any tips to protect and care for it would be great.

Thanks in advance.
Ps I've attached a photo :P

I personally wouldnt pretreat your bag, but "maybe" once a year lightly condition it only after heavy usage. light colored and smooth leathers show any blemishes most easily so why take that chance. Ive never done anything to my calf bags from givenchy.

Thats the bane of light colored bags. I haf an off white ysl bag with the same problem. Unless a dry cleaner can clean the fabric around that area, the only other option might be for a really good handbag repair, or if you can find a givenchy store that does repairs (in Europe maybe), that can swap out the fabric strip.

Same advice for lamb can be applied to cow since lamb is more delicate. Ive read good results with baby wipes against transfers. I own all leathers from givenchy and unless theres a problem, i dont do anything much to the bags except light conditioning once in a blue moon since i rotate them so much they rarely get overused, except for my patent one, which is pretty indestructible.

Thanks for the tip. Did the SA tell you to do/ or not do anything? Do you find yours hard to care for or that you need to baby it a lot. I find myself being extra careful and I'm not used to it. I've also got Collonil leather care products but still hesitant to use on this bag.

(Sorry- really new to leather care- I usually don't buy light colored bags so am a bit paranoid now going into winter and lots of rain)

Thanks for this randr21!!!

I'm not making it to Europe any time soon, so I guess I'll just have to hold out and try to keep it as clean as I can.

I really do love my antigona, and am looking to get a gale to start my own little givenchy family

No SA advice, but if you really want to try out the pre-treatment/waterproof products, I'd recommend testing it out on a place that's not obvious (or the extra leather piece that comes w/ the bag).

Like I said, I only have med to dark colors so they're not hard to care of at all imo. if you live in an area that has lots of rain/snow, then i'd consider pretreatment, or else, carry a plastic bag around like some of the tpfers as a precaution...altho i think the ant leather is made hardier than the gale calf.

I can't seem to find any care tips for Givenchy textured washed pandora. I have the large size in black and just says use specialist cleaner but I want to keep it in top condition and the bottom corners are showing wear. Any advice would be great. TIA

Hi all,

I just wish to share my friend's experience with Givenchy.

I had helped my friend to buy a Givenchy large Antigona in a departmental store in Vienna in mid-March. However, a few weeks ago she started complaining of delamination of the skin. When she took it to the Singapore Givenchy store, the sales assistant said that the bag was faulty. If it were bought in Singapore, they could do a one-for-one exchange. But as it was not bought in Singapore, proof of purchase is required in order for the bag to be sent to Paris for repair. Unfortunately, I have lost the receipt and I feel really bad about it. We cannot even offer to pay for the repair without the receipt, which to me sounds ridiculous as the brand name Givenchy is clearly and proudly displayed on the bag, and I am very certain they can tell which bags are authentically theirs. I do not see the point of insisting on us producing proof of purchase when the bag itself could be authenticated and proven to be a Givenchy.

I am now trying to contact the departmental store in Vienna to ask if they could reissue a receipt for me. In the meantime, I am also trying to contact Givenchy, but their official website is down at the moment. There does not seem to be any contact details published anywhere else.

If someone could offer any help or advice, I would be very grateful. But if not, I just hope my experience serves as a reminder to all who will be buying a Givenchy to keep their receipts safely. Sighs. Sometimes it makes me wonder, why pay so much for such poor customer care? :nono:

do you put it against rough surfaces or don't baby your bag? I have many G bags and I've yet to see any wear. if it's black, a little shoe polish will touch up some of the spots...that's what's so great about black.
