Ok, friends - please tell me what you think:
.53 F VVS1 - $7550
.51 G VS1 - $5950
.51 I VS1 - $4800
I'm leaning toward the middle one cause I don't think I could tell difference between a .51 and a .53 and an F and a G.
Looking at all in person on Monday!

I'd go for the I colored diamond also. The color differences don't make themselves that apparent until you get to larger carat sizes. Plus, no one is going to be holding a G or F colored diamond next to yours for whiteness comparison. It will look sparkly and radiant on your hand regardless. The money you save is well worth it IMO!

Wow - pretty much everyone agreed to go with the "I" color. Probably correct in that it won't look so much different in a stone that size. I'm so glad that I started this thread! Rings should be in store for me to see on Monday. They only have the most expensive one there now. Thanks everyone!

I'm really not prepared to purchase Monday. But you never know.....People here on TPF that read my threads know that I usually obsess, plan and price-shop for 6 months or so to be absolutely positive. I planned out all my watch purchases and my HOF reset of my round 1.25 diamond for many months. But the rings are different because it is not like you can go to any store to buy the same black J12 with diamond markers for example. The rings are unique and you might not get same specs if you wait. But I'm sure there will always be something close to it. I'm just wondering - I read somewhere that around Christmas time to Valentines Day that it was peak season in jewelry business. Do you think prices might be slightly better in March?

I have that same dilemma and am hoping to purchase a ring with my boyfriend by the end of next month. I am afraid the ring I want with the specs I am looking at will be gone by the time I am ready to buy!

I talked to my SA and he said that if there is a price increase, it will most likely occur at the end of their fiscal year, which happens to be end of January. He wouldn't tell me how much of a price increase it will for fine jewelry/engagement rings because he said it depends on each individual piece and how well sales were for the quarter, etc. He promised to give me a heads up if an increase happens, but he says sometimes headquarters in NY just updates the system without giving any warning, so I am not putting my hopes on that.

Once prices go up, prices stay up until the assessment period at the end of the quarter/next fiscal year for them (not sure when the next one is). I'd talk to your SA on Monday and ask to make sure when that will be if you are not ready to buy until spring. My fear is, prices will keep going up, so I'm trying to buy now, versus later. Seems like sales were well this Xmas and I know prices of gold and diamonds keep rising, and I don't know how long Tiffany can hold off without raising prices soon!

Thanks. Since I already have an e-ring and have been married for 19 years, I'm in a different place! It began cause I always wanted a tiffany diamond (moreso from being on TPF!) and thought it would be especially nice for my daughter to have someday. Then I fell in love with novos. Many people on forum seem to think that 1/2 carat is a great size. And now many people seem to think that "I" color is also great on 1/2 carat. So, we'll see. I'm afraid that I will switch to embrace or something totally different when it comes time to purchase - LOL!

Wow! (I know, my boyfriend thinks TPF is a bad influence on me). What a wonderful mom! My mom would never buy me a diamond from Tiffany! I'm very much like you - now you're getting me interested in looking at embraces and novos too. . .hmm. LOL, I know I'm driving my bf nuts!!!

1/2 size is great, especially for the embrace because the halo makes it look more substantial and bigger than it really is. I haven't seen 1/2 carat in novo, but I would imagine it wouldn't look any less beautiful than a 1 carat novo! I'm excited to see what you end up with!

Tell us how it goes on Monday! :D

With Tiffany's or any brand, I don't think the price is going to change regardless of season or holiday. I think you're just going to run into lower selection in those areas of the year.

Yes. on site - 1/2 carat novo starts at $4500 and 1/2 carat embrace starts at $5850. Embrace will not be considered. But I still always love the round solitaire too! And that would probably be in the same price range.
