Which Messenger/Convertible Bags Are You Loving Right Now?

I've been having a lot of problems with my shoulder lately so my chiropractor suggested I go cross-body. I just picked up a Fossil Sutter large top zip in pewter at Macy's last week and I'm very happy with my choice! I love all the pockets, especially the one on the back that is large enough to hold my Kindle :D

Messenger bags aren't large enough for my liking, but here is my one of my favorite go-to convertible handbags for winter!
I love carrying this huge Prada deerskin instead of a manly briefcase, so I have one in black and one in brown.
They've survived rather nasty crushes and crunches in elevators, subways, cabs, airports, etc.

this Prada bag is lovely! So nice to hear that it can take a beating and still look great.

Here are a few photos of the Cole Haan crossbody I found recently. Sorry, after I took the photos I realized I hadn't snapped the snaps at the bottom of the bag but unsnapped bag and all, these photos should at least give you an idea of the style, lol. They had it in black, this brown, and a really nice green color at my local outlet last week.

Ok, this bag is 47 levels of fantastic! I love CH anyway but this is by far one of the most gorgeous bags I've seen and I love how you can wear it all three ways. Cole Haan scored a home run with this one!

Thanks asianjade and TejasMama. :smile1: One thing I am loving about the CH is that it is organized really well. It's divided into three large sections inside and has a large exterior pocket on the outside as well (on the back), which closes with a magnetic closure. Anyway, I got lucky with this one. Just happened to be walking by the outlet...

Great thread!
After years of thinking I was too, ahem, 'busty' to wear messengers, I recently realised it's all about proportions/getting the strap width right. And now I'm a woman obsessed! My absolute all time favourite for messengers (and all bags, if I'm honest!) is Mulberry - I adore my faithful old Seth in black Darwin. Alexa is gorgeous but for that lovely 'heritage' feel you need to go back in time a few years to the heydey of their Darwin and NVT leathers. Some styles are still available in NVT - the large Antony is a stunner and is definitely on my list. Beautiful.
For the ultimate in traditional leather satchels (at a stupidly reasonable price) have a look at the Cambridge Satchel Company - you don't get more authentic than that!

SD--do you have any pics of the inside you can share? ;)

TrashedBride--I've heard wonderful things about the older Darwin Mulberry leather. You're right in that it's all about proportions. I have a fascination with messenger and convertible bags for a variety of reasons, including 1) I only want to carry one bag and I don't want to feel bogged down when I travel--with or without kids--I want to be on the move and comfortable. There's a sense of travel and mobility with messenger/convertible styles which is why they appeal to me so much.

Floodette--Kate Spade has some really nice styles and great deals in their outlet stores as well. It's another largely underrated brand, I think, along with Cole Haan.

Here is a photo of SDbaglover's style in a couple of other colors. It's called the Cole Haan Hyde Park Messenger.:smile1:

Fossil is another great brand--lots of really nice designs at good prices. I agree about the Kindle--my bags have to fit my Kindle in them because I like to take it with me just about everywhere. ;) Reason 42 to buy a crossbody style--make your chiropractor (and your back) happy!:graucho:

:yahoo: Very well said! I fell in love with this bag when I saw SDbaglover's post yesterday. It was like love at first sight, and it will be a perfect bag for travelling! I love it because it can be worn in so many ways, so I practically only need this bag for my next 3 week trip to Asia! The only downside, colehaan.com does not take international credit card. ;)

Did you order this bag? If so, which color?:smile1: you may also want to try ringing the outlet stores. If they have it, it will likely be less expensive. I agree that it is the perfect traveling bag! Keep us posted!;)
