Working at Hermes

They can not buy the bags inside the shop stock, neither their family. But if a SA wants to have a bag for self use, either she can wait for the discount event with good price and staff letter on, or ask the shop manager and only with permit, they could buy at the same price as other clients. That doesn't happen a lot, as really the bags are too expensive for us, even with discount, not mention without discount.
The craft group(who make bags, not the SAs) in the company can make one bag for themselves each year but of course with special mark on the bag.

I've always wondered about this, so thanks so much for sharing how it works!

High volume resellers don't show up at a store and try to buy multiple bags. They generally have a large network of people buying for them, and these are often respected VVIP customers who do have access to a lot of bags. So few are using a single credit card or name that can be pounced on as a reseller. Sure, there are individuals who flip bags and may operate on a smaller scale with a few friends. Their purchases (or attempted purchases) would stand out more. Not to mention Hermes does know who the high volume resellers are and pretty much all of them are still able to obtain bags on their own at the stores as well if they wish to. Hermes is unlikely to be able to "target" or banish resellers in the way you have described. And if they are, they aren't doing a very good job of it.
I believe Rom, he's worked for Hermes. Have you?

This is my understanding from my SA as well - the client information between countries is not directly connected but FSH is able to request (and does) for the purchase history of a specific client from their home country store so they "can serve them better." (Their words, not mine!)

You always hear stories from those who have received a bag at FSH saying that when they asked for a bag, the SA went in back and was gone for a very long time, usually around 20 minutes. Maybe that's one of the things they are doing in back when they are gone for so long. Perhaps they are checking the customer's history and trying to assess if they are likely a reseller or a real customer. I'm glad they can access records from other countries. If I ever make it to FSH in Paris, I would like the SA to know I am a loyal customer back in the U.S.

This thread is years old. If you read back, both Mistikat and "Rom" were correct. No need to be combative toward a respected moderator and member of the forum who's been through quite enough.

Actually, I never post here anymore because of attitudes like hers...calling someone out and basically accusing them of lying when they are just trying to help and give information. It was obvious Rom was being sincere. I hate to see someone being treated like that when they are obviously sincere and answering in a forthright, honest way. If she's no longer a moderator, perhaps that's why.

Mistikat is no longer a moderator based on changing schedule, not because she was a gatekeeper. Seeing you're fairly new on the forum, you may not have the full history of how this works. Misitkat has been a respectful and long time moderator here.

Someone named QuelleFromage apparently left a comment on this thread stating this: "This thread is years old. If you read back, both Mistikat and "Rom" were correct. No need to be combative - Misti won't respond because this kind of tone drove her away from tPF quite a while ago......"

That's the comment that came to my email Inbox, that informed me she was no longer a moderator. I had no idea she was ever a moderator...I don't know who the moderators are.

I noticed when I visited the thread here at the Purse Forum, the comment had been changed to this:
"This thread is years old. If you read back, both Mistikat and "Rom" were correct. No need to be combative toward a respected moderator and member of the forum who's been through quite enough."

So apparently, QuelleFromage either deleted the other comment she had made or was able to go in and change it. Perhaps she's a moderator and can make changes to her comments?.

So, when I said that perhaps that's why she's no longer a moderator, I was basing it on that comment that came to my Inbox. If you want a screen capture of the comment, I can provide it.

From the brief period of time I been visiting here, I've been shocked at how some of the other members attack those who are only trying to be helpful, like Rom. I had no idea who Mistikat was or that she was a moderator, I simply felt bad for Rom that he or she was being kind enough to share some inside information, but then was being treated like he didn't know what he was talking about. I, for one, really appreciated some of the information he was sharing and wish more employees of Hermes and similar stores would offer us insights into how things work behind the scenes. But if they are always treated like they are lying or giving incorrect info, they will never be willing to offer any information...and I don't blame them.

I agree with you.

I edited my post, which anyone can do within the first five minutes or so. I stand behind what I said in both versions but I do have the right to adjust my wording.
No need to screenshot.

As is your right. Peace out.
Oh let me clarity. I didn't mean I agreed with anything to do with your edit, except the last paragraph. That part is irrelevant to my post. I was just very taken aback by Misti's response to Rom. I thought it was rather unwelcoming as well and we do realise they are both correct, for their respective experiences on different continents. No fight with you here at all. Peace.

To clarify:

Anyone can edit their posts with a short period of time. You can see the stages under 'history' if that's applicable.

Mistikat is no longer a mod but she is a valued member of our community. What has been said a long time ago should be left in the past, move on. Being combative about others being combative doesn't work. There is an 'Ignore' feature in our settings. If someone grates on you please use it, it's very useful. I am one of the few that can't use it because I need to know what's going on but I have used it the past and tPF life was pure pleasure.

Let's get back to topic please. 'working-at-hermes'

I believe the reasons why I no longer moderate were fairly well covered here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/somethings-missing.988469/

I'd also add that none of you were privy to the PMs I received from this poster, or the information moderators have about posters. Let me just put it this way - there was no real inside information. And I say that based on what I learned from and about that poster, what I know about Hermes and what I have been told directly from my own SAs and experiences with Hermes where I live and on my visits to FSH and Pantin. Anyone can and frequently does come on a public forum to claim inside info that they just don't have.

Bear in mind that moderators know more about what is going on behind the scenes when posters post than other members.

Just saying.

Not sure if this thread will go on for long as we’re here as customers  but today I browse the job openings in Hermes and found really interesting ones all over the world.https://talents.hermes.com/en/. A few examples:
  • logistic manager in SG? For all those stock questions that keep on popping up in Hermes Singapore thread?
  • How about store director position in Toronto? To combat the chronic supply issue of the Toronto store?
and they are big on compliance and audit, to fight things like money laundering. If I were to audit a store, I would probably get lost in the store stock room…
