Would you bring a high end bag to college classes?

Personally, I always try to dress up nicely for classes. I feel it's an absolute disrespect to the professor/whoever's teaching if I turn up looking unkempt and like I just rolled out of bed. So yes, I will bring a high end bag to college. In fact, I carried my Bal and am currently taking my Spy along because all I really need to have is a notebook and a small pencil case. On days when I do carry my laptop along, I just hold it in my hand. I hate having the extra weight on my shoulders.

No only because I don't think my Paddington would assist me in any way with holding notebooks and textbooks. If anything, it would add extra weight!

For uni classes, I currently carry an Esprit tote that is extremely roomy - it does the job. Or else, I'll use a backpack if I need to borrow lots of heavy books from the library.

Save your high end bag for other times such as when you go out.

I only use practical stuff for college/work. I usually carry a laptop in a Crumpler bag so I stuff my books in with that. I only need a handbag for my purse/mobile/ipod/keys, and don't need anything big and bulky as I'm already lugging a laptop bag around. I wouldn't take anything like a Paddington - too heavy, too impractical and I'd be worried about it getting ruined.

I like to dress nice too:supacool:

If it fits a purpose then WHY not?

i wouldn't bring a clutch (no matter how much i paid for it) to class because i'd have to carry everything else in my hands

but then again i wouldn't bring a huge tote to a bar or church because I don't need to bring that much stuff there

if it serves a purpose, then why not bring it? even if it is to satisfy your ego a little bit --you pay all this money for bags, show them off, give yourself the satisfaction of wearing your bag out in public

and for those who say "school is for learning" and what not, then why even bother with designer anything? this principle can be applied to any life situation "church is for praying, not showing off", "restaurants are for dining, not showing off" etc. so you might as well not buy anything designer because judgin by this principle you buy designer stuff just to show off

THE POINT: we all live different lifestyles, you bought the bag because you like it, wear it where you want it!

i'm still in high school and all the girls around me are wearing Coach and etc. it's a like a fashion show. one time, i brought out my michael kors tote out because i couldn't find a bag that would fit all my books.. my north face, yes, i own one, has been missing for quite a while. when i brought it in, the girls around me were having a field day trying to figure out who michael kors was. lol. there was even this one girl saying my bag was fake. :wtf: the next day, i'm ashamed to say that i needed a small taste of revenge so i brought my chanel tote to school just to show her i wasn't a joke. after that, all my designers were never seen again. hehe.

I wouldn't want to stride around showing off in a 1,000 bag. i go to school in NYC, although it's pretty common to see girls wearing expensive clothing and bags to school, i still wouldn't want to be in the competition. Any attention is too much attention for me. i like to stay low-key. The only designer brand i'd wear to school is Coach. It's cheap and durable material.
