Well guys......given the prices these days on eBay Muffin and I are abstaining for a while on bidding and buying unless it's something I just know I can't live without. And there aren't too many of those items. I just refuse to get into bidding wars and pay some of these ridiculous prices. I think when we talk things up here, it effects the pricing on eBay. Call me cynical but I've been around the block a few times and I'm thinking we're doing ourselves a huge disservice when we chat too much about certain designs....especially when I see the words, "grail scarf" in the description! LOL!!!!!

FWIW, I've noticed this too.

I mean, it's fun to chat about our favs and our desires (I love doing this along with everyone else) but knowing that this is a forum widely read by all then we need to expect the prices to go up and not only on those pieces that we are actively looking for but across the board. When there's demand there are also price increases.

In fact, this very subject has been actively discussed on another Hermes Scarf forum so......I, for one, will live vicariously through everyone else for awhile!

S`Mom, totally agree with you.
Unsurprisingly, whenever we post our "grails", they seem to crop up on eBay or whatever.
Its awful, because it pushes the prices up, but some people are willing to pay the price!!!
What can we do????
Maybe, just post our grails after we got them???:yahoo:

^^^this is kind of why I'm leery to post my grails...

seems a shame, I know....short of private pms, I'm at a loss...so I tend to go it on my own.

I recently scored my final grail scarf (for now, anyway :smile1: ) - one I searched for in Europe, the UK, and the US, one I nearly had my hands on (in a slightly diff c/w), twice......I got her yesterday, a pavements shawl in blue (with 31 indigo fjord Bolide) - :yahoo: she was a wily adversary!

Katel, Congratulations. It looks gorgeous on you. I have the same one!!!
We are cashmere twins.
I love it.
I have just ordered the EA GM shawl in blue (marine) aswell, hoping it will go with all my darker jeans and BJ Kelly aswell.

GORGEOUS, KATEL! It's wonderful when we find the ones we really, really want!!!! I've been lucky a number of times too, which I've shared.....but lately I've adopted your philosophy....mum's the word!

I agree, we do see a surge in prices as things are mentioned on this board, whether it is scarves or barenia, or whatever. I have noticed this for a while.

I definitely think s'mom is on to something....

(that being said, I am expecting delivery of one this week...LOL)

Katel, that shawl is stunning.
Congratulations, it's deeelish on you!!!

Well said ! The Ebay sellers all read these forums & are happy to exploit our foibles - grails pop up at mile-high prices whenever they are discussed on these forums

I, for one, shall wait for prices to fall & boycott the sellers that seem to be charging astronomical prices

Same here. I won't stop mentioning what I'm looking for on here because I've had fab help and tip offs as a result from a number of lovely tPFers but I know my limits and will not pay more than I think is reasonable.

I noticed that with the black Art de Steppes - suddenly they were being listed with an over retail BIN when I never noticed them for going for anywhere near that much in the past. So I waited and finally sniped mine and about 50% of current retail in pretty much perfect condition. I also always wait and snipe auctions at the last moments rather than entering into bidding wars early on and unnecessarily bumping the price up.
