I am too afraid to bid without MT's blessing:smile1:

Thank you for the complement...

BUT I hope I have trained everyone well ... Get good photos !

Know yourself - if you want pristine , then ASK the seller , then dont trust the answer & check the photos for yourself - one man's pristine is another man's dishrag

Read the return policy BEFORE buying !

And at $900 GRAIL prices - be fussy BEFORE you buy, not after

It is OK to be emotionally involved with a grail, but do the above BEFORE & you will avoid headaches

You dont want to be questioning the purchase AFTER the fact - the going rate for a POST SALE authentication is like $150, you dont wanna go there - the seller will no longer be in a good mood

HINT: if a seller takes the time to do nice photos, and will answer inquiries,he/she will be easy to deal with

A seller who cant be bothered to take good photos ....

FINAL HINT If you contemplate spending over $400 (or so), do google to see what the going rate is, Is it currently for sale at hermes.com ?

Good advice, MT. I'm always more concerned about condition when they have blurry pictures. Fading, pulls, stains can't be seen and it ruins the excitement when receiving the grail.

Thank you purple poodles, I have to say again my picture did not do justice with the actual scarf despite the stains and snags (one I found almost half way across the scarf).

Thanks,Baltobag lady-I will check this out. It is so striking, is this along the hallway or dining area?
It is in my entryway. We bought three pieces from IKEA that make a lovely credenza across a wall that is over 14 feet wide! On the blue prints for the house, this part of the home is called "reception." It is a large space. All of my counter-top appliances live in there, LOL.

The piece under the scarf is one piece of the set that we bought. The next is a double stack of drawers and the next, identical to the first. It is about 12 feet long in total. My advice on this -- pay IKEA to ship and install. No muss, no fuss. It is a gorgeous piece, but I am not such a great photographer.

This may may give you a better idea, although a terrible photo.

The scarf is purposely uncentered. It's placement allows for the best light.

I think the system is still available on h.com. It is easy to hang. Measure 4 times, make sure you have a metric and regular ruler.

Hi. I have the Hermes Hanging System. It's more practical than framing and I can change out my art whenever I feel like it. We finally hung ours after we moved into our new home -- a year ago!! It's still a work in process, the kitchen is done and all that is left is the painting.
Anyway, the hanging system is so great and probably less expensive than framing.

Back to topic.

I have a million scarves but sometimes I zone out for a season.

I am looking for the clear white Quintessence 90 cm. It has some orange in it.
My other grails are rare and old and probably not attainable.

I really need to do a massive culling but my heart is not in it.
Would also love a Fleur Indiennes but have never found a color that suits me.

I just returned this Turandot grail to the seller because it is too faded for me to love. What a strange feeling! The blue/orange CW is still grailier for me, but I have always wanted this scarf and I adore this CW. I've recently acquired so many grails in silk, cashmere, and leather - maybe I need to keep a few "out there" to dream about! Anyone else get this feeling?

Yes, definitely. For me there were the ones I had to acquire in a mad dash, but those few are all done now. What remain are beauties that I hope to have one day, but can be patient in the meantime.

Was it faded because the seller had allowed it to fade? Or was it just too muted for your taste? I've had this happen with a couple of scarves actually. Was surprised when I saw them in person. For one, I went with a different cw that was brighter and just better for my coloring. For the other, the recent Amazones above, I loved it too much to return and am learning to work with it.

One thing is for certain in my opinion. With Grails, it's design and cw. So if the orange/blue is the one we truly want, that's the one we should wait for.

Pirula, you are so sweet! :hugs: The Turandot was actually faded, especially the borders, and the price was pretty good. I could have worn it, but something just didn't feel right.

I'm happy you are getting used to the Amazones. Do you worry that sometimes we are just TOO IMPATIENT?? :pout: I have really been on a buying spree and I need to slow down and enjoy my stuff. It helps to have friends to share the obsession!

Oh well then, faded is no good.

Impatient?? MOI??? It's my middle name. By far my worst fault I think. I strive to get better with age. I have, but I still fall very short.

I hear you on the buying spree; this past 12 months were that for me. I also must stop and enjoy what I have. The enjoying part shouldn't be too difficult! :coolio:

PS: Now I'm wondering what the previous owner did to it to fade it. Want to avoid that at all costs, but other than repeated washing or leaving it out in the sun......

Sorry it didn't work out for you, momasaurus. When I look closely to the zoomed pictures of this scarf, I could see faint water stains on the borders. So I think the fading was caused by wrong method/soap of handwashing, or just washed many times.

Absolutely! The last 2 years have been of a buying frenzy for me, but now that I have over 50 scarves, I feel myself slowing down. There are still a few older designs that I would love to have, but I am getting really picky on resale scarves- design, CW, seller, location( I don't want to deal with customs), condition, price. It's OK if I never buy them. Because if this, I have not bought any scarves off the bay in months.

I have actually reached a point where I prefer to try on the actual scarves before purchase and see how they look tied on me. Don't get me wrong, I have still managed to buy 5 scarves from SS2016!

Yes, I saw your fabulous haul from SS2016! Agree - best of all is playing with the actual scarf IRL. And I love what you said "It's OK if I never buy them." I am ALMOST at that place. Very wise, my dear. Thanks.:flowers::flowers::flowers:

Have not been reading threads regularly. Caught the part of buying spree Pirula & momasaurus . I traded scarves this year for handbags. All but one are Hermes. At least I have company. Every time I tell myself "that's it for a while" another comes along I imagine myself wearing. Hoping this will pass & I enjoy my purchases. I love them all. No regrets
Enjoy your Hermes[emoji93] (& anything else you bought)
