Happy Christmas/Hanukah/Kwanza to all!

I recently picked up a 35 year old Keepall B 50 that I've been rehabbing. I'll post about it elsewhere later (I need some advice), but it got me to thinking, what is the oldest LV we have in tPF?

My *new* bag is in pretty good shape. The canvas is teriffic. It clearly would have been in much better shape had it not been stored flat. The flat storing created trouble spots in the vachetta (cracks) because it was flat and I suspect not conditioned ever. So, what's your oldest bag? What do we have out there?

tia!

I have a similar aged Keepall 55, owned since new. Strap went missing eons ago. Canvas in great shape, but the Vachetta is dry. Doesn’t bother me one bit because I love the worn look. Great for weekend trips to the cabin but that’s basically it. Too heavy to really do any other travel with. Shame because it is a beautiful bag.

I too have an old Keepall 55 (no b.) It's so big, I really only use it if I am going somewhere by car for 1 or 2 days. But it gets lots of compliments on the rare occasions when I do use it. It is maybe 26 or 27 years old and the vachetta is perfect. I am constantly chasing this exact look that it has for all my newer items.

Beautiful vachetta! I'm glad you took nice care of it. Do you want to date it? Look at the inside part of the snap. The snap will read Louis Vuitton, but above one of them on the leather tab, you should see 3 numbers. The first two are the year and the last is the month. So if it says 934, it was made in April 1993. Let us know what you find!
