:shucks: You might be right that sometime after March might be better a time to buy. . . right now it is madness at T&C! But still look at the rings your SA brings in. . maybe she'll surprise you! Or you'll surprise yourself and end up liking something other than you originally thought!

Those of you who have been following this thread are in for a surprise! I went to look at the tiny novos, .53, .39, and .31. The .53 was an "F" color and it looked dark! It looked darker than the .39 and .31 which were "Gs". Isn't that strange? It turned me off of the novos (today). And then I found an absolutely stunning beautiful sparkly princess stone in the plain platinum band. It was .53, VVS1 and "H" color for $3900. It was so bright and looked so much bigger than .53. Loved it paired with the metro band. I know - very engagementy looking. And I already have an engagement ring! But I so love this princess one. Going back to see it on Monday. So I will stew about it tomorrow! Happy New Years!

Hokaplan - how do you intend to wear this ring until you give it to your daughter? As a wedding set replacement? Or a right hand ring set? I think the bright lights and Tiffany blue got you scrambled at the store in order to change your mind to a princess cut! :laugh: That set might look silly on the right hand in addition to your actual wedding set on the left. Just my humble opinion...

Thanks guys! Rushing out door to New Years Eve dinner! Maybe I'm nuts - just didn't love the novo today. Do you think $3900 is crazy for a .53 princess? Totally respect all opinions. Maybe the bright lights really did get to me!!!!

LOL! Princess cut! Wow, I was not expecting this turn of event! I can't wait to see what you get. The metro band is pretty paired with anything! But it's 18k gold, not platinum like their e-rings. I was originally going to pair it with the sola ring, but today, my SA showed me the novo band, and it looks amazing! If you think the metro band is too thin/don't like mixing metals, then I encourage you to try the novo wedding band with your princess cut hehe. :smile1:

I don't think .53 H VVSI for $3900 is too bad. I know the Tiffany site says their .50 princess solitaires start at $2,550, but my SA told me those prices are grossly under-exaggerated. I think if it was over 4k, it'd be unreasonable, but do keep looking around and have your SA bring in other color/clarities in your carat range for comparison!

Don't worry - I'm not getting the princess ring at Tiffanys! It just sparkled so much more than the Novo! It is back to the drawing board. I did try the princess with the novo band and a chanel band too. Liked the metro best but SA did point out that it was WG and not platinum. I'm going to stay away from Tiffanys now and sort it all out! Perhaps some more "reveals" here will shed a new light. I appreciate everyone's opinions more than words can say. Thanks again!
