Who else has never spent more 1000 on a bag?

I have definitely spent more than 1K on a bag. I don't recommend it.

If it were a matter of having to go into 4 figures to get a bag that's well made, looks nice, and is functional, that would be one thing. But that's not even close to being the case. There are tons of beautiful bags made out of nice materials that will hold up to abuse and cost less than 1K, much less.

I refuse to buy another high end bag and am selling the ones I have. And this forum is for all bag lovers at all price points. You don't have to shell out 10% of the average US yearly income on a Hermes to be a bag lover.

I’ve never owned a bag over $1,000, but I’ve always said there’s a huge difference between a $50 bag and a $150 bag, but once you get over $300-500, the difference is negligible. Thanks for confirming this, lol! My collection of moderately-priced, quality bags makes me very happy.

I've never paid over $1,000 for a bag but I have bags that retailed for that which I got either new or preloved for less. I do think in some cases there is a big difference in quality and leather with more expensive bags compared to mid-level ones.
Of course there are exceptions on both sides of the equation and even within brands. I have two MK collection bags and one is much nicer leather than the other. All of my Tods bags have been very high quality in construction and leather. I have a RM bag that is glazed leather and not my favorite but it gets noticed and admired for the color.
Whatever makes one happy. I would have to be Very wealthy to spend thousands on a bag.

I always wanted a Chanel bag and bought one for $1500 on the secondhand market. That was one time, three years ago, and haven’t spent that much since. I’m giving away handbags to my relatives that I know longer use to make room for bags that are on my wishlist. None of the bags that I currently want are over $1000 secondhand.

The only bag that’s on my wishlist that I know that I will have to spend over $1000 for is an Hermes Toolbox 20. That’s my dream bag. Not in any hurry to get it so I’m not saving up for it until 2019. It’s not like it’s a Birkin or Kelly. Shouldn’t take me long to save up for it.

I have one over $1000 bag - a Ferragamo. And it is a lot nicer than my other bags. But not all 4-digit bags are worth the price. My next most pricey bag is a Longchamp lambskin bag. It is pretty nice. But not as nice as my Coach 1941 bags with leather interior.

Most of my bags are Coach.

Once you get to $1000+ it pays to choose wisely.

Will I buy another $1000+ bag? Who knows. If it is a daily wearing bag - sure.

Completely agree with you about the Michael Kors collection bags. I love mine. (Don't you have a Tonne?)

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed the comparison of Longchamp to Coach 1941. A fried of mine recently purchased a 3D Hobo, which I have been interested in purchasing myself. It is a similar price point as a non-embellished regular sized Rogue, which I own 3 of. It is no where near the quality of those bags, I was surprised at how flimsy and cheap it felt, especially for the price tag.

To answer the OP one of my bags was right at the $1K threshold, but I don't see myself purchasing something more expensive any time soon.

I don't have any bags more than 1k. I think is not worth for it,although I love them .in my opinion we can order High quality Fake bags, it seems costs less from me

I have 3 bags I bought at $1k or a little over - the first is pre-tpf (2011), the 2nd during early tpf days (2013 or 2014) and then finally last year. But I also have a few with selling price of more than $1k but which I stalked during sales and so I have them at the $500-$700 level brand new, and then some pre-loved. I think I’m getting wiser. I’m not sure I will still buy at over $1k in the near future. [emoji3]

Under about $50, I feel like all bets are off. Most of the time those bags are made of plastic (often marketed as PLU Leather or Vegan Leather) and it might look like a truck ran over it within 6 months or even just fall apart. Of course there are exceptions with outlet finds, niche local artisan made pieces, ect.

Above $100, just about any bag you buy is going to be fine. Maybe you want to pay more for a style or a material (something like lambskin will cost you) or a brand, but I don't think you make too convincing a claim that you're paying more for quality above that price point. The only bag I've ever had the stitching unravel from was a 1500 Mulberry.

There's nothing wrong with shelling out some serious money (however you define that to be) on a bag just because you like it. But it's disingenuous to act like you "bought quality" because you spent more. I see that a lot: "quality over quantity." Really, you can buy 5 bags for $1000 total and have as good as quality as a 5 bag $8000 LV collection.

Most my bags are in the 1-4 hundred price range: Coach, MK, Long Champ. I also have a few in the over 1k range. When I buy something over $1 k , I usually try to stick with classic, something that I can resell easily, if my finance requires it. Some brands keep their resell value high. My LV neverfull, bought it for $700 a while ago. Been wearing it for years, and if I were to sell it now, I would make a profit. The bag still looks great (shows quality) despite being a workhorse & travel bag for years.
