To be honest the general consensus is that you should take off all fine jewelry before showering or any other activities like house chores, gym, etc to make the pieces last longer and stay pristine looking but I am (1) lazy and (2) prefer to enjoy looking at my beloved pieces as much as possible! I love jewelry and stacking and it makes me happy to see/wear them, so I accept scratches (begrudgingly) and loss of some luster/shine for the convenience. In habit it is much better to do what you do which is to take them off!
Actually i also am rather lazy and like you, wish to enjoy looking at my pieces as much as possible! Haha. But i will tend to baby the akoya pearl, MOP pieces, guilloche or the pave pieces from VCA more than others.. so whilst i would rather not take them off, i feel heart pain to wear into the shower (if light workout at home like yoga , stepper i leave them on)..

I will sometimes wear non VCa, non pearl diamond 18k gold bracelets 24/7 or until my next rotation to the other gold (which is prob within next 1 to 2 days).. i find them easy to clean and restore shine actually using the cartier solution or will try ultra sonic cleaning at home for these pieces! :)

Thank you, this is real helpful, and i believe you're right! I rather do some replating in a piece's lifetime than have to work with more greyish metal that i dont enjoy day to day. I dont use my pieces aggresssively so i shall observe along the way too

Do you wear your piece 24/7? I usually take off my items when i am home, i just dont like to shower with luxury jewelleries.. and therefore, i also never wear them into swimming pool oceans etc
Platinum doesn’t turn gray easily if you have the right alloy. It also doesn’t lose metal when you have it polished like gold does. I buy all my white metal jewelry in platinum when I have the choice. It’s a natural white metal and gold, of course, is not. Almost all my (non VCA) diamond jewelry is in platinum and I haven’t had to have a single piece polished. You want either 95 plat/5 ruthenium or 90 plat/10 iridium for less scratching or turning gray.

I’d never wear white gold pieces 24/7 due to the playing issue. Not that I wear anything 24/7, but white gold shouldn’t be if you want to avoid having to polish and replate. Polishing gold does remove metal and that’s why they don’t recommend doing it often.

The only thing i would wear to sleep with would be the chain bracelets. I dont like wearing rings or earrings or necklaces to sleep but bracelets i am used to for some reason. However i really dislike wearing them into shower now, cos i really see how it dulls the gold and diamonds so , althoigh i feel lazy, i also kind of feel the urge to take them off before showering.

I recently got my first VCA WG piece, the Magic necklace with the short chain. It was also my first MOP piece.
I am CAPTIVATED!!!
It was so unexpected, but both DH and I love it so much. What I was surprised by was how much I loved VCA white gold!
I've been a YG purist all these years and here was this amazing metal all along.

I'm scoping out what would be a good piece to wear with it, but really loving WG now.

Do you all mix metals with WG? I have 3 VA bracelets in YG (TE, C, and Agate).

I dont mix metals, but i have always had white gold/silver and YG pieces.. and i build my collection based on these 2 metals (i dont want to start a RG one just to conserve and dedicate my resources lol). I like WG or silver pieces when i am in dark or cool toned outfits.. i love YG when i am in floral girly dresses

I compared Cartier WG and much prefer VCA's WG. I also have Hermes white gold and enjoy it..

VCA white gold just seems crisper to me than many others. I absolutely love it! I mix my rose gold with white gold but try to avoid yellow and white together. I find YG and WG both bold and I dont visually love the pairing of two competing metals right next to each other. RG seems to support (not compete) with the WG.

I’ve been struggling with the idea of mixing metals also. I love the 10 motif with chalcedony, but most of my jewelry is yellow gold.
I’ve reasoned that since the necklace is far enough away from my wrists, I can probably get away with it, particularly in the winter when my bracelets only peek through my sleeves. Would love to see a mod shot of your new piece!

I mix YG and WG sometimes, but usually on different wrists. Whatever my earrings are so is my necklace though. Those can be different than my wrists. I’ll wear a YG watch with YG earrings and necklace, but WG on my right wrist.
