Maybe, you could have called it "prune" instead of black...[emoji6] [emoji251] [emoji251]Minor confession: I had to try it on after dreaming about it for so long. This may not be in great form because I wound up returning it but I beg your indulgence in allowing me to share a mod shot, which is the only thing that can tide me over until I can find one that truly makes my heart sing.

Not a major grail, but a long-awaited acquisition. OK, maybe a minor grail.Since 2012 I have been interested in a scarf I saw in a photo. It was one of those that doesn't have a title, and I eventually found out it's called "Mail coach" or "Attelages." The CWs are all a bit weird (original issue 1953, reissue 1984, both are decades famous for horrible color combinations! LOL). The first photo is the one that captured my interest. Great design, horrible colors.
I acquired a white one, with blue, brown, and red details (and I showed it last week in SOTD) but have had my eye on a fabulous RED and BLUE CW for ages. After a second price drop last week, I made it mine. It has not been worn, and still has that starchy 80s feel, but I love the colors, even though they are bold. I wore it yesterday with even bolder red corduroy jeans and my farandole. Sorry the purple iPhone case clashes! Thank you for indulging my little story.

You had pink and blue CW of Turandot also? So interesting.Momasaurus I had to laugh! The red cw is actually perfect, but that first one?? It's amazing how different the scarves look in the different colors - in the top one, the horses look sick and it looks like they're riding through hazy slums! [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38] in the red/blue the horses look cheerful and healthy, and the locations look like promenades. So much better!
This is how I amuse myself. [emoji41]
And btw, I had that Turandot and the colors did NOT work on me - it's beautiful but not for everyone.

Anyway, Mailcoach comes to evilbay often and the CWs are quite astonishingly awful, I think. Sick horses and hazy fog indeed!

Aubergine! Thanks, BBC. In that case, the Turandot I returned is very very faded.Ha haaaaaa!!!! Seriously, those are the colors of feeling ill!
The official name for that Turandot border is Aubergine (eggplant). It's a dark purple.
Oh, please let us know if you grab a Mailcoach in an odd CW. You could probably make it work!Congrats momasaurus, it's lovely and looks like it ties well. This design has been on my 'minor grail' radar for a while. I can't say I'm overly fond of the grey/pastel cw of your first pic, but some of H's odd colorations are right up my alley -- I'm a bit weird, I own that olive green/acid yellow cw of the CSGM Etendards from a few seasons ago and I adore it![]()

Pirula - you are an evil scarf temptress bringing scarves to my attention I would have never found by myself! If it had not been for the conversation on tpf earlier about the large border and difficulty tying, I would be very tempted. But I do love the design just for it's beauty. It could fall under the "just take out and admire once in awhile" category for some scarf collectors.Wow everyone!!!! Trusted vendor (I've done business a few times) and comparatively decent price for this Grail:
