also I wipe my bags down with a damp cloth then I let them dry then I polish them with a dry cloth then I wear them so that the natural oils in my hands condition the bag. You can't do half of a process and expect it to be perfect. it's like washing your car and then saying my car is wet what do I do. You have to do the next step and dry it. You see what I'm trying to say. you can care for your bags anyway you like. I choose to clean mine with water. Also take into consideration that it depends on what was done to your bag before you started cleaning it. This is especially hard with pre-owned bags or bags that have had leather conditioner cleaners and baby wipes applied to them.:0

My SA always tells me not to use anything unless there is a problem

Wiping down is fine but treatments hould be avoided

Even on shoes, my suede, she says LV does treat them and no other treatments are necessary just a simple wiping

Patina will happen and it takes time...I personally don't own one because I don't like the Look of it, I prefer leather bags...but over time they look good none the less

Awesome:smile: Not everyone can Be Amazing  I just feel bad for all the people who dont listen

All I can do is share my Journey with my bags. I have alot of people who listen and some who dont . however most that dont alway come back for help:sad: most of the bags on the preloved market are ruined because they dont care how they clean them :'( my bags will always be gorgeous :*
Yes some bags on the preowned market are just hideous due to the owners neglect. And they expect them to sell, when they don't--they gotta lower the price and lose money. You don't have to baby your bags but you should have the inclination to take care of your stuff especially when they cost a fortune (even if money's no object to you, it still holds value). People post model shots of their bags placed on the ground in parks where dogs&cats&birds **** and piss or a public restroom floor; throw pens&markers in there so the interiors get inked up, throw bottles in there so the vachetta gets water spots or molded interiors...just to name a few things I've seen when I was considering preowned. It really doesn't take much to follow few simple precautions.

Baby wipes came from my SA although she says to use non alcoholic.

I still use a damp cloth or damp paper towel
If you look at the back of the non alcoholic wipes packages and read the ingredients you'll see a bunch of foreign chemicals that you probably have no idea what they'll do to your bags.
After speaking & interrogating SA's on number of occasions, I've concluded that many of them don't know what the heck they talk about. It's just a job for some. The internet has more answers than any SA/CS can/willing to give you but you just have to use your brain to figure what's true and what's not true.

Don't quote me on this because I'm not absolutely certain but what type of cloth did you use..was it something hard like a towel or was it soft...you should use a cotton fabric...and did you rub it hard and fast or did you rub slowly in a circular motion...I think these might be factors as to why your leather seems dry...

DH came up with a perfect way to patina (patinate?) our vachetta. He actually lets it suntan naturally without be benefit of an SPF. He leaves it in a sunny spot in the house and turns it periodically. This is the way we baby boomers used to tan yourselves before we knew the horrors of sunburn.
As far as water is concerned, I'm wondering if that pertains to the coated canvas.

It should be pointed out that vachetta leather is very different from other kinds of leather, which are finished. Most conditioners have a warning not to use on unfinished or vachetta leather. On regular treated leathers, most conditioners are safe to use and actually improve the leather, as it loses moisture over time that needs to be replenished.

I got my advice on how to treat vachetta from a website like this: https://www.lollipuff.com/blog/223/how-to-refurbish-a-louis-vuitton-bag#comment-start=end I've used it several times. For cleaning, I use white vinegar rather than water. Vinegar has a ph that is closer to the ph of leather so it is less harsh than water. Water can cause water spotting. Vinegar can help minimize water spotting. I'll dip the magic eraser in vinegar rather than water.

You don't need to condition your vachetta but if you want to, Cadillac conditioner won't change the color or damage the leather. It will provide a layer of protection against stains.
