Aimee wrote me that Jackie was on marternity leave..hopefully she's soon back ! Regarding the idea of celebs wearing BE bags, will also not work because of the limited artisans in the workshop! It does take time to produce a bag, and if all of a sudden over 40 bags of the same kind worn by so and so was to be produced, it simply can't be done..
I believe BE needs to have some readymade stockbags that doesn't cost an arm..like the Hold me,Kiss me etc. in the old types of leathers they are known for ..type the mattes..And get the bespoke service back running again..perhaps cut some corners to lower the prices so it's affordable.

I love my BE bags...in fact I've loved a couple pretty much to death... totally agree that seeing some new would be fabulous!! I also agree that not being able to see them in stores is a huge issue - it's so hard to determine whether a style works for you without trying it out...I was really bummed when that cool boutique in Seattle closed... she carried quite a few of the BE bags and when I was in town I could check them out there.... I adored the older crash leather ...wish she'd bring that back in some new styles... and that newish black snake is amazing....

I am actually really annoyed as I have been a loyal customer since the early days. I have supported BE by buying a huge number of bags, particularly bespoke bags. I have styles of bags from every season, some duplicate styles in several different colours. I have promoted BE to all of the ladies at work for nothing more than the love of showing off the beauty of BE bags. In return what did us loyal customers get? No explanation for the cessation of BE couture, no new blogs, no updates and no new bags for the last year!!!

What BE are writing on Twitter is nothing short of an insult - random repetitive comments designed to keep customers just hanging in there?!

If BE are no longer trading, just selling off old stock then that's ok. So is Jackie wanting maternity leave. So is financial difficulty.

But please just tell us.

I guess you are not the only one feeling upset with this silence from BE.

At least we can enjoy the BE bags we have in spite of the rude attitude from BE.

For sure, it is an odd way to do business. As Bonnie says, we can keep each other company!

It would be great to see if old BE fans still have some of their original bags and how they are standing up to the test of time.

I'd like to chime in as someone who is sad to see that there aren't any current announcements of new styles or any change of plans since last fall. It's been almost a year now. I can understand if there needs to be a change in strategy or personal plans but I agree that many people are curious as to what is going on with our beloved brand. I still carry and enjoy my bags and they are getting harder to come by these days. My Barcelonas and London Tote midis have held up beautifully and my older dark grey matte bags still look gorgeous.

It's a special brand and it's sad to see it languish this way.

Tejas, you've got some goodies there. I still love looking at the comparison pic of the dark grey Love Me and Love Me midi. Glad to hear they are still holding up! How about an updated pic?

Hi Vanbod,

I've sold some bags that didn't work for me (usually because they were too heavy or fiddly) but the ones I kept have worked beautifully. I don't have the large LM anymore but I did post a picture long ago showing the two as a comparison in size here: http://forum.purseblog.com/belen-echandia-reference-library/belen-echandia-reference-library-pictures-only-237875-5.html

I had hoped to see the discovery of some really great leathers--the kinds we used to really love like the mattes (choco, dark grey, tan, etc). I think the black matte qualifies but I don't care much for this newer shinier leather being used. I guess I'm just an old school girl.

I was very sad to see the end of bespoke, especially since the stock bags have not spoken to me in some time. I have a very bad feeling about the future of BE....hope I am wrong though.

It is very sad really, bespoke was such a unique concept. Even if I go into LV or Coach the SAs will comment on my lovely Charm Me Midi in Pink Croc. There are a few things that I think would have helped...marketing being one. I think if they had a presence in the US that would have helped tremendously.....if they could have gotten some unique boutiques to carry the bags. I thought they had one in Seattle. But in a few other places that are popular travel destinations such as NYC, San Diego, San Francisco, Miami Beach, Las Vegas, Boston. This way we could get to see the bags IRL and even if we wanted to do a bespoke because a boutique did not carry specifically what we wanted, it would be nice to know with certainty whether you prefer a LM or LM Midi etc. And we would not have to pay overseas shipping charges if we purchased in stock at the boutiques.

The boutiques could carry leather swatches and even assist in placing bespoke orders. They could advertise "Design your own Italian Made Handbag"

Another thing that would have been helpful would be a mannequin who was about 5'6" carrying the bags in different variations (shoulder, cross body, arm carry) so we could gauge size. It really is a roll of the dice to order a bag site unseen and not be able to return if you decided that you really needed a full sized Love Me rather than a Midi. The size issue was always a deterrent for me when ordering bags as I am only 5'3" and prefer smaller bags.

I feel very bad for Jackie as it must be crushing to have a dream business like this and have it not work out. And she probably could have made more profit if the bags were made in China etc but she did not want to compromise on quality and that is a big plus and a selling point.

Everyone must be holding on to their bags for dear life as I see the same few bags on the auction sites.

No, nothing is confirmed where BE is concerned. BEC has been cancelled but as Bonnie points out, Jackie is on maternity leave. I would have thought they would have made some contingency plans for this as this is her second child but who knows?

Its just that things are so quiet that no one knows what is going on. They may come back with a bang.

I wish somthing will happen soon, but it is not usual for BE to be so silent, this is so rude towards the clients! ...at least least let us know, that within a couple of months something will happen..or not. Even re their Summer Sales..is there going to be any?:confused1:
