Sorry I only saw this quote today! No showcase just yet. Maybe after when I get my HG! :smile1: I know what you mean by "understand my bag style"! I went through different stages and I am a lot happier with my collection now compared to 5 years ago!

Ohh cant wait to see when you get your HG :D ive gone through my collection and put loads up for sale to make room for more bags that will work better with my wardrobe, theres still some i love but dont use all that much and would only sell if i found one of the bags on my list

Hmmmm...GREAT-and loaded-question! I think I have gotten to the point where I am satisfied with my wardrobe. Bags? Eh, I don't know if I will EVER feel "done." That said, handbags are my weakness. I think, like someone else mentioned, I own my Top 5 (maybe Top 10,) so I am contented, that way. But bags make my heart race and they make my knees weak. There will always be another "it" (for me) bag. Different strokes for different folks; some like to get their hair and nails done, some like to have the latest and greatest jeans, some care about the newest makeup trends, or what have you. I splurge on my bags and wallets! :D

Im glad you like it :) i dont yet own my top 5 im very close though :) i feel the same way like many do when they find beautiful shoes or a nice dress id rather buy a bag every time :)

I don't want a huge collection of bags, and I generally live by the phrase "travel light through life" - I want few but perfect bags (same with clothes, although it's a bit harder!).

That said my collection is still growing, as I am a younger student and don't have all the money in the world. My HG is not in my collection yet, but I plan on getting it when I'm done with my master.

So I'm confident that I'll be content with my collection at some point and only add a bag once in a while (like normal, non-bag-crazy people do :D )

I was going to say that I'm content with my collection (4 bags and 3 clutches) but the truth is, I've gotten bored with bags.
I agree with others who said they've gotten bored with bags. My obsession for LV was strong for the past two years and I didn't necessarily have a wish list, but I have purchased everything that appealed to me. The last bag on my list I'm not sure I even want anymore, I don't like Chanel or Hermes so it seems like the buck stops here. I feel like the thrill is gone and I need to replace it with a new obsession. But I'm not into clothes, shoes or jewelry. :pout:

It's gonna take a loooooong time though! Talking about years, not months! Unfortunately it just doesn't come very often, unless I want to fork out a substantial amount over retail price, which I will not do no matter what.

Editing your collection is great! It feels so good when things start to fall into places! Don't sell too many just yet and think about whether you will like something later on. Life do change and something doesn't suit now doesn't mean it won't suit in future. :smile1:

I am not sure if I will ever be content but I have got rid of bags that weren't me/didn't use. All the bags I own now get used and I would like another mulberry Bayswater (black with nickel hardware as I prefer silver/white gold/platinum), another medium lily and some cheaper totes to compliment the Neverfull, possibly from MK. My obsessions tend to last a couple of years so I am sure I will calm down if I have something else to focus on, like kids! ;-)

Our being discontented is a human thing in my opinion. I have loved clothes and bags since i was a kid. But in my early 20s my taste has been increasingly pricey. Last year i bought about 10 bags or more, sorry i lost count. :D i still have a lot of bags in my wishlist and i disciplined myself to buy a maximum of 3 bags in a year. Already bought 2 (cant help it). I use my bags alternately every week, im afraid if i use them more than that it might easily get worn out. :) i saw a lot of preloved bags that were very worn out and realized that its not worth the money coz it will really depreciate but i still love bags. And im also starting to buy jewelry coz i know it wont depreciate. Sorry for the mixed emotions/ signals im still confused if ill push through with my bag addiction haha lol!

Something fun that might curb (or at least slow) the frequency of purchasing is to set up a couple of boards on Pinterest. I have one board that includes photos of everything in my collection, and another that represents my wish list. If I don't buy everything I wish for immediately, it's kind of surprising to see whether I'm still interested in it a few months later. Many times, I am not and have moved on to something else. For me, collecting the images sometimes satisfies the urge, and in many cases saves me a poorly thought out purchase.

I only started buying designer bags last year & i think I am content. I am no longer obsessed with bags & keep thinking how wonderful a new bag will spruce up my outfit like I used to. I think it helps that I have a new 'hobby' - fx trading & I am someone who doesn't carry much with me when I go out so it became a little pointless to keep buying bags.

Then again, I have an upcoming Europe/Paris trip so maybe I will be tempted again?! :-P my dh joked that I should buy bags from there & sell locally to take advantage of the price differences. i don't know but I do like the feeling of contentment instead of obsessing over bags. Hope this feeling can last LOL

I like this idea! I actually do something similar. When I find myself jonesing for a new bag, I find as many images of the bag as I can, and bookmark the ones I like best so I can revisit them. After a few days of this, I often stop looking at the photos or get bored, and that answers the question. If I can over-saturate myself with images of a bag, and not get sick of it, then I'll consider buying!

I don't think I'll ever be content. I've bought and sold so many bags. I love a bag and then 6 months later its on ebay and I'm looking for a replacement.

Up untill now i had never sold any of my bags i just kept buying and buying, ive now put some up for sale and i dont miss them and the money will fund some mulberrys i have on my list :) i dont impulse but THAT much any more so dont want to get rid of them.
