It's lavender jade. I don't know much about jade vs. jadeite. Maybe you can educate me or maybe I should start visiting the Jade thread. Yes- those are amethysts and diamonds. I have matching earrings. The picture is dark. It's much lighter and brighter in person. This was at my cousin's bridal shower - a casual Sunday, summer afternoon. I work in investment banking but sadly the ladies aren't into luxury items.

Ooh would love to see it in natural light! Lavender jade is notoriously hard to photograph.

I am definitely not a jade expert but I'll share some of what I do know. Jade can be either jadeite or nephrite. Jadeite is typically more desired and expensive especially in certain colors (emerald green, apple green, lavender) and textures (ice, glass, fine crystals, "oily") and higher pigmented, but there are also expensive types of nephrite as well (Edward Black, some Siberian nephrites, Heitan jade). The more translucent a piece is, the less pigmented it typically is too. Glass (looks truly like glass) or highly pigmented fine textured jadeite is probably among the most expensive, and can be hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. Bangles are typically among the most expensive because they have to be carved out of one piece. Pendants, earrings, beads etc can be carved out of the "wasted" material. Carved bangles in particular are often done so to carve out the less desired bits, like stone lines or stone blemishes.

As mentioned above, lavender is one of the most sought after and expensive colors, and supposedly getting more in shortage. Pink lavender I believe is more desired than blue lavender as well. Hope that helps a bit!

Ha that might be more than you wanted to know! :p

P.S. I see you are in NY also! Did you buy the pieces locally? I haven't found any trusted shops. There are too many fakes (treated: B is purified with resin etc added, and C is color added).

Hi. Thanks for all the helpful info! I will take a picture in daylight if the weather ever gets nice here (I'm on SI). I bought it locally- just liked it, didn't know much about Jade and unfortunately they didn't give me much info. I will also look for the receipt and PM you the price if that helps.

Sure sounds good!

Here you go. Pictures in sun light of the ring and earrings. You've inspired me to wear it more often. I still like the first ring out of the two you are considering. I'll get you the other info tomorrow.

You may want to look at Gump's website. It's a store in San Fran and they have some gorgeous Jade and pearls.

First ring hands down. So elegant. I have a coral ring similar to the second ring but I rarely wear it because it's too cumbersome on the hand and I'm always worried that I'll chip one of the petals of the carved rose.

Gorgeous ring and earrings MyDogTink! The ring looks beautiful on your hand. Thank you for posting the pics.

Those are two totally different looks!

The first ring with the diamonds is a -- wowza!!! BOOM!! ring. It is more formal and it really demands attention. The color of the stone is beautiful.

The carved ring is a little bit of a let down after seeing the first ring, as the color of the stone isn't popping as well -- but the more I see of the 2nd ring the more I like it. I like the detail of the ring itself, with the vines, and the 2nd ring is more modern and young feeling.

I think with ring #2, I get the feeling that you'd need to be more careful not to knock it on things, because it is big.

It really depends on what suits your personality best. I think the first is more classic and will age better with you.

If you want something more modern, maybe keep looking? Don't buy if you're not feeling great about it.

Gorgeous!! Great color and set! I've heard of Gump but that is is expensive for the quality.

Thank you! The seller says she knows what I want and has new designs coming soon. She will send me a new cabochon when polished. [emoji16]

I do agree about the potential chipping risk given the size of the ring especially.
