Baby Powder Trick? I do not know about this one...

Sorry about your fowl transaction. Something similar happened to me with Neige d'Antan: one or two stains were mentioned in the listing, but when I got it the christmas-y bias was full of food stains, very hard to hide. And pulled threads as well. It was obviously worn for Christmas dinner (or lunch). And because of all the things going on around the holidays I forgot to contact the seller. The stains were only faint after a nice bath in my sink and I got it way below retail...

Someone taught me this: if it's an oil based stain as quickly as possible cover the stain completely in baby powder. Let it sit overnight. Usually a few hours will do. Then shake off the powder and wipe any residual with a soft cloth. That has worked for me several times to lift off oil stains even when they were old. It's a very good trick to remember for table linens.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, it seems like we have all had one or two, this one was an expensive ouch.

Well it's a moot point. She won't budge. Live and learn. But do not trust this seller. Ask for more photos and be very skeptical. The listing was very dishonest. Her eBay user name is stephikins.

I thought 10% refund is fair! I go to a special dry cleaner for hermes scarf n chanel cardigan cleaning n this dry cleaner does a great job but expansive!!!! Did u open a case with PayPal for dispute? You r entitle to it

Ok I'll ask everyone's opinion on this: the fleurs d'indiennes was listed as excellent condition preowned. The photos were very carefully taken not to show one corner. I paid just over 500. There were other bidders as well. It arrived and had very obvious stains splattered in that one corner. They were very obvious. There was no way the seller missed them and her photographs carefully avoided showing that corner. I was able to get them out by about 80%. They are still there but less visible. It's wearable. I wrote her a note promptly stating that I thought it was a bit unfair to not be honest about the spots. To her credit she has offered a full refund or $15 credit to have it dry cleaned. Dry cleaning will not solve the problem. I asked for 10% refund. What do you think is reasonable in a case like this? Here's a photograph, there are several more spots like this. Notice the largest one on the pink flower. Lesson learned: make sure you can see all portions of the scarf clearly.

Ouch. I would have thought 10% was fair. As long as I get it for a good price, I am fairly forgiving about problems like this. But if it was pricey AND not mentioned....I wish she'd done you a little better than $15. Neutral feedback? Case for partial refund?

She hasn't even sent the $15! Will PayPal help with a partial refund do you think? Just avoid her. Not nice at all.

I'm sorry this has happened to you and on a much desired item no less. If you could take this discussion to the Ebay subforum there is s lot of great advice as to what to do in circumstances like this.

If this thread could go back to topic it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Today I hesitated on a major Grail...mythiques Phoenix.
The condition was used and I thought the price was high...
Of course it's now gone.
Boo hoo.

If you would have bought had it had been a better deal ,maybe it wasn't the one .
The reissues look good , don't they appeal to you?

Oh, that's a shame texasgirliegirl. Sigh, we've all be there with "the one that got away." :rain: I like to think of these as continuing my education on the "real" value of certain designs.

But take heart, PbP is right, Phoenix does come up comparatively often, especially the anthracite, if that's the one you missed out on. It tends to go for around $500 on average.

Frou frou is also right. The new ones are really quite pretty so that would be easier/quicker. But I know I had to have the anthracite and nothing else would do. So if that's where you're coming from, patience will pay off on this one and probably pretty soon.

You are so right!!
What initially held me back was the fact that this one had a very clear "used" disclaimer yet was over 500.
I'm always so touched by the incredible kindness, support and generosity of the lovely members on this thread. 🌸
