Who/what started your LV obsession

I was always a bag girl but no money (still no money ‍♀️) to buy lux items until I got my first job 10 years ago.

I did not like LV that much because I don’t really like the mono print. But one day when I passed by the window of LV I saw the DE print I was like - WOW... I spent my first salary to get the speedy 35 in DE for my work! Still love it soo much and I remember the day when I got it as it was like yesterday. The whole experience was so surreal for me and also to spend 1000euros on a bag...

I was watching Newlyweds and Jessica Simpson took her multicolour speedy 30 camping. Before that I had heard of LV vaguely but wasn't interested. I got online to look and then realised that the market was flooded with fakes so I waited until I could go to the store instead. I ended up buying the white alma instead with my tax refund cheque. I told my hubby if I could just have one real LV then I would be happy. Ha ha - we know that didn't work!!

Hi!

Got introduced to LV by a group of watch aficionados, years ago. Prior to that I had heard of LV, but not necessarily associated myself with the brand. I wouldn't exactly call my relationship with the brand an obsession. But what really got me hooked in the end was that I felt they were making products that exactly fit my needs, wants and overall lifestyle. (Keepall 45 band., Toiletry Pouch, Agenda PM, different Attaché briefcases - including the one I had later customized as valet tray/jewelry box by a leading saddler/leatherwork company who also make prototypes for leading automotive manufacturers...)

I also loved & enjoyed the overall shopping experience with LV back then.

But it also lead to some "over buying" back then, items that would sit unused to only slightly used for years. Especially two items come to mind, the double zippered 13" laptop case and the watch roll. At some point I let go of anything unused over a prolonged time.

I love and use the stuff I own, I admire the house of LV and LVMH as parent - but I'm far away from any kind of obsession these days.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Hubby brought to me the only LV boutique in my country 2 months ago to buy me a present as I am getting my Ph.D in December. I was really shocked to see the prices and asked him to not buy me anything as I have never used or liked luxury bags before. I've only used Michael Kors before and could care less about bags.

But my hubby picked out these: NeoNoé in Damier Ebene (Venus), an Alma BB (Monogram) and a Zoé Wallet in Rose Poudre Monogram Empreinte leather and told the SA to pack them up. I couldn't speak and was in shock while he paid for them. Turned out he visited the store beforehand and did a lot of research on those pieces.

I was a changed woman, they are so gorgeous! And I love them to bits.

My hushand (who has a business background) told me that LV bags have high residue value and as long as we treat it right, you can sell it in the future and get a lot of your money back unlike MK bags which have terrible second-hand value.

Since that day, he bought me a Celine Micro Belt Bag in Light Taupe and a Gucci Super mini marmont in black. So in a span of 2 months, my view on bags have been turned upside down and now every time I'm outside, I check out what bags other women are carrying

Sorry for the long post. I just never expected all this, been a geeky science girl all my life and never gave two cents about fashion/bags but my husband is really something else and have always had impeccable taste. He pretty much bought me all my dresses and coats etc. Of course we share finances so I'm not living off of him haha, I just don't trust my own tastes lol. I'm more of t-shirt + pants girl before I met him.
Wow. I can't even imagine bringing my DH inside an LV boutique. He would fall into shock.

It's so fun that everyone has a unique story.....but I forgot to tell mine :oh:
Back in the decadent '80's (still my favorite decade), I was starting my career, a mid-20 something fledgling.
I worked with a lady who could have been the twin of the actress/singer Ann Jillian. She was a blonde bombshell, if you don't know her, Google.
This gal carried a mono Speedy 30. I thought it was the epitome of chic. When I bought one for myself (a 25, and a huge extravagance at the time, I think it was $300 at Saks) I was so enamored, I carried that bag nearly every single day, for TEN years. $300 divided by 3650 days. I think I got my money's worth !!
It was the perfect size for my needs, functional, and made me feel like a million bucks.

I still have that bag. She is worn beyond repair, cracked canvas, broken zipper.
I'll keep her forever, as my first LV love.

My mom has always loved Louis Vuitton. Some of my favorite memories with her are going into the boutique for hours to shop around. Her SA back in the day actually still works at the same store to this day. She's always been a fan of luxury items and got me into the expensive habit from a young age . Her favorite purse to carry was the damier ebene speedy 30. The first piece she ever bought was a checkbook that she still uses to this day!
I like this story so much.

When I brought my new mono Speedy home (I had to drive two hours to the nearest big city where it was available, at Saks), I was SO excited !! And my husband only replied, "THAT"S the purse you've been raving about? It's kind of ugly."
We divorced several years later.
Over much bigger issues, of course.
But hey.......if your man doesn't get you. He just doesn't get you. :confused1::yucky:

Grew up during the Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton fad era. I also hosted at a restaurant inside a casino in my teens so I got to see all the high rollers wives carry gorgeous bags daily. I started with lots of Coach and Kate spade's and then I found out about eluxry.com. I bought my first premier bag from them when I was 16 -Christian Dior Blue Boston tote. I still have this bag in great condition and plan to gift to one of my daughters when they get old enough.

My Mom bought her first speedy 25 when it was $195, from the ground level boutique at the I. Magnin store in San Francisco Union Square. That was in the mid 1970s. I thought that little weird brown bag with the letters was so cute and oddly appealing. Her next item was a French wallet and a Trocadero. I was hooked and have been for 40 years. I have tried other brands over the years, gone through dry spells but the only bags and wallets I keep and use are LVs.
I love your story...and miss I Magnin!
