Who else has never spent more 1000 on a bag?

I probably will never spend $1000 on a bag. I've a couple that retailed over that but I got them pre-loved. I find I like my most expensive ones the least. Part buyers regret and partly because I find them not easy to get in to or carry.

I was going to chirp in about how I love shopping pre-loved and never spent more than $300 on a bag, but then I remembered my dad brought my mom and me Birkens out of an estate auction. They're sitting in my childhood bedroom because we're too afraid to use them and too afraid to sell them because even though he got an incredible deal on them that we'll never find again, its way more than what either of us would spend on a purse.

At least, he knows I like nice leather though ... I've accumulated a ton of cool bags over the years but I'm especially partial to Bally, Loewe, and Luella Bartley.

Pre love would more than likely be the way I go if I decide to get a premier brand bag

I’ve been in this forum for 8-9 years, reading and admiring other people’s purchases. I’ve only bought one bag that was just under $500 CDN all in. My next most expensive bag I bought couldn’t have been more than $280... I just can’t bring myself to splurge like that because I get bored or find something lacking in a bag all the time. Lately I purchase bags at the rate of 1/year. My bag for this year was $125, leather and suede, really liking it. I buy base on style and function. I think I spent $50 on a cute little leather cross body last year as my yearly bag

OP - have you seen this thread. Lots of great bags under $1000

Are most your bags pre loved? I love seeing what other people find on the pre loved market. Its the thrill of the hunt kind of thing for me.
I definitely love finding a deal at all price points.

Just curious. Why are you afraid to use the bags?

Heavens I've never spent that much on a bag! Now I have spent too much on bags in general. And I have way too many bags. But I've never spent so much that if my bag were stolen I'd have to file a homeowner's insurance claim. Most of my bags come from ebay.
Hehehe. This is me. :D

To answer OP's question:
My most expensive bag was 950,- and I'll leave it at that. Most of my bags are in the 200-300 price range and I am totally happy with this price point.
As another poster has stated, I use my more expensive bags not very often. Not because I am afraid, but because they are heavy, cumbersome to use,...

I buy most of my premier bags pre-loved and contemporary ones new. The most I have spent was about £500. I am looking to buy an evening bag closer to the £1,000 mark but I feel very uneasy and uncomfortable. I manage to talk myself out of the purchase every time I come close. At the end of the day, I get more use out of a longchamp le pliage than any of my LVs. I’m too scared to use them and they are kind of annoying to get in and out of at times. I wish I did not have a bag addiction!

Every weekday morning, I spend 40 minutes on the subway. Sometimes my bag gets smushed up against other people. Sometimes I have to put my bag on the floor to be respectful of other people. This is much easier to do with something that I know to be a depreciating asset than something that I could potentially sell for a year’s worth of rent. Speaking of which, there are def brand conscious people in the middle class neighborhood where I live that would know what it’s worth and I see a lot of Hermes nearby the nonprofit where I work for and would prefer for donors to believe that we are spending their money responsibly.

Public transit on the weekend is a lot easier but a large, valuable, handheld bag that I can’t open and close easily and am afraid to overstuff still doesn’t suit my active lifestyle. I’m 26, I didn’t “earn” it, and there’s just something that feels off like I’m wearing someone else’s clothes. But because I’m still young my lifestyle might change. It’s undeniably a stunning bag. But I own stunning bags with <$200 resale values...

My mom is kind of the same way. It would look silly with her Occupational Therapist scrubs. She’s also changes bags super rarely so I believe she feels that once’s it’s “out” it will stay “out.” I hope she’ll be able to handle a heavy bag in retirement.
