Since I become so easily bored - LOL! - perhaps I should do something a little more affordable right now. The glory of Tiffanys is that I can always upgrade later when I have more funds. For those of you who regularly read my threads - I recently purchases the ballon bleu and an empriente Artsy so I do not want to strap myself! But I love and really appreciate all the suggestions. So, do you really think on a 1/2 carat that the difference between an "I" and a "G" is so slight? Would you go with an "I"?

Go with the I for sure, and a VS2 clarity if possible. And I'd go well below a 1/2 carat. This is for a young girl. There's no need for overkill. Also--know that there's only a small window for upgrading with Tiffany. It's not whenever unless it's a MONSTER and you want a bigger MONSTER to replace it with. I understand it to be under 5 years.

LOL. You're hilarious Ame!

My SA said you can upgrade in 5 years for a ring that is at least 2x the price of the price you originally paid for the ring. So, if you paid 5k for the Novo, you can get a bigger Novo, or an embrace (or whatever else catches your fancy), but the upgrade ring must cost at least 10k.

Did you know that there is a service charge which could easily be up to 10% of the price of the original ring? Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were no extra fees and you can just swap it out for a new one. (2x price though)

Yeah, it's unfortunate they don't give you the entire original price of the ring back, but they try to give you as close to it as possible. I guess it makes sense - they have to make (more) money somehow off of you. . .haha.

I'm dying to get back to Tiffanys! It is only 15 minutes away but I'm busy all day tomorrow. And it is too cold to go out now! I have an appt set up for Monday but I may just have to stop in on Saturday. I'm pretty sure they're open New Years Day but I will check.

I feel the same way as you! I can't wait to go back either, but I'll be out of town next week and my SA is also out of town for New Year. So the earliest purchase for me will be mid Jan!! I hope you get to check out the rings sooner than Monday! Are you looking at both embrace and novo? Or just novo? How exciting =)

just called. They're open on Sat from 10-6. Two novos are being transferred in and I have appt to see them on Monday. But now I'm itching to look at other stones too. I still like that original princess bezet but so many people don't care for it. My plan is to wear the new Tiffany (to be purchased) all the time and to save my 1.25 round HOF for dress and special occassions. Eventually my daughter will get the Tiffany but I want to enjoy it now! So I really don't want to go under 1/2 carat. And I don't want to be impulsive. So it may be in my best interest to get an education and sort it all out! I was just in a store and the young cashier was wearing the most stunning princess stone. It was in a plain setting next to a diamond wedding band. I complimented her on it. I'd never ask a stranger the specs but I doubt if it was more than a 1/2 carat. But it sparkled so much.

^ LOL.....deep breath Hokaplan....deep breath!!! And have a martini with me!! I just got my 1st Rolex!!!!

Definitely take your time & choose something you love. In fact.....try on all of their style to see which one looks BEST on you. That way, you'll have no doubts.

Contessa - Congrats on your rolex! Which one did you get and did you post pics? I have 3! I have a ladies 2-tone with diamond markers but not MOP face. It is jubilee and fluted. I have a mid-size ss with rhodium roman face - also jubilee and fluted. My 3rd one is the air king with blue face and orange numbers. I planned and saved and love all of them. Enjoy!

Wow......what a collection!

Mine is a fabulous vintage (ltd ed, RARE & impossible to find) piece that dates back to the 70's.....YG & RG (face) .....an oyster perpetual datejust. I just  it.

Just checked in with my SA at Tiffanys. Do you believe they sold the bigger and most expensive Novo that I described at the beginning of this thread? No one even chose that one! She is having a hard time transferring in rings and inventory is low. ame would probably agree on this one as she said to go smaller - a .39 Novo - VS2 and "F" color for $4,190. I bet it is teeny! I think way too small but I'll look.

I agree, that's worth looking at. And the price is nice especially for an F. :)

I think it's a good idea to go smaller. I didn't have a diamond of my own til I got engaged, so even if it's "small", she's still a kiddo and that's going to be a big deal to have at all.

Hoka, I am having the same problem as you! I called around to the 8 Tiffany stores nearby and all had sold out but one. I was so incredibly anxious that I got the OK from my bf to call my SA to schedule an appointment two-three weeks early. Their inventory for a lot of engagement rings are running low and he said that he might have trouble transferring in my specific carat weights. I guess Xmas, the coming New Year's and V-Day is sucking them dry!
