I bought a Mulberry Bayswater from Rue La La 4 months ago. The stitching is coming lose and the leather is starting to split. I contacted Mulberry and they are going to assess for me. I’ve never had a bag fall apart like that; even $20 bags from Bealls Outlet used to last me years.

Can you try to send it back? Either to them or Mulberry?

Rue la la refused, saying returns will only be accepted within 30 days. Mulberry, as I said, will be assessing. They’ve given me a mailing label and will let me know what they’re going to do about it (if anything) once they’ve been able to inspect it.

You could raise a chargeback against the retailer under the not fit for purpose reason code via your bank/card issuer. You have 13 months to do this from date of purchase. The 13 month period is defined by the VISA/MasterCard card scheme rules which ***** a retailers refund policy.

How awful. Mulberry were very good with my iphone case which split. Repaired without any question and came back as good as new. No charges. It was 11 months old. Good luck!

Great thread. I love my mulberry bags! I’m clueless about buying preloved so stick to shops and sales where possible. I wouldn’t sell any on either so the number is creeping up.

Blue quilted mini Cara
Black SBS
Chestnut buffalo Alexa
Purple lizard mini Amberley
Black Seaton
Oxblood Tessie Hobo

Hi, I have to confess my comment about declining in quality is based on what I’ve ‘noticed’. Bayswater bags can be sold years old. With reasonable care the handles will yes be very floppy and the area where the handles attach to the bag can show signs of loss of colour. However the newer style which are only a few years old seem to be showing significant colour loss on the actual handles. It’s just something I noticed on the resale market. I’ve also noticed people using scarves etc...to cover the handles I would assume to protect them. My other issue is where the Mulberry logo is in gold or silver lettering. That most definitely is something which does not appear to withstand much use. Every bag I’ve had it’s already started to fade. Maybe it wasn’t protected? I spray mine or use the leather gel from colinil regularly.
So maybe I’ve done them a disservice, but to me, some areas of the new design don’t appear to be able to stand the ‘test of time’ as they once did.
As for the new Bays. I had a massive new style with black studs. Loved it. But oh my was it heavy and incredibly cumbersome. However, I think it was me not the bag. I put too much in it lol. Most of the reviews I’ve seen or read say the new style Bays are much lighter. I will always have a couple of Mulberry bags but I’ve reduced it heavily as I explained. I think some of the new styles are gorgeous but not for me. X Sam X
I can’t vouch for many of the newer styles as I generally prefer the old styles. However, I’ve got a black Seaton that I’ve used non stop for work for 2 years. It looks as good as new. My mole grey Bayswater is 4 years old as was already wearing much more at the same point. I thinks it’s because it’s so much more slouchy.

I’m happy to report that, no questions asked, they had me send it in (at their expense) for evaluation and they repaired it and sent it back quickly. Great resolution to disappointing issue.

Same here! Which one did you buy? I might want one again.. You may PM if you prefer
The first one I purchased was a large gecko print. I love the structure and the zipper opens very nice and wide, it makes it easier to dig for stuff. I wished I could've used it as a shoulder bag or crossbody. I like the option. I wanted the larger del rey for a work bag. It's very lightweight. I was using my tooled bays, but it's a bit heavy and I want to save it for special occasions. I couldn't find anything similar, though I really liked the old Rachel. I decided to try the large del rey again and use a shoulder strap attached to the handle rings. It is a beautiful camel beige. It works ok, but doesn't hang quite right. So then I had D-rings added to the same place as the smaller del rey for the shoulder strap, it works great now, but after all that I have found something I like much better and now I'm not using it. I debated on altering it in case I decided to sell it. I think I paid $150 for it, so I decided it wasn't a worry getting my money back on it. I've changed jobs now, and using my seaton. Sorry for the long reply! ♡
