Workout clothing brands (Lululemon alternatives)

I like the tennis brand Lija and some Zella pieces from Nords.
I also like some of the Under Armour yoga pieces they've been making and Hard Tail as well.
I used to like Lucy a lot until they started hiking up their prices to Lulu level

I have tons of Nike stuff and it's fine for the technical aspects, but not as cute or stylish as lululemon, imo. In college under armor sponsored our team so I still have tons of that stuff left over--it is anywhere from 5-9 years old and still holding up so I guess that counts for something!! I highly doubt most of my lulu would last that long. For some reason, though, neither of those have the appeal of lululemon--I guess it's just clever marketing...

There is a point IMHO where workout clothes needs to be functional, not just cute.

95% of my workout bottoms are black (maybe some have a little color on the sides)n otherwise not super stylish, lol.

I like Lululemon, but most of the appeal comes from the waistband and typically my shirts cover the waistband.

I still lurk in the lululemon thread, for the day I decide to buy something.

I like Lulu.
I have Nike clothing and love their jackets much more. Lulu jackets hurt my wrists a lot. Although it seems like good and comfy, it is so narrow, it is just alleviate the carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms I have.
I like Under Armour and Victoria's secret.
Bebe clothes looks so cute when you size 2 or 4.

Ellie used to be known as pv.Body (not sure if this is helpful, but I heard more about pv.Body versus Ellie).

There are many complaints on their FB page about not receiving orders. Apparently they were/are? a subscription company where you pay $50 a month and you get items from a list of curated brands, like Lululemon. However, they switched in January to their own designs and own brand, Ellie. They claim to use the same fabrics and everything as Lululemon... If anyone tries out Ellie, please report back! :smile1:

I've never understood the allure to Lululemon.

Other brands seem to have quality that lasts as long. I don't see the quality of Lululemon being equivalent to the price. With certain things, like 1990s Nike shoes, the quality seems to last long enough to somewhat justify the price. I still have some Nike shoes from high school that are just as wearable now as they were then. Even my Speedo swimsuit from 9th grade still is wearable and not worn-out looking despite wearing it so much. That's good quality. Not with Lululemon in my book. I don't see the Lululemon quality as "wow-ing" or above-average.

Plus, you're sweaty and working on it it. I don't have a desire to pay a lot of money for something I sweat in. But, maybe that's just me.

Lululemon stuff is cute enough.

I guess I just don't understand the appeal of overpriced, average quality workout wear.

Target has cute but cheap(er) alternatives.

I ordered a couple of pants from Ellie, and am waiting for them. They had some difficulty with the online processing of orders, which was annoying, but with the discount for President's Day I figured it wasn't a huge layout of cash if I didn't like them. Customer service seemed to be responsive so we'll see if I A) get what I ordered and B) the adjustments show up (I was billed twice).

They have two options, subscription and ordering as you go. I think each month is a different 'collection.'

I will report back.

I like about 10% of Lucy items. I have 4 items from there, all bought on sale. A jacket/vest thing, two compression bra tops, and a cute hooded long-sleeved tee. There was even a short window where I was able to get some of it from TJMaxx.

Otherwise, for most of the Lucy items, I tend to think they're boring and overpriced. Quality is hit/miss but that's with every brand.

Reporting on Ellie!

I bought 2 pairs of leggings - one My New Obsession and a Kiss Me Capri.

They are thinner than Lulu, but seem to be the same fabric (or close) as the Grooves. The butt doesn't look quite as good as mine does in Lulu, and I don't like the waistband on the Obsessions.

However, I DO like:

The lines on the Obsessions, very flattering.
The waistband on Kiss Me.
The price difference.

The other problem seemed to be problems with the website. I got double billed. They did, however resolve it and the customer service was good. The President's Day sale pushed my order into backorder and I had to wait a while. However, I feel like those kinks will get ironed out (I have a soft spot for startups).
