Because the Penrose and Sorrento are 'odds and ends' collections, I wonder if the leather used at different times, for different styles, or different batches, might in fact be different.
I've ordered bags from both Penrose and Sorrento collections and returned most of them.
I thought the Sorrento leather was OK, but I didn't like the construction of either Sorrento handbag I ordered. The Sorrento leather I got was soft, but very matte, and the colors I
got were dull looking. But it was the way the bags were finished that prompted me to return both of them.
In the case of the Pensrose, and Penrose 2 bags, the colors were beautiful. But the leather appeared very dull and dry. It was rough to the touch with a visible embossed grain. Despite adoring the royal blue color, I returned my Penrose 2 satchel as I knew I wouldn't enjoy it.
I did end up keeping 1 Penrose satchel in light grey. The leather was much smoother
and the finish worked with the pale grey color. The leather on this bag was different than the leather on my previous Penrose 2 bag.
I know that everyone has a different preference for their leather handbags. I generally don't like coated leathers and as my tastes have evolved, I don't like many of the embossed leathers. Others love Saffiano, now, they are not my thing. But I will admit they are very durable and I enjoyed Saffiano leather in the past. I thought the looked and embossed grain were very interesting. I don't mind the embossed pebbled leather, as long as it's not coated. And I love the Dooney exotic leathers, and yes,
I know they are all embossed, and many of the croco patterns are coated too.
I used to adore the Brahmin croco embossed handbags, but now I'm finding they are too
shiny for me. Tastes change. Moods change. Who knows what next year will bring?
