But how do you know? Grails are common knowledge if you've been collecting Hermes scarves long enough. There are blogs out there that drive the market as well. Most grails consensus in fact come from those blogs, the lovely MaiTai's, for example.

Yes, it's really clear. If you watch eBay you notice what pops up. If something pops up within 24-48 hours after we discussed it here maybe it's a coincidence. But when that happens multiple times over several years by the same few resellers at ridiculous prices it's pretty obvious. In the long run it can't be good for business.

You look gorgeous with that purple! I can fully understand why this design is so widely loved now. It's stunning.
Cavalla Thank you so much , it's my only purple scarf so far .
I did have a purple Ombrelles Magiques by P Marie which was darker purple, but it always felt sombre so I rehomed it. In fact is was very beautiful , just not my thing.
Trying a really vibrant purple was the right decision!
I wasn't thrilled with the design when it came out, but after a couple of years observing how well it tied and how unusual it looks , I fell for it.

I agree with everything you have stated.
OK....RESELLERS If you are reading this and you have Mythiques Phoenix in the neutral colorway, will you please list it...sometime soon? Oh, and I will not be selling my extra kidney to purchase it so the price needs to be fair.

Remember scarves used to be $435? Plus tax it could be $470 in some places. Selling on Ebay with paypal fees, they cut about 15%. When it involves foreign exchange rate by PP, it could reach 20%. Just do the math how much that $470 scarf has to be listed so that reseller won't lose money, let alone make profit? $552 to break even at 15% fees, $587 at 20%. That's just breaking even, no profit at all and there's work involved here.
I know a reseller who sells scarves to be the bread winner because the spouse tragically lost job. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Just pass it on to the next buyer who's willing to pay the price and the reseller family can pay their bills. We don't know the story behind each price tag. If it's a popular grail, the reseller (sometimes he/she is a collector, too) might got it at a premium price as well. Then do the math again with the formula above. Not all high numbers mean greed.
Yes there's exception. I don't like seller who is blatant flipper, because I feel sorry for the original seller of the scarf.
This thread has turned into the hate thread against resellers of grails. It's not fair that we want their scarves at the price we want (otherwise, smash them here). Again, we don't know the story behind the price tag. If you don't like their price, just don't buy it. For me, it's such an easy rule.

Many times those overpriced scarves just sit there. Sometimes for months....sometimes for years. I've been watching certain scarves for that long - not a very reliable method for earning a living.

I remember when scarves used to be $300...and $275...and $250! They cost less than $400 for a lot longer than they cost more than that. Funny how you rarely see those low original prices on eBay....

I see this as well. There is a reason why those silks priced for 1,200 just sit.

Finally got it. At a premium but at least not the ridiculous robbery prices some have been charging. Next time I may keep my Grail to myself, as I think discussing it inspired the inflated pricing. C'est la vie!

This is lovely on you - we are cousins - I have the burgundy cw. My fave part are the 3 little mice! Enjoy your grail - it was well worth the hunt!

I have Grails to share , and look what arrived last week : La Pégase in Violet , my mega-grail .
I had given up hope and assumed the seller had rescinded , but I was so happily proved wrong!
This very strong purple is nowhere near my comfort zone of orange and red, but it is so divine I'm prepared to trowel on some makeup if need be.
For now with red lipstick and newly washed flyaway hair …..overloading the photos with this one as I was trying out pairings.View attachment 3387782View attachment 3387783View attachment 3387784

Love this on you, froufrou - and I love it with the stripes, too! Wish I could figure out how to pull that look off...

I don't think we've turned this thread into a hate thread. We respectfully discuss our love of grails, our shared experiences, and on occasion, our POV on prices. I learn so much from members' experiences and on occasion, contribute. I'm enormously grateful to members' contributions.
