Beautiful vachetta! I'm glad you took nice care of it. Do you want to date it? Look at the inside part of the snap. The snap will read Louis Vuitton, but above one of them on the leather tab, you should see 3 numbers. The first two are the year and the last is the month. So if it says 934, it was made in April 1993. Let us know what you find!

Thank you! It is July 1993, made in the USA. Most of the credit for taking care of it belongs to my grandmother, its original owner, I've had it for 5 years. The canvas is immaculate, but it's actually not that well taken care of, mostly just not dirty (other than some minor watermarks.) My grandmother stored it empty slumped at the bottom of a closet, and one of the side leather pieces developed a crack. I'm not one to do anything to my vachetta other than just leaving it as is, and it's just so big that it's hard to store in a practical way without having it fold somewhere. I look forward to following your restoration progress, might have to follow suit someday. :)

I am blown away by how amazing some of these 1980s ones look!

I found an 89 mono speedy 35 on fashionphile. It was a decent price and in pretty good shape. It could use a new vachetta pull tab but that’s really it. I’d love to buy only vintage going forward but it’s hard to justify the pricing sometimes. I travel to France for my job so it’s not a huge savings to get vintage through sites like fashionphile when it isn’t that much more once I get the French price and no taxes for new.
