Jewellery! I’ve loved diamonds since I was 3, no joke I was actually able to tell the difference between CZ and diamonds at that age. My father still talks about it...and I just love all gems and the amazing art that goes into creating it. Not to mention the stories that surround antique jewellery. For example, My MIL gave me diamond earrings that belonged to her great grandmother, from India. Those diamonds come from a mine that no longer exists. I have an emerald and diamond ring from 1812 which has a romantic yet tragic story behind it.

Personally I love jewellery made of diamonds and sapphires/rubies I can wear everyday and resemble flowers or butterflies lol hence my avatar

I prefer jewellery to bags, but I love both! I’m still quite young and trying to build both collections so I have a long way to go. I’m not sure I could pick one because I think they both complete an outfit, especially my style (I like to be dressy, classic silhouettes and in heels all the time).

Good thread.

I like both bags and jewelry, but jewelry lately is something I'm more interested in, for a couple of reasons:
-I feel like I can get more bang for my buck with jewelry, and precious metals last a really long time if well-cared for.
-Space! Jewelry is much easier to store in a limited space. This becomes a bigger practical consideration over time.
-Jewelry, if well-chosen, tends to outlast trends. Same could be said of a well-chosen bag.

bags always for me! i wear very minimal jewelry, diamond or pearl studs, single dbty pendant necklace and eventually plan on getting two love bracelets, but i think that will be it. But i love switching up my bags and have many on my wish list

Reviving this thread. I’ve been thinking about this lately. With the cost of designer bag increases. I‘m starting to think that jewelry is a better investment. Like other posters have said, jewlery can last generations if taken care of. Gold, Platinum, gemstones, and diamonds are forever. Bags on the other hand can only last so long.

I agree with this. I was just looking at a Chanel bag for $7000 and I thought I could get a really nice piece of jewelry for that price. Not to say I don't LOVE bags, but I think my opinions have shifted due to price increases and sometimes a lack of quality in certain bags.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about. Do I really need a new Chanel bag for at or over 7k? The preowned market has also increased significantly. It’s just crazy when you see that new Chanel classics cost around the same price as many pieces from Van Cleef and Cartier. I was looking at buying a new Jumbo, but at over 7k that’s also more expensive than a top quality diamond tennis bracelet.

Jewelry. I waver on bags. The past couple months when I have ventured out I've only carried a wallet. Also I rarely get tired of my jewelry. After awhile I look for something new or different in a handbag even if what I have is considered a classic.

Before it was bags, now definitely jewelry. I bought 2 brand new Chanel flaps as my "holy grail" pieces when I got my first job which I'd dreamed of my entire life. Guess how many times I wore them over 8 years? ZERO. I got rid of both this month and feel bittersweet but happy. Its just not my lifestyle and I'm petrified of causing damage. Now I realize wearing nice jewelry daily means still having luxury items but not worrying about it. I would obsessively worry about babying a bag and any scratches would destroy me, and I know that's unavoidable. Plus who doesn't love diamonds!

Here lies the problem.
Bags wear out after use.
No so with jewelry. It may not be the current "Hot" item right now, but, then bags come and go as well.
In the long run, you'll have and love your jewelry all your life :heart:and it can be passed down through generations, while bags, not nearly so!
