Twins on this c/w!!! Love the soft pink! Fabulous, Croisette!

Thank you Sickgrl, nice to be twins!

Another beauty for you, Croisette! I loved this pattern and was so sad that not one of the cws looked good with my coloring. Le sigh... This one is lovely on you - now, which bracelet?!?!

Luvbolide, sometime you may find the right cw. Which bracelet? I will think about.

Love this on you, froufrou - and I love it with the stripes, too! Wish I could figure out how to pull that look off...
Remember scarves used to be $435? Plus tax it could be $470 in some places. Selling on Ebay with paypal fees, they cut about 15%. When it involves foreign exchange rate by PP, it could reach 20%. Just do the math how much that $470 scarf has to be listed so that reseller won't lose money, let alone make profit? $552 to break even at 15% fees, $587 at 20%. That's just breaking even, no profit at all and there's work involved here.
I know a reseller who sells scarves to be the bread winner because the spouse tragically lost job. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Just pass it on to the next buyer who's willing to pay the price and the reseller family can pay their bills. We don't know the story behind each price tag. If it's a popular grail, the reseller (sometimes he/she is a collector, too) might got it at a premium price as well. Then do the math again with the formula above. Not all high numbers mean greed.
Yes there's exception. I don't like seller who is blatant flipper, because I feel sorry for the original seller of the scarf.
This thread has turned into the hate thread against resellers of grails. It's not fair that we want their scarves at the price we want (otherwise, smash them here). Again, we don't know the story behind the price tag. If you don't like their price, just don't buy it. For me, it's such an easy rule.

Mrs Kim , I do take your point after all no one is forcing us to buy from resellers ,and in fact I love resellers because through them I've been able to acquire scarves I've wanted for so long! Ebay and consignment appeared in my life 8 or so years ago , and I've never looked back , yay!
And I'm a reseller myself , in fact this very day I'm preparing some no longer worn silks for sale .
Recently I sold something for a ridiculous price myself ,although it didn't suit me I'd reasoned that I loved it so much I wouldn't part with it for less.
But please don't bring words like 'hate' into play ,I don't think they are appropriate at all on this friendly thread.. I've seen some unpleasant to and fro of posts on some of the other threads and find it distasteful . I think the symbiotic relationship of 'reseller'. 'Grail' and ' tpfer ' should continue and be up for discussion , that's what we're here for !

Well thank you Luvbolide somehow stripes seem to go with everything, and even better than plain things on occasions. I'm certain you would find it a cinch !

Mrs Kim I meant no offense to all resellers. I have two trusted resellers from whom I have purchased many times, often above retail, and several in the $700-800 range. But I know the price is fair and they don't overcharge me. I know I can wait and try to find a deal, but my trust in them means that I pay a bit higher than I would to anyone else. Resellers won't earn this kind of trust by price gauging and imo doing so will be bad for their long term business.

It's the flipping of scarves and $1200 prices that I think are a bit unsavory. But the group here is probably the nicest on tpf. We don't hate anyone.

I'm just happy that there are sources for us to indulge our passions. Thankfully we live in a free market so sellers can put any price on the items they offer for sale. Ultimately it is the buyers who will decide if an item sells at a high price and that dealer has to decide on their reasonable of cost of holding stock until or if the market reaches their costs plus profit.

Historically prices go down as well as up, this has recently happened in the antique rug market and textiles and lots of other collectable areas. One of the good things about Hermes is that the company is a great merchandiser and have kept the company and its heritage relevant.

For Hermes scarves there are some trusted sellers who price high but they remain in business and have a steady repeat clientele. I for one will happily pay more, sight unseen for a scarf from a trusted dealer and that price will go up the longer I keep looking. Personally I balance that extra cost against the incredible deals found elsewhere. I mentally keep an average dollar value of my scarves. I am not a seller so this works for me.

I don't think we've turned this thread into a hate thread. We respectfully discuss our love of grails, our shared experiences, and on occasion, our POV on prices. I learn so much from members' experiences and on occasion, contribute. I'm enormously grateful to members' contributions.
I agree and apologize if my spicy comment (meant in jest) offended anybody. Absolutely no hate intended and I am sincerely do hope that MP pops up someday. The members here are among the most kind/ generous I've ever encountered on this forum. I've been fortunate to have found some great pieces from lovely resellers. I don't believe that any of the comments were intended for resellers in general.
Thank goodness for them. Otherwise we would never find our out of circulation treasures.

Well, you all raise interesting points. I have a few of the grails you've mentioned and I rarely wear one of them (for one, Mythiques Phoenix in the much wanted vert/anthracite/vanille). So if I were to sell it on Ebay for a fair price, what are the odds that a reseller will grab it, mark it up and make a nice profit on it? Or should I (theoretically, as I'm not selling it) , research it, see what they've been selling for and add the mark up myself?

It's a tough call. When something is priced high on the secondary market, do you start it at what is the going price or not? And I've sold scarves to PFers on outside selling platforms for a better price, only to see them turn around and sell them for double within a short period of time. You might think you are doing someone a good turn by pricing low but you just don't know. Once someone buys something, it's theirs to do with as they wish.

There are Grails on Ebay where the seller does not state the provenance of the scarf. That bothers me, as the price of grails is high to begin with. If the seller is the secondary or greater owner, they should state that, so that a potential buyer is totally aware of the ownership history of the scarf.

I see another Mont Sanct Michel has sold at super-high price. Does anyone here actually have this scarf? I don't suppose if you have it you wear it. I guess it's only for framing. I would love to see one IRL, or even modeling pix.
