Burberry Wool Scarf Repair

I have a wool Burberry scarf and was negligent about caring for it when we all went into covid lockdown in March 2 years ago. I failed to get it cleaned. Today I pulled it out of my closet and saw a few very tiny holes. I think it is worth repairing- either by me (a few quick stitches should work) or by Burberry.

Has anyone gotten a scarf repaired at the store? Worth it? I can see it costing a small fortune.

Anyone hand wash their wool scarf? Or do an at home dryer cleaning treatment (woolite)?

This scarf is thick and heavy and awesome in a good city snow storm. Not worth replacing at all. I just don’t want it to get any worse.

Hi, I’m planning to get the rose gold 16 motif necklace. Which pair of rose gold earrings should I get to pair with it? I really like the spring earrings, but I’m wondering if I should go with the hammered vintage or sweet Alhambra? Your expert opinions are welcomed.

Cagole strap

I just purchased a new Cagole and it was love at first unboxing. I put it on and it seems that the strap (with the studs)- is catching on my long hair. Has anyone else had this problem? I tried it a couple of ways and both times it pulled on my hair. I'd hate to return the bag because it's gorgeous--but I have a Chanel Boy bag that did the same that I had to rehome. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Reactions: Namwan-

Too picky versus smart shopper- how can I tell if the 2022 preloved pricing is fair for the wear and tear on the piece?

With the price increases, it makes sense that preloved prices go up too.

Not sure what is realistic or fair price for preloved piece. I know a lot depends on how badly someone wants a piece, how readily available it is, if it's for daily use or as part of a collection, etc., degree of wear and tear, current retail pricing, etc. I also realize that pre-loved obviously means it is used and you can't expect a piece to be brand new, hence it is usually, but not always, cheaper than the current retail price.

Could use some advice from this wonderful community! Purchased a mini pochette and will have to decide in a few days whether or not to return it. It has some split glazing on the side of the leather tab, and an undisclosed small crack by the d-ring. Otherwise it seems in pretty good shape. I got it for $310 including tax and shipping. It seems like decent preloved mini pochettes without any cracks, Etc are retailing for almost $500 or more. Buying one new is not in my current budget.

I do like the piece a lot and it fits my lifestyle of just grab something and go, and I usually keep my phone in the hand anyway so it doesn't bother me that it doesn't fit the phone.

I normally use small to medium sized bags but more often than not I just like to grab my keys, license, and credit card, and go. The cles is a bit of a stretch to fit in the car fob or any receipts.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to:
1) return this piece and keep on trying to hunt for a piece at a similar price, but without any canvas cracks.
2) keep it, because it's going to be hard to match the price and unrealistic to get a preloved piece that doesn't have any canvas flaws for around $300.
3) return it because I have a PA in monogram, which I just received, and I can just use the PA as a grab-and-go instead of the Mini pochette, and just use my generic nylon pouch but I've been using to transfer Essentials like keys and a few credit cards from purse to purse.
4) would mini pochette be something I could practically use as a mini bag or belt bag or turn into a do-it-yourself multi-pochette in real daily life? Saw some videos of this online but don't know if people have actually done that or if it puts too much wear and tear and stress on the d ring and vachetta tab. I know there are some options for chains and a multi pochette conversion kit on dress up your purse.

I guess when it comes down to it I'm not sure if I'm being too picky or I should just be patient and see if I can get a piece around the same price that I got but without canvas flaws? Or is it redundant since I have a PA with a crossbody strap? Do people still find the mini pochette very useful even if they have a PA?20230121_140925.jpg And also wondering what people think in terms of what's realistic prices for pre-loved pieces in 2023.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks so much! I appreciate this community very much!

Help a newbie choose H Scarf for gift

Hello, I'm a total newbie to scarves but wanted to buy one as a birthday gift for a family member. I don't think she's a scarf afficionnado either so I wanted to buy something that is versatile/practical to give her the most wearability options. Aside from choosing what designs I think she might like, can anyone share advice on things like the most desirable/practical qualities of a scarf with regard to size, colors, patterns, etc? I know this is a hugely subjective question but I value your personal experience. It may kick off a new hobby for me too. :)

About my relative: older woman, professional and "executive" demeanor who likes to appear put-together in social settings but is generally a laid back person otherwise. She's doesn't dress very feminine - more practical or classics. She has a 20s something daughter who she could pass the scarf down to or allow to use so timeless qualities will be great.

Current top contender is the Objets de Curiosites 90 scarf.

How do you get a Bolide bag?

Hi, I want to get a Bolide bag to match my belt and wondering if it's cool to go and ask an SA about a specific bag I want, or is it like Birkin/Kelly/Constance type of bag and I have to wait till they offer me? I can shop in Singapore/Seoul/Bangkok/Hong Kong/Jakarta anytime so if you have a tip for shopping in any of these cities please go crazy.

Backstory:
I've slowly moved on from Dior to Chanel to now Hermes, and I told myself I didn't need Hermes, but started shopping scarves and shoes and jewelry and belts and wallets from Hermes.. and now I just can't get over the oomph you get from quality and craftsmanship that shows in all their leather products! I don't want to get an Hermes bag that is obvious that everyone knows about, which imo defeats the purpose of the understated quality of Hermes leatherworks.

Self-Portrait Bow Bag

Hello guys, as you all know self portrait is well known for its fancy dresses. However, their new bag collection called The Bow Bag, has been out for awhile now and I'm surprised that nobody covers it here!! So today I am going to share a review on the bag that I have purchased from them. Great leather quality as they used box leather to construct the bag (leather lining+ good structure/ stitching as well!) and also, heavy metal hardware for the bow. One con I would like to highlight is that their strap 'clipper' is very lightweight (as i prefer slightly more 'weighted' strap clipper). Nevertheless, it really really has very good pricing for sure (350 pounds)!! Of course, it can fit several of my essential stuff such as my iphone pro 14, lipstick, cardholder/ coin purse.

One highlight of this bag is that it is a statement bag where it doesn't need to have self-portrait name/logo slapped across the bag for people to know "oh this is the self portrait bag" - it is more on the subtle approach "like u know i know kind of the bag".

For those who are looking for affordable and good quality statement bag, you guys can check this bag out!

Do All Loewe Puzzle Bags Have a Date Code Tag/Tab?

I have wanted to add a Puzzle bag for a while, but kept postponing it, especially after the price increase. Recently, I ordered a small grained leather Puzzle in Artichoke Green from Browns Fashion as the price was really good. (I had never heard of Browns Fashion before a TPFer brought them up, and found via online research that they are a legitimate company out of Europe selling authentic new designer items). I placed my order on a Tuesday and received my bag that Friday. Nervous about what I might find when I opened the package, I was ecstatic to find the bag in mint condition: no defects at all whatsoever, and the leather felt as wonderful as all the reviews I have read. The dust bags and care booklet and informational card all look correct per the You Tube videos I have watched. Everything is absolutely perfect to my Loewe-novice eyes, and I am already planning my outfit to wear it with. Then I realized there is no leather tab inside the bag on the left-hand side of the pocket with the bag code, like what some of the You Tube videos have shown. I can't find it anywhere inside. I am really disappointed and stressed that I may have just paid for a dupe, and it is just so perfect in all ways except for this!

I did notice on You Tube that some of the puzzles of the same size have 1 pocket on the front and back interior, while some only have 1 interior pocket on the back. I am hoping with baited breath that this date code tab situation is just another variation maybe for this color, and that the code is somewhere else.

Can small sized Puzzle owners please check their bags for the tab and let me know if any of yours does not have it (or even to confirm yours does have it)? It would really be very helpful. Thank you.

Attaching a couple pictures of mine.

My journey with Jumbo

I bought this black caviar with ghw jumbo more than 10 years but only carry it less than 5 times I think
The reason I seldom carry it because I feel it’s too flashy and look big on me (I’m only 157cm tall). I did consider to get medium flap last time but I choose jumbo for more space reason and can wear crossbody.
Lately I have a thought to sell it since I don’t use it much and latest trend is small or mini bag. However I scared I will regret as I will never get the bag again due to the price point.
I keep the bag all the years inside a box and surprisingly the bag still look excellent, no peeling. Only zipper got small issue.
I started to carry it since yesterday due to Chinese new year and I suddenly fall in love with it. The bag is versatile and practical although a bit heavy.
I decided to keep it and use it as often as possible. Thanks for letting me share and do tell me the jumbo will not go out of style anytime. It’s classic!

My preloved Celine Sangle Seau

Just wanted to share! I love her so much already and died a little when I was able to find it in excellent condition in the taupe color, for about 700 less than retail. This is actually my first bag that isn’t black and it just confirms what I already knew for years: no one does neutral colors quite like Celine.

Hermes Birkin Orange H vs. Potiron

Hey..... I wanted an Orange Birkin 30 for a long time. So when i found one for a price i could digest, i grabbed it. Unfortunately, i am not too sure i want to keep it. The bag color is Potiron which looks just like a pumpkin subdued version of the classic Hermes orange color. I am on the fence about returning it.
What do you guys and gals think? Is the color unflattering compared to the Orange H? I havent seen an Orange H in person but in my head its like the color of the box.

Help me decide on my exchange!

I got a little Gucci horsebit WOC in classic canvas for Christmas and it’s beautiful but too small for my liking. I’m going to exchange for the same style in the bigger size but am struggling to decide on classic canvas or giant gg! I got my woc in classic canvas and it’s lovely but there is just something about the giant gg on this particular style that is gorgeous. I’m 29 and only just starting my collection and only have the black marmont super mini bag from Gucci so far. Here are some screenshots for my inspo reference!

Will it fit?!

I’m looking for a wallet that will fit nicely in my new small CF! I didn’t want another cardholder since I have so many. Would the double flap wallet fit in my purse? Or would the CF small wallet be a better fit? I don’t carry much, just phone, wallet, keys, and a lipgloss. Sometimes I bring a small sunglass pouch if I’m out during the day.

Monogram vs Epi Wallet

I am looking at getting a new wallet, well new to me. I am looking for a larger one because I’m tired of having a wallet AND a card holder, so thinking of a Sarah.

I currently have a Victorine in monogram, and debating getting the Sarah in monogram or epi. I love looking into my bag and seeing the mono, but I found a barely used epi in my favorite color, and more than half the price of mono.

I’m not sure which to go for…. HELP!
