This B&W "La Femme ASDV" was sold for $880 even in that condition! I remember a few years ago prices could range $900-$1200 for this scarf in new condition. This piece keeps its top grail status and value.

That is crazy! I might be willing to go this high for this scarf (and I am cheap so that is saying a lot), but not in damaged condition!

I also like how the red Turandot, which is priced at almost $900, on the Bay has like 30+ watchers. I wonder if anyone will ever pull the trigger for that one.

Was the scarf in bad condition? And, is the scarf a "grail" no matter the colorway? Just wondering, because it was never one of my favorite designs.

It's been worn, has wrinkles (based on pictures), has a snag and no box.
Yes, this is a grail design for many (all cw's).The B&W colorway is the most wanted and always commands the highest price in resale market. Maitai calls this her chameleon scarf in her blog. It's my favorite, too.

For me to buy a grail at an "unreasonable" price, it has to be in pristine condition. I have to be the one to inflict the damage!

I would say that the three that go for the highest amounts consistently and therefore must be the most sought after are ex libris en kimonos, Turandot and Cest la fete. There is a long list of others that are popular but do not attract as high a price. And we all have our individual grails of course.

Thankyou! Off to look those up! Ex libris en kimonos is already on my grail list, totally my kind of pattern 😍

Oh my. I don't mean to fuel the fire. My advice is to look at blogs, tpf etc and see what appeals to you, not to just follow others. These things are so individual. My most treasured Grail was a 70 cm that not many people are interested in other than me and which I purchased for $135.

Yes I agree. And even then I don't think I could ever go this high for a 90 cm. I hope the person loves it 900 worth (shipping was extra) and that the money went to a good cause. I had no idea they sold for so much in the past.

Sounds like the black commands a higher price. I found a pink and beige for less than retail not too long ago. The black is truly beautiful. We all have limits of what we are willing to pay. I guess I just learned what mine was- 900! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

No way! Do you mean you are the one who got it?? (if so you own us action pics:cool:)
Whenever I bid on a scarf on the bay I wonder if the other bidders are tpf-members...

Edit: I read the other posts again, sorry for the misunderstanding...

Dearest dearest Momasaurus, I promised you pics of a scarf that you are 100% responsible for my getting. See? There's no need for you to even be in the same room, as delightful as that must be.

No, from the moment I first saw you model this about what, a month back, and mention the word "Karnak" I was lost. It became an instant Grail for me and I stiffened my resolve for what I believed must be a long, drawn out search. Imagine my surprise when a trusted seller, with whom I've done business in the past, had it in excellent condition for well below resale. [emoji15][emoji126]🏻🍾

Aside from the fact that it's absolutely exquisite, I've been longing for an Egypt scarf, but had seen nothing I loved. This was love at first sight, and the fact that it evokes my favorite place in all of Egypt was just too much! I went so many times while living there.

When I researched and discovered it was only made in jersey and mousseline, I decided to get my first mousseline as well! See your power Momasaurus??

So, here it is, my exquisite new beauty thanks entirely to Momasaurus. I will be eternally grateful.

PS: I can't tell if this is your cw, mine has pink and orange, yours looks entirely pink. I hope you like it and don't mind imitation. It's truly a very sentimental one for me. You can clearly see I don't have a clue what I'm doing with it, btw. Must search for moussie wearing pointers!

Friends, this is an incredible day. My holiest of holy grails arrived. My ex Libris shawl. Faint. View attachment 3277892View attachment 3277893View attachment 3277894

Congratulations to both of you!
Even though neither of these is a grail for me it always makes me happy to see reveals like these. Thank you for sharing your joy, it makes me happy as well.
BTW: you are both great at styling them, have a good time harvesting compliments in real life ;)

No! No! It wasn't me.i meant that 900 was above my limit. No way. Not for a 90.

Thanks for your sweet compliment on my shawl. I was super excited to get it.

Well, I've never posted photos before, so this could go terribly badly. But I'll give it a go.

Oooh, you managed a knot that shows the mice
Especially like the little bits of pale pink.

A difficult tie? Just when you think you're ready to go out and you take a picture for your tPF friends and THE LOGO IS SCREAMING. This was me a few weeks ago. View attachment 3279332

Here is my "Les Toits de Paris" in all its cuteness! Forgive the folds; I like to wear my scarves to get all the possible joy out of them!

Thank you both for the photos!

It makes my decision even harder. There is one at vestiaire for 350€ that I look at every day. white center with orange chimneys, light blue border. Imagine with jeans, white shirt and an orange handbag...
But I already have ather scarves that would fill the gap: there is marche au zambese (white background, orange flowers), There is Voyage de Pytheas with a predominantely white bachground and a greenish pastell border with some orange and the B/W ciels byzantinnes, Jardins d'Andalusie with its oranges and light blue border.
Since Christmas I got 1 CSGM, 2 90ies and there are some of the current season including a Mousssie I consider buying. And I still hope for my holy grail (de la mer in blue) to magically appear. Today I had to pay 93€ customs and taxes for a 200€ ebay bargain :nogood:.

Seriously, I do not need Toits.
But it is soo sweet...
But the more scarves I own, the less I wear each of them...
But tis CW look s so crisp and cool....
Interest rates get worse every week, better spend my money...
Could spend on something else, I already own enough scarves...
Maybe an orange halzan?
Who am I kidding........

Can one of you please be a real friend and get the one on vestiaire to free me from the temptation?
