Would you bring a high end bag to college classes?

I would take mine. I have in the past. I buy them to enjoy, I don't worry about what other people think.

Although I'm not in college anymore - grad a few years ago, but I did take mine to school. I don't carry non-designer bags. I just think that I can afford them, why hide them? I don't care what people think. When I was in school, I carried an LV messenger bag for my laptop & other stuff. :smile1:

I don't see the big issue w/carrying your purses to class, it's a "purse" for goodness sake-LOL Regardless, of the brand they all serve the same basic purpose...(and this is coming from someone who doesn't own a high-end purse)

I don't have the time nor the enery to spend my time wondering if that girl carry a LV, Gucci, etc...is doing it to be showing or if she is carrying it because it's holds her "stuff"....who cares!!

When you go to class your purse ends up on the back of your seat, desk in lecture hall, floor etc...When you graduate and get a job your purse ends up in a locked drawer in your cube, locked closet, etc...:shrugs:-don't see much difference IMO, you might as well carry and enjoy it.:p..

i carry name brand purses to class, i just like to match them with my outfits (and it makes it more fun than just using longchamp le pliages every day)

i don't bring monogrammed bags though (simply because i don't like them), so i mean, i guess only people who were into bags would know what i'm carrying and people are too into class anyways to pay attention to what bag i'm using!

If I really like the bag, of course!
On Friday I took a Christian Dior bag to school && I'm a sophomore in high school. It was the boston girly. It started raining though! Thankfully, my baby was unharmed lol. The thing is, believe it or not.. not most people would even recognize if your bag is designer. Unless its Louis Vuitton or Coach, most would consider it a regular bag. Sad but true.
A guy actually asked me what 'DIE-OR' was.

I totally agree. I bring all my bags to class with me no matter what brand.

I think I probably already posted on this but I recently returned to post-grad study and yeah, I take whichever bag I'm using at the time to classes. I'm post-grad, have spent 4-5 years in the workforce since getting my bachelors' degrees, I work and study so I'm not going to dress like an undergraduate - I'm going to dress like who I am: a young woman who is getting her Masters AND working as legal counsel.

I agree generally with the comments that people should be paying attention to what is going on in class, not what people are carrying to class and it is just a bag.

I would have no problem carrying a designer bag to class or work if the situation is appropriate. If I am going to lecture where I am going to sit with my purse the whole time and it holds what I need for the day, I would bring it. If I really just need a bookbag, I would just bring that and leave my purse home. If I'm going to work or going to be in a situation where I can't watch my purse at all times, no I would not bring it. It is not safe to leave a purse lying around no matter how trustworthy you think the others are.

A word to the wise: I have had too many friends have their stuff stolen and it is ALWAYS when they thought they left it in a "safe" place that ended up not being so "safe." We are talking a workplace purse cabinet, locked rooms only some had access to, classrooms, dorm rooms, etc. All of these people had their things taken by people they knew. Not necessarily friends, but people they knew and thought they could trust. It is never safe to leave anything, but a designer bag is like a bull's eye and more likely to be rifled through than something inconspicuous.

I'm currently a college student and I do take my higher end bag to school. A handbag, in my opinion, is meant to be used. I used to not take them to class and then they would sit in my closet and collect dust. Whats the good in that?

I take my high end bags to class every day. I bought them and I'll use them, I really don't care what people think. Never liked how a backpack looked, but then again I never have to bring books to class anyway! Perks of college.

The debate about how to dress for college classes will rage on, here and other places, without resolution until the heat death of the universe, but for my part: I dress nicely (meaning matching to the extent possible, light makeup, shouldn't even have to point out 'showered', nice bag). I am there to learn but that will not divert me from dressing to please myself and look decent.

I say please yourself! No one else will.

I wear a preowned, extremely functional Chanel to school. I don't even think about what bags I carry or even trying to dress up because I am so busy with school. There are more important things to think about, and I leave fashion for my free time.

As someone who is currently in professional school (e.g. med school) I find the thought of anyone wearing a bag to show off ridiculous! :nogood: I'm not trying to be rude but what are you in school for - to get an education. It's okay to buy a bag and love it and want to wear it but not if your intent is to prove that you can afford something that others can not or to make other people jealous. I really think you need to think about the reasons why something like this would matter to you so much and what you would gain out of bringing such a bag to school.

I completely agree with you. Personally from my experience in collage every girl I saw with a designer bag seemed like she was showing off. I think its tacky and it causes unnecessary attention, but maybe thats just me.
