I would say Saks, they gave me 10% off my first purchase ( NM never did ) and upgraded me to 2 day shipping after locating a item for me. Also NM had their $200 GC off a $500 purchase and I have yet to get mine, when I called CS they gave me the run around and it looks like I won't be getting it. Also NM CS for the most part is pretty clueless, Saks is on the ball so I would rather spend my money with them.

It looks like Saks is the besttt.
I actually do like Saks the best too, just with the store selection.
And the Saks Mastercard sounds like a good deal.
But the interest sucksss.
I guess I'm not that ready to commit though..

I have both a Nord's and NM card but I do receive a lot of promotional material from Saks and Bloomies (I live near South Coast Plaza, and do plenty of shopping!). I'm contemplating the Bloomies card.

What I like about Nord's is that it only takes $2,000 in annual spend to reach Tier 2 benefits. I get unlimited free shipping. I can call a dedicated customer service person 24/7 and they will hunt down any product in their inventory for me. They have private shopping days for Tier 2 and higher card members. They have plenty of events before the stores open where they serve breakfast. These events are typically double points events as well. I also like that you get credit for spend at NR. I think it takes $10k to reach Tier 3, so there's quite a leap between 2 and 3. Tier 3 includes free alterations.

I've never spent enough at NM to generate any good IC rewards. I keep the card to get 5% off when I shop at NMLC.

Do the other cards have tiered benefits and what are the tiers?

I don't use any of these cards - get a good Visa or Mastercard with % cashback. If you order online, you can also use ****** for additional cashback - I bet you get the most of the CC than any department store credit card, especially if you carry on the balance ( which is never very beneficial). We've just earned $700 cashback on our Mastercard in just 5 months - what store can give you that?

i LOVE my Saks card!

i mainly use it outside of Saks (as master card) but those points sure adds up! i got $259 for the last reward - and i was able to use it at LV!

but my card# got stolen and somebody charged over $4000 on this card, they cought it right away, sent me emails of weird transactions ---- the process of clearing this up was kinda stressful (i had to file police report etc... come to find out somebody in africa was buying antique lamps w/ my card! good thing i watched 20/20 or dateline special - they had a show about this!!) but they cancelled my card right away and over-nighted new card (after giving the customer service crap, he originally said it was gonna take 1-2 weeks!!! r u kidding me?!!!)....
but for a while, they used to call me after making big purchases on this card!

i used to have Bloomies and Nordies cards --- enough said, i USED TO. lol

I just got Saks "house" card recently because I have enough visa/mc already. SA explained me about collecting points and stuff before I apply and I also told her I wasn't interested in Saks w/master(before she gave me an explanation above). Only few days ago I found out there is no "points" feature on house card.....SA didn't tell me there is no "points" on house card. So what is the benefit having "house card", just for an invitation for pre-sale? I have only one "off-fifth" in my state and there is no Saks here. It really sucks:tdown:

I used to like the Bloomingdales card b/c you only need to spend $1000 before you become an "insider" in which you earn 3% back on all purchases with nurmerous double and triple rewards (6% and 9%) and free gift wrap, etc. They mail you the $25 certificates to use each time you reach that earning level. If you spend $2500 you become premier insider with more perks (not sure what though so I never made it there). There's a VISA part attached to it and that earns 1% back in B-money. I don't use it as much anymore but thats only I beacuse I don't live near it anymore.

I  my Ultimate Premier Insider Bloomies Visa... you only need to spend $2500 annually to be an Ultimate Premier Insider which is super easy for me since the Bloomies at South Coast Plaza has Chanel & LV and purchases there qualify towards that requirement. (I always wait for triple rewards (9%) days to make big purchases) Those $25 gift certificates add up really quickly with both the Bloomies and Visa rewards, and you get unlimited beautiful deluxe gift wrapping which is great for presents. I don't know what the APR is since I pay off the balance each month but I'm sure it's high but that's with all credit cards these days~
