Have y'all ever received compliments over your pocketbooks from people you don't know?

I had my new bronze Selene with me at a craft store, and a lady who was there just gushed over it. I thought maybe the store would have to call an ambulance to come get her. However, since I am a wild woman too, I gushed right along with her.

Compliments from strangers are always such wonderful surprises! :flowers:

I was in the bank today with my Gucci Flora tote and the teller fell in love with it. She wanted the details of where I got it and was going to order herself one as soon as she got home from work.

I live in a tiny country town and bags just aren't a "thing" here, there's zero status attached to carrying a designer bag, it's purely an aesthetic thing. I felt so happy to share with someone my love for something that I think is beautiful.

I used to meet a very young lady while walking my dog. She was always carrying lovely handbags.
One day, I stopped to ask her where she had bought her cute pink and white bag.
" It's a present from my Dad. He bought it on the Internet. I'll tell you about the site. They sell lots of nice bags. This one is only 25 euros!"

The most recent compliment I heard is from a waitress. She saw my Minelli red bag and exclaimed
" Wow, is that a Burberry?"
I told her it was not of course. I don't even know if a Burberry bag looks like my Minelli....
Anyway, the price of the bag (in that case 99 euros on sale) has nothing to do with the beauty of our bags......

One time someone walked up behind me on the street and said she loved my purse - LAMB, not a very common brand (at least here) and she had never seen anything like it (roses all over in shades of white/gray/black). I used to have a LAMB with pairs of lambs all over and got several compliments from strangers on it too, mainly in line in stores.

I've gotten 1/2 dozen compliments this past week alone on the cheapest bag in my closet! It's a non-leather Big Buddha brand. It's been raining so I've been carrying it rather than leather or anything with vachetta. Even my Hermes didn't get these compliments!

That's funny -- I have the Dillen medium hobo in plum and it always gets tons of compliments.

I also get a lot of compliments when I carry Longchamps, I think because people recognize the brand more than some of the other bags I carry.

I have an Icon bag & matching shoes, which garner compliments for their artwork.
Otherwise, most strangers compliment my hair or outfit, rather than bag--maybe great bags highlight other features, but remain quiet themselves?

That does sound unusual and gorgeous. If someone walked by and I saw a bag like that, it would turn my bag too.

In general, most compliments from strangers tend to be directed at my Gucci Bamboo Top Handles. I think it's because it looks so different from most other bags around.

I'm a guy so people find it really unusual when I carry my celine phantom or my lady dior etc so I get weird looks not compliments. I mostly get compliments from SAs since they kinda pay attention to stuff like that.

I did get one compliment though, I was using my chanel boy on the subway and this guy kept staring at the bag and then when a seat was free right next to him I sat down and he complimented my bag and we got into a whole conversation about chanel boy bags it was fun.

I have a Susan Nichole vegan bag, the Sophia in burgundy. I get more compliments on that bag than on any other bag I've ever carried in my life. I actually have two, because the first one finally wore out after two years of constant use.

You'll get compliments here, though. Saw your collection from link the other day and was in awe. I can tell you buy what you love, something I wish I'd known at your age and they're all pieces that build well on each other and are refined without being dull, something I've yet to figure out.

On that note, my bags tend to fall in the safe category, so typically only SAs will comment on them. Both Reed Krakoff Boxers were fawned over at Nordstrom and my Tod's Jewelry D-cube has been complimented a half dozen times or so, but I tend to fly under the radar.
