Congrats HoneyLocks! De la Mer au Ciel is an awesome design.

It is such a great feeling of relief to find a grail but there is always another unicorn on the list. It never ends and I guess that is part of the fun. I stalk the secondhand sites too, hoping some of my favorites show up at a reasonable price.

Congrats! this cw reveals very well values of this charming design, brings out all graphics details, great choice

Oh wow!! You found it. Finally. Keep trying it. I hope you will love it. I am your twin on this one and it is a summer favorite of mine.

Regarding the theory that finding your grails slows down your scarf purchases: it is absolutely true. Last year I was buying fast and furiously. DH was a bit in a panic a bit amused by the number of packages arriving from around the world. Once I found all if my grails my buying dropped dramatically. In the past 5 months I have bought only one gavroche online. And I rehomed 5-6 scarves that I felt I didn't need. I still look at eBay or other sites if I'm bored but I'm not tempted as much to buy other things. I feel like the addiction was cured. For now. [emoji23]

It's stunning, HoneyLocks. But I totally understand what you meant. I talked about this ELeK a while back about how it came with some blemishes that allowed me to wear it without fear of damaging it. Other than the blemishes, I was quite unimpressed with it when I received it. Although the scarf itself is very pretty, it really is not the best cw for me. I was unhappy with that purchase for quite a while until one day I photographed it when I was using it to try out new knots. It somehow photographs quite well but still is not my favorite in the mirror. So it remains my most used and care-free scarf, and I don't care too much about how it looks in the mirror. I actually bought more ELeKs after this one with CWs that I think fit me better (in the mirror), but still, I use this particular cw way more than the other ones.

Your de la Mer au Ciel is so vibrant and beautiful on my screen. Maybe try taking photos of it on you and see if it'll reveal its true beauty that way? And since I just recently hung up my Christophe Columb decouvre l'Amerique (it's symbolic for me), if using the scarf as a piece of wall art is also an option for you, I can see your dLMaC making a good one. It's the HG, of course it deserves a unique spot for it. I would enjoy admiring my HG on my wall every day.

Dear HoneyLocks,
This has happened to me before. Part of the allure is the hunt, perhaps. Give it a chance. Pull your lovely scarf out and play with it. It is a beautiful treasure, no doubt.
Later this week I will be receiving a Grail that I've spent at least 5 years searching for ( probably longer). I had given up and then it appeared. Hopefully I'll love it.

Thank you for your sweet comments!

And twins on the de la mer au ciel. I do understand your feeling. That's why recently I have TRIED to buy primarily at a boutique. Last year I ordered a CSGM from the website. I was a bit disappointed by it when it first arrived, but after marinating for awhile, I enjoy it more.

So give your new scarf a chance.

This, my dear, is STUNNING! One of the best c/w in MP. So versatile...it's neutral yet has so much oomph. Congrats on the find.

This is a lovely design and c/w. I love the idea of letting it "marinate" a bit; I'm confindent it will become a beloved member of your scarf family. Sometimes the hunt is part of the excitement so I get how you feel when a grail's arrival is anticlimactic.

It's very pretty but it's the way it makes you look (and feel) that's most important

Thank you all for your kind words. :flowers:

Well, it seems not only the scarf needed to marinate, so did I: During the last days I have been swimming in the local lake everyday (hey, I swam 1km today and it takes my about 15km of cycling to get there and the same amount to get back home). In the water I felt like swimming in the scarf: the surface of the water, the fishies and seaweed (algae?) underneath, clouds and birds above. This is what I was looking for so long, to have the feeling of swimming as an accessory (many of my necklaces have a watery vibe as well). When swimming, my hands make the water curl right in front of me, just like at the drawing. Toutsy is such a great artist!

And I have already admired the artwork of M.C.Escher as a child (thanks, dad):

So I played around: the original idea of pairing it with jeans and a white top or to be all matchy-matchy: meh...

but with green, purple, even olive: here is the "Oomph" i was looking for:

the longer I have it the more I like it!

BTW: there were many ducks around as well, so I got an old and battered "La mare aux canards" from evilbay -

Twins with you, HoneyLocks, in your reasoning for loving this pattern. I couldn't have expressed it better: swimming, Escher, etc. Though I passed on your cw...which I adore...I did bring 2 others home. It's one of H's most magnificent designs, IMHO. Congrats and enjoy. It's lovely on you.

It looks great in every picture
but I like the most the first two - individuality of your lovely scarf design is the most exposed
I’m a big fan of Mr Escher graphics :)

Great post! If you run around a little after your swim, you can start training for a triathlon! I am in awe of multi-sport people. The scarf looks great on you! Especially like it cascading over the purple blouse. Enjoy!!

Not a true grail as I didn't even know that this colorway existed but this thread has been dormant for a while. I have a bit of an alliances du monde obsession but only in the neutral colorways. Today I received a black mousseline to add to my collection of a taupe mousseline and a neutral 90 silk. This was my first eBay scarf purchase in 6 months! Nothing else has tempted me In quite some time.
