Woodbury Common Outlet

I've lived in the NYC area for a long time and have been going to Woodbury for years. It definitely used to be better, even great, back when all outlets used to be "real" outlets. Now when I go up, I like to take Shortline, and skip the coupon book for sure-- personally I do not like the hassle of NJ transit to save a few bucks, nor do I like to drive. If I am trying to find something specific, forget it.
These days I think of it as a nice day trip out of the city-- sometimes I even take a day off work alone just to relax and spend a weekday up there. I love the outdoor setting and fresh mountain air around you (it's in a pretty area), and yes, shopping is actually relaxing for me. The stores are definitely better than lots of outlets elsewhere, but not so great that it's a "must do". I sometimes come back empty handed, sometimes laden down with packages.

Well said. It's totally a crapshoot these days.

I think the Woodbury outlet is one of the worse for traffic, parking, congestion and deals. Too many people now go to this outlet so if you want outlet prices sty clear, you would be better off getting a deal at Nordstrom, Saks or Bloomingdales. I have been to this outlet 2 weeks ago and scored better deals in the other outlets such as VIneland in Orlando (there is a Prada there) or the Gucci outlet near Washington, D.C.

Don't disagree... plus there are NO RETURNS at these outlets

With NM Last Call & others, you can return, if need be

I must have visited Woodberry at just the right time! Even though there were a lot of cars in the parking lots, the mall itself didn't seem super crowded. We even managed to score an up close parking spot. We went on July 3 so maybe it was less crowded because of the holiday. You're right, the deals weren't all that amazing.

I agree that outlets in Orlando are fabulous! I try to go there at least once each year. I haven't been to the DC Gucci outlet. Do you know that name of that outlet mall?

I went there last June - was hoping for a Chanel bag (the 2.55) - not a hope in hell!:shame:

Oh gosh no..my guess is that a store employee would grab it before it even hits the sales floor.. You MIGHT find misc Chanel clothing at last call, off 5th, or barney's.. But i don't recall ever seeing handbags at woodbury.. Except when the chanel outlet was open .. And even then, it was usually limited edition bags.. Not the classics

I was there last Wednesday and did super well.

A whole wall of designer pants at Barney's was $20. I walked away with 8 pairs from J Brand, Current/Elliott, James Jeans, Rag and Bone & Mother. 7/8 were colored pants (black, white, orange, electric blue) and 1/8 was blue jeans.

Also at Barneys I grabbed a Helmut Lang and Trovata sweater for $30 and $20 respectively.

They also had a suede lime green PS1 bag for $799, which I was seriously lusting after. Sigh.

At the Prada outlet I scored a pair of Miu Miu wooden sandals with a silk blue print for $120.

James Perse is where I stocked up on various basics (tees were $19-39).

Lastly, at Chloe I got a white sweater for $100 (90% off) and two pairs of shoes (one nude strappy heel; one nude and black wedge) each about $60 (90% off). I'm lucky I have big feet (38.5-40) or I would have walked out empty handed.

Woodbury is totally up to luck. When you hit it at the right time, you walk out feeling like you robbed the place. My biggest steal there is still a pair of grey BCBG pumps for $9 from $300.

I haven't read this whole post so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned. I went today and attempted to leave around 1:30 PM. I didn't actually exit the parking lot till 3:30. I have never seen such a traffic nightmare. Apparently it's a common occurrence. Give yourself plenty of time. Not happy. What a waste of time.

Yes, this happens every weekend. Holidays are much, much worse. It can take hours just to get into the parking lot and then hours just to find a space.

Black friday I need to factor in 4 hours just to get in and park, unless I get there really early. Then its at least another 3 hours to leave.

Weekdays are easy, I usually go on a weekday just so I can park and leave in peace.

I went to weeks ago on a tuesday and it was parking everywhere and no problems leaving.

Hi HermesNewbie,

The Gucci outlet near Washington DC is called Queenstown Premium Outlet. It is one of the smallest outlets I have been too, nevertheless it has the Gucci Outlet. The thing I like about this outlet is that is not busy at all, the Gucci outlet had one other person other than me and I have been there 3 times already. The deals are ok, depends on what you are looking for. They have some limited bags that have been greatly reduced, same as shoes and boots but it is a hit and miss like all outlets. Good luck
